Hi I have a 2002 Triumph Daytona 955i not starting. It does crank but not firing up. I have checked Ignition and I can see spark. I checked fuel system and it does work. I removed the spark plugs and they were wet. Last time used easy start and it did work. But now its not even starting with easy start. Do have any idea why is it not firing up? Thanks Yasika
"just check your spark plug ez" *has bike where the spark plug is buried completely in the middle of the bike and requires special tools and tiny hands to reach*
Haha - there are definitely tricky ones - you can still pull the boot off the spark plug and plug in a different spark plug or a spark plug tester (or anything metal with a non-conductive handle ) to make sure that your coils are at least working if taking out the plug is hard.
LOL, real talk!!! jesus... i've been inside my bike countless times in the past few weeks. '14 Suzuki GSXR 750 changed spark plugs. only really checked one ignition. need to do all 4. There's countless things to check.. and that's only from parts I know of. I have "some" tools. Also have devices, multimeter and power probe 3. She started yesterday for 14 seconds. Shut off, now can't get her to start again. Gonna wait till tomorrow morning to put her in dealership mode and see what code/problem it tells me. So reach my spark plugs (under tank, under cover, under air filter, taking off both plastic guide pieces, detaching the electrical and the air valves.) THEN had access to the ignition coils and the sparkplugs.
What do you think could be causing these issues? Bike has power from the battery, fuses are good, press the starter button, struggles to turn over. Last time it ran, it had issues increasing speed. My instinct is it won't turn over because of a bad starter. And was bogging because due to bad spark plugs. Suggestions?

You could check your float level to make sure it's getting the gas it needs. Using the choke to start is not a bad thing and that will make it lean ( to start ). after the bike Is warmed up does it run okay? Try adjusting the air mixture screw to change the amount of gas/air the carb is producing.
@brother moto all my fuses are good battery good still won't start it started up this morning then shut off from there it just turns over and contnot to start haven't checked spark plug yet but once I do that and everything checks out what else could it be
my 2003 K.V. 750 need to replace the factory CCT on rear cylinder. not sure if manual or automatic. owner replaced front one. ive been looking up videos but cant find nothing about how to replace it. be very helpful if you could help please i live pay to paycheck cant afford a shop fix. thanks😁
So I just got a brand new bike and I started up for the first time yesterday after a couple cranks it started and stayed on then this morning the same thing, took a few cranks to keep is on. I was told this is not unusual for a brand new bike that hasn't even been rode yet. Is this true? Thanks
Hello, I have a 99 SV650. OK, from rewiring to un locking engine, I have done it all. Yet, I put new carb on bike yesterday. It crunk up twice, ran without me cutting it off. getting gas, ALL works fine ....YET, NO SPARK! Coil readings are up to specks. ok, clutch pulled in, kickstand up..turn over still no spark. Help with these symptoms?
got a 87 harley sportster xhl1100 when i take the plugs out the engine turns over and good compression if i put 1 plug in it my turn over if i put 2 pugs in it wont turn over. with plugs out i can hear gurgling in the oil vent hose. has new starter and relay and battery. any suggestions?

Bummertown - Check to see if you pinched a wire going to the start button. or check your battery terminal to see if your ground or postive cable came loose
i bought kawasaki vulcan 750. owner keep in garage. when i go to start bike every thing is turned on in neutral kick stand up . but when i push in starter button in sometimes it will start up sometimes not .would you have any suggestions. what it could be please help. thanks

