I have a buyer who paid for an item,he didn't read my description properly,i described it as collection/pick up only.He wanted it posted,i agreed.But the buyer say he hasn't got the money for p&p...he's had over 2 weeks now to send a paypal payment or other means.I've made a complaint to ebay/opened a dispute.What should i do now?? @@SamsonTV But if the buyer is a scammer it won't help. It used to be that all the scammers were sellers. I still remember the name of one. There was a mail group for these so you could check them out ahead of time. Now the situation has reversed. And of course it's easy to create a new buyer ID if they're busted. Maybe we should only sell to people with over 100 good transactions?

I am glad I didn't fall for the scam but it made me realize that not all buyers have good intentions. The buyer said he/she was interested in an item that I was selling, but wanted me to send the item to a different address ( not on their eBay account) and on top of that, the buyer also requested that I include a gift card of $300 and said he/she would pay me $300 for it, $50 for the shipping, and $50 for the inconvenience! so I immediately realize it was a scam! So I decided to educate myself about further potential scams and came across your video. very helpful! thank you :-). Keep making videos about this and your knowledge and experience with eBay, i am sure it helps all existing sellers and new ones.

Wow Yasmin, I literally just today had a guy asking me to do the same thing said to send it to his cousin with the gift card and extra money, so sad that people are this corrupt and low. Glad we didn’t fall for it
I just had that happen to me today. Buyer bought my item, then sent me a note asking me to call her... she had questions. I emailed her back and said you can text me on my cell phone (which luckily was a burner phone). She asked me to ship the item to her nieces house and, if I was OK with it, to purchase a $500 gift card for Amex, and she would give me $25 for shipping all of it and $49 for my inconvenience. She is my 2nd sale, so I freaked out. Talked to my hubby - and we agreed that we would tell her NO! She hasn't paid me for the product or communicated since... now what? Do I report her, wait, any advice? Help!
@@leeannnelson3011 you can cancel the order or it will cancel automatically after 4 days. If the buyers tries to report you to eBay, you can share the the communication between you and the buyer with eBay. I have had numerous buyers who purchase something from me, but never pay! I even had ones who send me offers, I accept, then they ask me to cancel their transaction 🤦🏻♀️ many buyers have a note on the description stating that if payment is not received within 4 hours, the transaction will be cancelled. It stinks that eBay is the only platform out there that allows buyers to purchase something without paying immediately 🤦🏻♀️
It happened to me too. I’m like it must look like I have JACKASS written across my forehead because what person is going to send you that much money hoping you actually put it on the gift card 😑 they just trust easily out here? Lol that has SCAM written all over it.
First one is simple - buyer must go through return process, when received item back only then refund. Send all items tracked! Thumbs up to this guy for highlighting these scams. Please remember though that it isn't just the buyers doing the scamming! Many sellers mis-sell their items or conveniently "forget" to mention any flaws. Many sellers just put "item sold as seen (with often poor images to back this up) or "used condition". What in hell does that tell the buyer about the condition of the item!

I fell victim to the item not as described scam when I was a new seller and had no feedback and to counter this, now I record myself packaging up high value items inside of my car and keep the item and box in frame the entire time while I wait in line and mail the item. I do this to have a continuous take of myself mailing the exact item and proof of shipping it. Filming inside a post office isnt technically allowed but I have figured out work arounds. Its a hassle but when I am selling cameras worth thousands of dollars I have no choice. One time I had my gf recording on her phone and the post office workers questioned me about it and I told them I needed video record to avoid scam buyers. I am wondering if you have any other ways to defeat the item not as described scam?

I have no feedback and neither does the buyer, what you think? I even contacted the buyer saying I will deliver today and got no response. The item will be there June 11th

I'm moving and want to sell a ton of stuff, but most of what I see are videos about scammers. I feel like I'd end up losing money no matter how hard I tried. 😤 I've been trying to look up other ways to sell than online, but it's difficult.

First sale I ever made on eBay was a scam. They sent me an offer for the exact price I was selling the item. I should’ve known right then. I accepted the offer and then they sent me a message asking me to text them so we could go over shipping. I replied telling them I would do no transactions off the eBay platform. They never responded and within a few weeks their account was closed.
Wow, i literally just had this happen to me today, I was so happy cuz I sold 3 items to 3 different users, got a message from each one saying that same thing. So now i don't know what to do, the listings have been marked as sold and pending payment But obviously they aren't won't bw completing these sales. Any tips?

All these scams ,,,, it really doesn't make eBay look like an attractive buy / sell option. I'm an older person, I buy things at the store, in person. Perhaps this isn't as convenient as eBay but I don't have to worry about scams, just pay and take the item home. Inconvenient but it works very well.

