    Young man extremely talented video with no music and no chit chat just basic instructions on how to get it done. Also I've run across at the drive belt or the variator or the clutch either one of those three are in a bind due to the fact that someone tried to kick it over and the kick spring inside the case unwound or the belt broke you'll still get that clicking so it cuz it can't turn over that may help so I always take the side cover off look at the clutch variator and belt and you're right those starters after they sit they all need a good cleaning WD-40 a little of your magic hands thank you

      You need to check your carb., maybe needs to be cleaned? Make sure all your vacuum hoses have no cracks in them. Are you running a airbox or a pod filter? If an airbox, make sure it is connect securely to the carb. The bike started, so you are getting spark.

    nice vid showing diagnostic procedures, however they did'nt yield any information. Hung a starter and it worked. But we dont know why. But i digress, parts for these are stupid cheap and you can totally throw parts at them until they work again. An amp draw on the starter wold be great, youre little power pack, im sure produces much more power than the stocker battery. Wonder is the starter had a shorted winding, similar to an automotive failure that causes the illusion of a bad battery.

      I do have one concern... I did get my bike started using the kickstarter and noticed that the battery was at about a little more than half of what it usually is. Is it because it's not running off the solenoid or alternator?
      I did order a new starter and solenoid and hopefully it goes smoothly and I don't fuck it up.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  5 лет назад +2

      @@erikpetrie637 I don't think you will mess it up. Do you have a battery tender? Our bikes don't really have an alternator, but it's a stator under your cooling fan that keeps the battery charged when the bike it running. The bike wouldn't even start it not connected to the solenoid and the stator.
      Take a reading off the battery with multimeter, before going for a ride... take a nice long ride if you can...measure the battery again, if the battery hasn't increased even a little, then you might need a new one.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 года назад

      You know E, I thought the same thing. so this is my theory...The oil that got into the starter didn't allow it it to spin while on the bike. I would almost bet that when you hit the starter button your not getting a whole 12.6+ volts directly to the starter. When I had it connect to the jumper that is direct voltage with nothing in the way. It's gonna spin under that load as long as it isn't broken or jammed. I think the starter was just weak. You know when people hit their starters with a screwdriver and getting them to work kind of thing. Ain't nobody doing all that, when it can be replaced for cheap. Also I have a 171cc engine, I'm suppose to have a high torque starter..

      Amber, do you have a multimeter? The most important part of this video is measuring the voltage going through the individual components. Hey Frank, I had to look this one up. But this is what I found with a no spark situation on this bike.
      Possible failure of the ignition unit. you need to trace the voltage to the coil, the trigger voltage if absent then the ignition system is defective. Check the input and also the 12 volt to the coil , if coil is heating it can be faulty.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  3 года назад

      The starter had a lot of oil in it, that was drained before the bench test. It's possible that under nothing to turn, the starter had enough power to spin, but couldn't turn my motor over (171cc). This was kinda and take a chance and see approach. I knew I had to fix the bike or it was a death of the channel. The voltage regulations I learned the night before filming. I also knew because of working on cars for 30 years what to look for, and played "process of elimination". I do know this was well after, but I did upgrade my electrical wiring running from the battery up to the solenoid, just in case.

      Real talk, check your battery connections, and your grounds. Was this a brand new scooter that you put together?

    Can someone help me. Mine clicks exactly how it dose in the video and the lights and horn work so it’s not the battery. But mine is only a 50cc

      Then the problem is either the solenoid or the starter. Short out solenoid with a a screwdriver to see if it cranks, if you do get a spark then replace the starter.

      Kachi's Kid thank you, it did spark but still didn’t turn on

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  5 лет назад

      So the engine is attempting to kick over? So it seems the solenoid is good. Do you have a starter that you can swap out?

    • @cristian112800
      @cristian112800 5 лет назад

      Kachi's Kid no the engine doesn’t do anything, the solenoid just starts to click and click

      @@cristian112800 could you make a short video and send it to kachiskid@gmail? When you kick start does the engine turn over?

    So if the starter was ok, why did you put a new one in? why didn't the old one start the bike? just wondering.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  5 лет назад

      The old starter wasn't okay, it was the problem because oil killed the seals in the old one. I recently bought another because I thought it was my problem. Attempted to send back and would have to pay $7 in shipping, better to keep them for $16.

    Mine spins when jumped, but when reconnecting to my atv It would work for 2-3 sec cranking then go back to just clicking on the solenoid (tried a new one too).
    After that I cleaned the wire from solenoid to starter and now it came white smoke from it. Wire is a lill too short imo etc. Maybe I need a new wire as it seemed twisted a lot

    • @kachiskid

      Seems like you have a short in one of the wires. Clean the contacts for the starter also.

    Another potentially helpful tip, check the starter bendix and the starting gear or "pulley" with the teeth the bendix matches to turn the engine over.