Good video for us newbies😁.. I’m still having trouble starting. I have good fuel flow, air and spark.. the stupid thing still won’t start. When I adjust the air fuel mixture, it backfires out of the carb or exhaust depending how much they are adjusted (2-3 turns out on each) on the duel carbs. It’s aggravating! I Sam something about a woodruff key but I didn’t check that yet. I have a 1983 xs650. I am also using an xs electronic ignition system. Would that woodruff key do that? I have 165 and 168 compression on both cylinders. I have adjusted the cam chain and set the valves properly as well.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey! Have you checked the starter? Whats the last sound the bike made? before it stopped running? Is your battery full and good? I have an cb750 ‘84 and with my bike it was my starter and battery, rebuild the starter (kits can be bought online) Also, did you plug the spark caps on the right spark? I had mine on the wrong ones and my bike sounded like a machine gun.
I hot an 07 fatboy bike ran out grabbed gas put that in the bike started right up went pull out driveway and bikeshut off no sputtering just start cranking .but won't start fiigure gas was bad suck tank dry replaced plugs and fuel pump regulator and filter still just cranks a then l of a sudden inputted and now just cranks again I need help on were to go fro here I can't afford a shop I'm on disability so if you guide me I would greatly appreciate it thank you
I have a problem where the bike has everything needed and it still won't start... Will a cdi that is bad not allow a bike to start or a bad neutral switch? When I swing!/crank/turn the bike over, the bike makes a good sound and then suddenly stops like metal has collided. Could this be valves not at the right hight and colliding with the piston? ( it does not makes sense as the bike does a few rotations and more than four) wich means the valves have made the fuel exhaust cycle almost twice.! 🤷♂️ I would appreciate some clean advice! Gonna sound like idiot but tried to change spark plug and it snapped. Got tools to extract (bits). New spark plug in and starter wants to start the bike (whirring whining noise) but engine doesn't catch. Got ANOTHER spark plug and some silicone grease for the plug and boot, still doesn't start. Sounds like putting noise coming from exhaust but seeing any exhaust come out. Was working fine before snapping the super corroded spark plug.
We have all broken stuff before :) are you positive you are getting spark with the new plug? If that's the only thing that has changed, make sure you are getting spark and your spark gap is correct.
Ducati panigale V2. Everything was working fine yesterday. Today I decided to turn in on to go around the neighborhood and as soon I tried to start the engine the motorcycle started to spill gas from the bottom like a waterfall. I do remember I fill up the tank the night before. Do you think that is part of the problem or do I have a mayor issue here? I tried a couple hours later and same problem. I have a 2005 Suzuki Blvd C90T. After driving the bike for about a half hour I turn off the bike and I noticed that the battery is draining. I replaced the stator and the rectifier and recharged the battery. I went for a ride and again my battery began to drain. I turned off bike and when I tried to turn on the bike did not start. The battery had drained and did not have power to turn. The battery is 2 months old. I used a jumper and the bike turned on. I do not know what else it can be. Im thinking of replacing the starter relay and seeing if that might be the issue. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..
I've seen some batteries even though brand new act like that, not holding their charge and their cold cranking amps get lost. Before you replace it, check your cables and make sure they are nice and snug, that can also cause the bike to not pull enough juice for a clean start. I had basically the same issue on an old BMW and swore it was not the battery.. at the end of the day it was just a faulty battery.
@@JaredErickson Just tried that on my break; nothing but sputtering as usual(starting sound). I was paying attention to the lights and they started to dim as I continued to try starting it. I also left a charger on it last night for quite some time.
I haven't been able to get my 99 wide glide to start after doing a service on it. It'll crank until that kills the battery. Then I have to recharge the battery. This IS a new battery that I had purchased when I bought the stuff to do my service. Any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah, the plugs and wires are all new.
Start with the simple things - kickstand, killswitch, accidently in gear, gas is turned off? Have you visually seen spark from your plugs? I can't tell you how many times i've tried starting a bike for 15 minutes before I realized I didn't have the gas on.
@@JaredErickson Mr. Erickson, I indeed have been over each and every one of those steps. Except...why exactly would I check the kickstand? That one through me for a loop. Wasn't sure what to think about that one. So if you can be a bit more specific about that I would really appreciate it. I just don't want to go out there and start looking under the bike and look like I lost a contact considering I don't wear them. Lol. Bu yes, I put a new coil, on plugs are new, wires are new. I actually bought the coil because I had initially checked the spark and I wasn't getting very much of one on the bottom plug wire. I mean, maybe I can check out the relay but I figured it wouldn't even crank if it was bad.
@@chuckhawkins4614 Sometimes the kickstands have a kill switch on them not allowing the bike to start or move in gear. doesn't sound like you would have that issue since its turning over. Since you replaced all those components, have you pulled your plugs and held it against the engine, turning the bike over so you can see them spark? If they do have spark - put them back in, try to turn the bike over a few more times and pull the plugs again, are they wet or dry? There is something up with your fuel delivery. If you do have spark and your plugs are wet with gas you may have a timing or valve issue causing the bike not to fire at the needed moment. Hope that helps.
Im 3000 miles from home on a roadtrip, rode and parked the bike last night without any issue and this morning wont start! Just slow winding noise and nothing else. Lights work so i think battery is ok. Either way, i tried kick starting and pushing it into gear and also nothing... Plenty of petrol in the tank... Any otger ideas?
still sounds like it could be the battery if its a slow winding - check your cables and make sure they have a tight connection. give your starter a tap while you are at it.

@@JaredErickson its a Polish Romet Classic 400 - not very well known, esp outside Eastern Europe. I replaced the sparkplug - no difference (there was nothing wrong with the previous one either...)
I hear CLICK when I press my starter, but after charging it past 13v, it still goes click. I can physically feel the click happening on the solenoid, but no other signs of life. I'm starting to hate clicks 🙁. Changed spark plugs yesterday and tested it before riding this morning. I only got about a mile away from my house till my bike sputtered to a stop while coasting to a red light. I'm guessing the new plugs caused the issues, but it appears the starter isn't working...but that shouldn't explain it dying mid-ride. Ohhh motorcycles 😣
Hi huys. I have a honda chamged to cafe racer. I rode it out about 7months ago and it just died thought it was petrol/gas filled the tank up it started but would ride for about 100 metres then shut down, the next day it would start but i didnt try ride after all this time i decided to get back with it, it gave me the oil light. The bike cranks but wont turn, it gave me the oil lite so i put about 1 litre of oil . Im a first time owner have never worked on engines before trying to get this done myself.. Any help out there just want to know if i have major issues and how i can solve this..
Here’s a question for you. Went for a ride on my Suzuki c50 rode for about 1 1/2 hours turned it off went to leave again and bike won’t turn over. Turn key on everything lights up checked kill switch clutch safety switch and kick stand switch all good any ideas. Also so I hear a small high pitch whine from somewhere under the tank. If u could give me any idea as what to look at next I’d appreciate it thanks
Hey Katherine, bummertown - does it start once the bike is fully cooled down? By turn over is the engine actually turning over or is it hesitant? Are you absolutely positive your gas is on ( or have gas in the tank? )? Sometimes a bike can be a bit out of tune and when it's warm it's hard to start again. if it starts once's its totally cooled down that's a key. Hard to tell what the whining could be. but possibly the valves, valve chain or even the carb coming a little loose off the carb boot can make weird noises.
@@BrotherMoto Hey BRother, I have a 2009 Honda Rebel 250 and thats exactly what my bike is doing. I ride to work about 15 to 20 minutes shut it off and won't start. BUt, at the end of the day it starts right up. Againn when I get home . Nada, I have to push it into the garage. Any Ideas???
@@shawnatkins1165 What's up Shawn, those rebels are pretty notorious for doing that. Mine used to do it all the time, especially with the change of season. Could be a few things, - like your carb needing a good tuning. I've seen a fresh new battery take care of this as well.
My bike is making buzzing noise when I tried to start, not clicking sound. My headlight is not on. I charged the battery which shows about 13.8-14.8 volt. The battery is only a year old. Do you think my battery is bad? Also, the last time I ride it I did have some issue on road. The bike turned off a few times when I came a stop. But I was able to restart. I even rode it home without any issue that day. The problem happens after I didn't touch it for 2 days. :-(. Anyone any idea please?
What's up Dan - you sure you have spark right? try starting it with just starter fluid? If that works, it would be the carb not being tuned correct ( maybe a clogged jet or the slide put in backwards ).

My bike start in the morning I ride it to work when I get there turn off the switch light still on so I unplug the negative wire on the battery and start work when I get back I plug the wire back nothing come up I put the switch on nothing but the battery still have 12 v what could cause that

@@bobjeans you should still get lights even if your starter relay is bad. Check your ground cable to make sure it's connected properly to the frame as well
Hi. My motorcycle has been off the road for about 1 year. I changed the battery but I have Nothing when I switch on. NOTHING. No ignition lights etc. I've checked all fuses and checked there is power to the ignition switch. Any idea's? I'd really appreciate them. Thanks
might have an issue with your carb - try using some starter fluid and see if it fires up. if it does with the starter fluid, and you aren't getting gas into your cylinder, you might need a good carb scrubbin'
@@JaredErickson I have a ct110, I’ve changed the spark plug/cleaned the old one. Cleaned the carby. It fires on starting fluid but won’t stay running on fuel, it’s gotta be a simple problem but I’ve tried everything I can think of
96 Yamaha Virago XV1100, was running great after cleaning, setting carbs. After a few rides it began to spit and sputter, stalled once. Road back to house, changed fuel filter four there was some junk in it. Now turns over and over and will not start. New plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, battery. Any ideas?
Those Carbs are tricky, can you confirm you have spark? possibly some gunk got through the filter and into the carb, worth at least draining the bowls and double check the carbs.
Check your cables to your battery? a bad contact can cause it to not turn over. double check your kickstand is not down ( while in gear ) and make sure your clutch is pulled in? some bikes have safety "features" that keep the bike from starting if so.
@@JaredErickson alright so I didn't like that kickstand feature on my bike so I disabled that a whole ago I've tried the whole clutch in. Neutral thing. NOTHIN. brand new battery. Stator isn't brand new but new enough. Will having bad spark plug cause it to not turn at all? Cuz when I bridge the 2 terminals on the starter relay by hand it cranks but won't catch. I'm so lost man lol
i have the strangest thing going on with my chinese 125 i put a big bore 150 kit on it and it ran really well until my oil started smoking out my breather so i knew i needed more oil but had to go to my friends which was 23 miles away i got 8 mile before it shut off due to overheating managed to get my friend to come to me and filled the oil up but it wouldnt start still so i managed to get a lift home with the bike. the next day i decided to strip the top end to see if it was my piston, cylinders, valves ect the only thing i noticed was a slight oil leak in the rocker cover and a slight chip in my piston thinking it was the piston letting oil and air past it through the chip i changed my big bore back to the original and unsed sealent around all the gaskets fix the slight oil leak and to make sure it was air tight i tried to start it and it sounds the same wont start so as i have an air pod i thought water might have got into the carb so i cleaned the carb and jets wont electric start due to all my trys the batterys going dead i have spark to so have all the ingredients spark fuel compression and it still wont work i bump start it down a hill its comes to life for 2mins before dying and cuts when you give it more than a quarter turn or slow down just dont know what else it could be any suggestions?
Good details on what you have done and the problem mate. are you sure your timing is correct? Depending on how you put your head back on, you could have been off a tooth or two on the cam chain ( or whatever valve system your bike is setup with ). Causing it not to open and close the valves at the right time, but at Certain RPMs it will start up because it's "on time" for that RPM. I just pulled all that out of my ass though - but it's the first thing that popped in my head.
@@JaredErickson thanks details can be important and my bikes Chinese and doesnt have an over head cam or timing chain the rocker arms have 2 rods that connect to a mechanism that pushes them with ellipse shape metal attached to the crank rod that the pistons uses so its very hard to mess up the timing i just dont get why if i bump start it it does come to life for a short time unless you high rev it or slow down it just wont idle and it feels like it wants to start i know its a head scratcher
My 86 Harley Softail At first it runs good for two or three days then it won't turn over it just just makes a clicking sound battery is good lights come on but it won't start. I'm hoping u can help me out I really appreciated it
What's up Cruz, that sounds like the battery - although it may turn the lights on, an older battery won't have the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) needed to turn the engine over. That's usually why you get the clicking noise, because there is not enough Amps. try a fresh battery. other possibilites would be a week ground connection ( black cable coming from your battery is not grounded well to the frame or battery ). Or your generator / stator is going bad and not charging the battery while you ride.
Just change the primary belt took it for a test drive road fine shut it down gearing up to go for a long ride turn the key fuel pump turned on made it's little noise hit the start button nothing
Sir please help, My bike works fine but after driving it for a while if I stop somewhere in the middle and start again, it doesn't start, again if I leave for like 30 mins, it'll start. What's the issue?
That could be many different issues - when coils are going bad they can act funny when the bike Is hot ( generating to week of a spark to start back up ). you aren't trying to start the bike again with the choke on are you? once it's warmed up you should not need the choke. your carbs could need a cleaning / tuning.
Could it be running Rich? Possibly flooded when rich.....that's why it starts after it sits....check choke isn't sticking.....check air to fuel flow...float valve may stick as well
That didn’t help me at all. Full battery, lights in no sound from efi unit no crank at all. That was not covered. I’m guessing it’s a relay or switch. 2019 iron 1200.
This is too obvious tips if you cant figure them out by yourself u shouldn't touch your motorcycle at all... i got one tip that is not so obvious for everyone, if your motorcycle wont start, backfire through carbs, pops a lot, your pistons stop or even reverse when cranking. Your timing is bad because of bad wiring in ignition coils. Check your ignition coils wiring, you probably switched them accidently is what i did.

That sucks - do you have compression? valves setup correctly? Are you sure your spark plugs are going to the right heads?

Do carb float valves get stuck, wants to start, but dies. Choke needed to start, runs lean. RYCA CS1.

If you push you button to start your bike and and all lights etc turn off . What does this mean???
My oil light comes on every time I press my starter switch and all I hear is a click what do I do.
In my case the fuel pump won't engage when I turn the switch on the bike will crank but no fuel gets in there
Good video for us newbies😁.. I’m still having trouble starting. I have good fuel flow, air and spark.. the stupid thing still won’t start. When I adjust the air fuel mixture, it backfires out of the carb or exhaust depending how much they are adjusted (2-3 turns out on each) on the duel carbs. It’s aggravating! I Sam something about a woodruff key but I didn’t check that yet. I have a 1983 xs650. I am also using an xs electronic ignition system. Would that woodruff key do that? I have 165 and 168 compression on both cylinders. I have adjusted the cam chain and set the valves properly as well.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have an cb750 ‘84 and with my bike it was my starter and battery, rebuild the starter (kits can be bought online)
Also, did you plug the spark caps on the right spark?
I had mine on the wrong ones and my bike sounded like a machine gun.
Got one for ya. A 1982 Honda sabre v45. Randomly shut off and shops can't even figure it out. I really need some help.
I hot an 07 fatboy bike ran out grabbed gas put that in the bike started right up went pull out driveway and bikeshut off no sputtering just start cranking .but won't start fiigure gas was bad suck tank dry replaced plugs and fuel pump regulator and filter still just cranks a then l of a sudden inputted and now just cranks again I need help on were to go fro here I can't afford a shop I'm on disability so if you guide me I would greatly appreciate it thank you

When I swing!/crank/turn the bike over, the bike makes a good sound and then suddenly stops like metal has collided. Could this be valves not at the right hight and colliding with the piston? ( it does not makes sense as the bike does a few rotations and more than four) wich means the valves have made the fuel exhaust cycle almost twice.! 🤷♂️

955i tiger wont start ...new used ECU started it a buddy tiger ECU ran good after putting the used ECU in it started now just turns over bike first failed after gasing up 2 year old crappy gas. In it . Time to trailer to dealer?
Did you check the spark and make sure you are getting fuel.
My Fxdbi won’t start after it heats up. Dealership said it was temp sensor, still having the same issue after replacement

I would check the voltage regulator (assuming it has one) to verify it's only putting out ~14 volts, not more
Gonna sound like idiot but tried to change spark plug and it snapped. Got tools to extract (bits). New spark plug in and starter wants to start the bike (whirring whining noise) but engine doesn't catch. Got ANOTHER spark plug and some silicone grease for the plug and boot, still doesn't start. Sounds like putting noise coming from exhaust but seeing any exhaust come out. Was working fine before snapping the super corroded spark plug.
We have all broken stuff before :) are you positive you are getting spark with the new plug? If that's the only thing that has changed, make sure you are getting spark and your spark gap is correct.
Ducati panigale V2. Everything was working fine yesterday. Today I decided to turn in on to go around the neighborhood and as soon I tried to start the engine the motorcycle started to spill gas from the bottom like a waterfall. I do remember I fill up the tank the night before. Do you think that is part of the problem or do I have a mayor issue here? I tried a couple hours later and same problem. Only spills gas when I try to turn in on. Thank you in advance for your advice.
I removed my gas tank and fuel lines on a yamaha yzf600r thundercat from 1996, put them back, bike runned for 2 mins, than it stoped. Doesn t wanna start anymore.
I've got a 2015 harley street. I had to get a new battery because it has been sitting for quite some time. It turns over and you can hear the fuel injector coming on but it will not fire up?
has it been sitting with fuel in it? try starting it up, take the plug out and see if it smells like gas. also make sure it's sparking.

Need Help…. My Bike wouldn’t start after I stalled out. It turned over First try than when I stalled it didn’t want to start. Luckily I was down the street from my house.
I have a 2005 Suzuki Blvd C90T. After driving the bike for about a half hour I turn off the bike and I noticed that the battery is draining. I replaced the stator and the rectifier and recharged the battery. I went for a ride and again my battery began to drain. I turned off bike and when I tried to turn on the bike did not start. The battery had drained and did not have power to turn. The battery is 2 months old. I used a jumper and the bike turned on. I do not know what else it can be. Im thinking of replacing the starter relay and seeing if that might be the issue.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..
I've seen some batteries even though brand new act like that, not holding their charge and their cold cranking amps get lost. Before you replace it, check your cables and make sure they are nice and snug, that can also cause the bike to not pull enough juice for a clean start. I had basically the same issue on an old BMW and swore it was not the battery.. at the end of the day it was just a faulty battery.
Yeah so I was riding my motorcycle, stopped, and as I let off off the clutch to go it just died. And hasn’t started since then.
try putting it back in neutral when starting it? give any more info on what it is doing?
@@JaredErickson Just tried that on my break; nothing but sputtering as usual(starting sound). I was paying attention to the lights and they started to dim as I continued to try starting it. I also left a charger on it last night for quite some time.

I haven't been able to get my 99 wide glide to start after doing a service on it. It'll crank until that kills the battery. Then I have to recharge the battery. This IS a new battery that I had purchased when I bought the stuff to do my service. Any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah, the plugs and wires are all new.
Start with the simple things - kickstand, killswitch, accidently in gear, gas is turned off? Have you visually seen spark from your plugs? I can't tell you how many times i've tried starting a bike for 15 minutes before I realized I didn't have the gas on.
@@JaredErickson Mr. Erickson, I indeed have been over each and every one of those steps. Except...why exactly would I check the kickstand? That one through me for a loop. Wasn't sure what to think about that one. So if you can be a bit more specific about that I would really appreciate it. I just don't want to go out there and start looking under the bike and look like I lost a contact considering I don't wear them. Lol. Bu yes, I put a new coil, on plugs are new, wires are new. I actually bought the coil because I had initially checked the spark and I wasn't getting very much of one on the bottom plug wire. I mean, maybe I can check out the relay but I figured it wouldn't even crank if it was bad.
@@chuckhawkins4614 Sometimes the kickstands have a kill switch on them not allowing the bike to start or move in gear. doesn't sound like you would have that issue since its turning over. Since you replaced all those components, have you pulled your plugs and held it against the engine, turning the bike over so you can see them spark? If they do have spark - put them back in, try to turn the bike over a few more times and pull the plugs again, are they wet or dry? There is something up with your fuel delivery. If you do have spark and your plugs are wet with gas you may have a timing or valve issue causing the bike not to fire at the needed moment. Hope that helps.
Im 3000 miles from home on a roadtrip, rode and parked the bike last night without any issue and this morning wont start! Just slow winding noise and nothing else. Lights work so i think battery is ok. Either way, i tried kick starting and pushing it into gear and also nothing... Plenty of petrol in the tank... Any otger ideas?
still sounds like it could be the battery if its a slow winding - check your cables and make sure they have a tight connection. give your starter a tap while you are at it.

@@JaredErickson its a Polish Romet Classic 400 - not very well known, esp outside Eastern Europe. I replaced the sparkplug - no difference (there was nothing wrong with the previous one either...)

I hear CLICK when I press my starter, but after charging it past 13v, it still goes click. I can physically feel the click happening on the solenoid, but no other signs of life. I'm starting to hate clicks 🙁.
Changed spark plugs yesterday and tested it before riding this morning. I only got about a mile away from my house till my bike sputtered to a stop while coasting to a red light. I'm guessing the new plugs caused the issues, but it appears the starter isn't working...but that shouldn't explain it dying mid-ride.

Hi huys. I have a honda chamged to cafe racer. I rode it out about 7months ago and it just died thought it was petrol/gas filled the tank up it started but would ride for about 100 metres then shut down, the next day it would start but i didnt try ride after all this time i decided to get back with it, it gave me the oil light. The bike cranks but wont turn, it gave me the oil lite so i put about 1 litre of oil . Im a first time owner have never worked on engines before trying to get this done myself.. Any help out there just want to know if i have major issues and how i can solve this..
Here’s a question for you. Went for a ride on my Suzuki c50 rode for about 1 1/2 hours turned it off went to leave again and bike won’t turn over. Turn key on everything lights up checked kill switch clutch safety switch and kick stand switch all good any ideas. Also so I hear a small high pitch whine from somewhere under the tank. If u could give me any idea as what to look at next I’d appreciate it thanks
Hey Katherine, bummertown - does it start once the bike is fully cooled down? By turn over is the engine actually turning over or is it hesitant? Are you absolutely positive your gas is on ( or have gas in the tank? )?
Sometimes a bike can be a bit out of tune and when it's warm it's hard to start again. if it starts once's its totally cooled down that's a key.
Hard to tell what the whining could be. but possibly the valves, valve chain or even the carb coming a little loose off the carb boot can make weird noises.

@@BrotherMoto Hey BRother, I have a 2009 Honda Rebel 250 and thats exactly what my bike is doing. I ride to work about 15 to 20 minutes shut it off and won't start. BUt, at the end of the day it starts right up. Againn when I get home . Nada, I have to push it into the garage. Any Ideas???
@@shawnatkins1165 What's up Shawn, those rebels are pretty notorious for doing that. Mine used to do it all the time, especially with the change of season. Could be a few things, - like your carb needing a good tuning. I've seen a fresh new battery take care of this as well.
My bike has gas ,air and spark brand new fuses and spark plugs and battery and new starter and won’t start.
My bike is making buzzing noise when I tried to start, not clicking sound. My headlight is not on. I charged the battery which shows about 13.8-14.8 volt. The battery is only a year old. Do you think my battery is bad? Also, the last time I ride it I did have some issue on road. The bike turned off a few times when I came a stop. But I was able to restart. I even rode it home without any issue that day. The problem happens after I didn't touch it for 2 days. :-(. Anyone any idea please?

What's up Dan - you sure you have spark right? try starting it with just starter fluid? If that works, it would be the carb not being tuned correct ( maybe a clogged jet or the slide put in backwards ).

My bike start in the morning I ride it to work when I get there turn off the switch light still on so I unplug the negative wire on the battery and start work when I get back I plug the wire back nothing come up I put the switch on nothing but the battery still have 12 v what could cause that
by "nothing" do you mean, no lights anything on? could have blown a fuse while disconecting the battary.

@@bobjeans check to see if the voltage for the battery drops when you turn the bike on. if not, it sounds like your main fuse is blown.

@@bobjeans you should still get lights even if your starter relay is bad. Check your ground cable to make sure it's connected properly to the frame as well
Hi. My motorcycle has been off the road for about 1 year. I changed the battery but I have Nothing when I switch on. NOTHING. No ignition lights etc. I've checked all fuses and checked there is power to the ignition switch. Any idea's? I'd really appreciate them. Thanks

What if the spark plug does not smell like gas?
might have an issue with your carb - try using some starter fluid and see if it fires up. if it does with the starter fluid, and you aren't getting gas into your cylinder, you might need a good carb scrubbin'
@@JaredErickson I have a ct110, I’ve changed the spark plug/cleaned the old one. Cleaned the carby. It fires on starting fluid but won’t stay running on fuel, it’s gotta be a simple problem but I’ve tried everything I can think of
I changed my battery and bought a charger still i hear the clicks even now
96 Yamaha Virago XV1100, was running great after cleaning, setting carbs. After a few rides it began to spit and sputter, stalled once. Road back to house, changed fuel filter four there was some junk in it. Now turns over and over and will not start. New plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, battery. Any ideas?
Those Carbs are tricky, can you confirm you have spark? possibly some gunk got through the filter and into the carb, worth at least draining the bowls and double check the carbs.

Okay so my lights and everything turn on. But it won't turn over at all. No clicking noises or anything.
Check your cables to your battery? a bad contact can cause it to not turn over. double check your kickstand is not down ( while in gear ) and make sure your clutch is pulled in? some bikes have safety "features" that keep the bike from starting if so.
@@JaredErickson alright so I didn't like that kickstand feature on my bike so I disabled that a whole ago I've tried the whole clutch in. Neutral thing. NOTHIN. brand new battery. Stator isn't brand new but new enough. Will having bad spark plug cause it to not turn at all? Cuz when I bridge the 2 terminals on the starter relay by hand it cranks but won't catch. I'm so lost man lol

Check all the wiring and grounds to see if you got any exposed bits - or maybe a previous owner popped in a lower amped fuse?
My moto dont start after washing it the lights are on every thing have good electric but the starting key don't do nothing no sound nothing at all
i have the strangest thing going on with my chinese 125 i put a big bore 150 kit on it and it ran really well until my oil started smoking out my breather so i knew i needed more oil but had to go to my friends which was 23 miles away i got 8 mile before it shut off due to overheating managed to get my friend to come to me and filled the oil up but it wouldnt start still so i managed to get a lift home with the bike. the next day i decided to strip the top end to see if it was my piston, cylinders, valves ect the only thing i noticed was a slight oil leak in the rocker cover and a slight chip in my piston thinking it was the piston letting oil and air past it through the chip i changed my big bore back to the original and unsed sealent around all the gaskets fix the slight oil leak and to make sure it was air tight i tried to start it and it sounds the same wont start so as i have an air pod i thought water might have got into the carb so i cleaned the carb and jets wont electric start due to all my trys the batterys going dead i have spark to so have all the ingredients spark fuel compression and it still wont work i bump start it down a hill its comes to life for 2mins before dying and cuts when you give it more than a quarter turn or slow down just dont know what else it could be any suggestions?
Good details on what you have done and the problem mate. are you sure your timing is correct? Depending on how you put your head back on, you could have been off a tooth or two on the cam chain ( or whatever valve system your bike is setup with ). Causing it not to open and close the valves at the right time, but at Certain RPMs it will start up because it's "on time" for that RPM.
I just pulled all that out of my ass though - but it's the first thing that popped in my head.
@@JaredErickson thanks details can be important and my bikes Chinese and doesnt have an over head cam or timing chain the rocker arms have 2 rods that connect to a mechanism that pushes them with ellipse shape metal attached to the crank rod that the pistons uses so its very hard to mess up the timing i just dont get why if i bump start it it does come to life for a short time unless you high rev it or slow down it just wont idle and it feels like it wants to start i know its a head scratcher

What's up Cruz, that sounds like the battery - although it may turn the lights on, an older battery won't have the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) needed to turn the engine over. That's usually why you get the clicking noise, because there is not enough Amps. try a fresh battery. other possibilites would be a week ground connection ( black cable coming from your battery is not grounded well to the frame or battery ). Or your generator / stator is going bad and not charging the battery while you ride.
for me theres a single click and then the lights dim what does this mean
Your battery is too low or you have a loose ground cable not allowing full power from the battery to get to the starter.

Just change the primary belt took it for a test drive road fine shut it down gearing up to go for a long ride turn the key fuel pump turned on made it's little noise hit the start button nothing

My bike works fine but after driving it for a while if I stop somewhere in the middle and start again, it doesn't start, again if I leave for like 30 mins, it'll start. What's the issue?
That could be many different issues - when coils are going bad they can act funny when the bike Is hot ( generating to week of a spark to start back up ). you aren't trying to start the bike again with the choke on are you? once it's warmed up you should not need the choke. your carbs could need a cleaning / tuning.

Could it be running Rich? Possibly flooded when rich.....that's why it starts after it sits....check choke isn't sticking.....check air to fuel flow...float valve may stick as well

That didn’t help me at all. Full battery, lights in no sound from efi unit no crank at all. That was not covered. I’m guessing it’s a relay or switch. 2019 iron 1200.

This is too obvious tips if you cant figure them out by yourself u shouldn't touch your motorcycle at all... i got one tip that is not so obvious for everyone, if your motorcycle wont start, backfire through carbs, pops a lot, your pistons stop or even reverse when cranking. Your timing is bad because of bad wiring in ignition coils. Check your ignition coils wiring, you probably switched them accidently is what i did.