Item not as described is more often a legit problem if you are a BUYER. (I have sold on Ebay some and got scammed). But, I buy frequently on Ebay and usually the item IS as described. As an estimate, I would say maybe one out of twenty purchases I make are indeed Not as Described. I decided last year to no longer be scammed on those items . I don't buy if the photo does not show a flaw as mentioned in the description. I no longer buy Chinese if I know about it as these items are usually cheap and made for pennies. I get a refund and return the item if it is not as described. I think your video makes people think ONLY sellers get scammed. BUYERS do too! Linda from Va USA

Hi mate, thanks for the kind words. In regards to registered mail I recommend using registered mail for all items except for small items under $30 which will pass as letters. I do plan on doing an updated beginner guide in the future - I can't guarantee that it will be under 10 mins but it shouldn't be much longer then 10-12mins just to cover the basics.

The collection scam happened to my friend but luckily he has CCTV at his house, after telling the buyer he had clear footage of them collecting the item in person, the buyer closed the case and he never heard from them again.

Ebay sounds to unsafe these days for me to do selling with all these scams and probably there are other types out there. Seems these days, more people are trying to get items for free by doing these scams such as claiming it was wrong item, etc. I am not counting out there are probably bad sellers also. I will buy from Ebay from time to time on just certain un-expensive items and have had good luck over the years with what I have bought. Thanks for the videos.
Ebay is o/k if you just look carefully at the description and details . Look at the sellers feedback , it can tell you a lot . Its not just buyers that get up to dirty tricks , i have another comment here , check it out and you will see what i mean

I just started selling and I got one where they ask you to ship item + gift cards to a different address and then they pay you for all of it plus give you extra over PayPal. Seemed too good to be true so I declined and then the next day eBay emailed me to tell me that that seller had apparently been hacked. Another one that I've seen in my first week on eBay is scammers using really old accounts like 1999, that appear to be somebody's grandmother, and they buy expensive items but never confirm payment. I think they do this because they figure if they do it to 20 different people, one person will forget and ship them the item. Especially frustrating because all of us have to file a report. Scammers are absolute trash.

I got scammed by a seller, bought a plastic model that you glue together and he sent a different model in a plastic rubbish bag, arrived crashed. Opened a wrong item dispute and ebay sided with him. He wanted the item sent back to him minus a 50% restocking fee. Just let it go, is there a way I can block a seller from ever appearing on my search results? One seller scam that wasn't listed is the seller listing a picture of an item that sells on Amazon and stating that it is a higher quality item . Once you send them a higher amount than you would have paid on Amazon they order it and have it shipped to you . This happened to me . I even listed in my note to the seller that I didn't mind paying more for the higher quality and made in the USA . The item I received was in an Amazon shipping box and inside was another box from China .

We are new at selling on Ebay and have had several bad experiences right at the gate. Buyers that don't pay. Then we have had 2 buyers ask us to call the phone number they have provided. This is how we have responded to to this request. We send them a message saying that we only communicate through Ebay. Then we do not hear back from them. We were pretty sure that this was some kind of scam. But was wondering what kind of scam was this. What would have happened if we would have called the number? Just curious. This is all so new and confusing.
Found out recently that any digital warranty purchased for electronic items, does NOT come with ANY buyer protection.
Even if the item purchased turned out to be a scammer that EBay refunded you for, at their expense. Still the secondary purchase will NEVER be refunded. (squaretrade)

My first item sold was a scam. The buyer offered twice the amount and I accepted. Nothing happened from there because eBay interceded and took my listing off. I was instructed to not communicate with the buyer, etc. I didn’t receive payment nor did I lose money. I’m not sure what the scammer was planning.
'Send to different address'. ebay CS say as long as the different address request is in an ebay message, then that is fine. Also the buyer changing postal address in their ebay profile, does not register with items already sold.
It really sucks how scamming has gotten out of hand I've been scammed only once in Facebook marketplace.
I got taken for a pair of $250 J's. He said they were not as described. I had 11 pictures. Even found his IG account and he was WEARING them. He returned the box with tape all over it, the shoes were trashed and had numerous scuffs. eBay/PayPal sided with him and refunded him. I'm in the middle of an "unauthorized purchase" but with eBay's new authentication process means the shipping takes much longer. I only have 5 days to show proof of delivery or the refund will be issued. Literally nothing I can do but wait. Seller protection is trash.

Thank you so much Samson. I am a new seller on eBay and I’m being really frustrated. I get messages from buyers who pretend they have a question and ask me to text a phone number. While I’m happy having an offer on my items, I responded by texting the number and asking what their question was , only for them to say they are service men and were interested in buying the item for their sisters or cousins and asking me to help them buy a gift card to send with the items, offering to pay me the cost of the items, plus $400 for the gift card and extra $50 for my trouble. I knew right away that these were fraudsters. I called the eBay customer service and was told to send the message to eBay but that hasn’t stopped it. They keep sending me the same message in different forms and I’m really frustrated. What can I do to stop this?
This is probably one of the reasons eBay tells you to do handle the whole process through them.
I noticed there's a scam bad sellers use, if you leave negative feedback after never receiving your purchase they ask you to remove it in return for your refund(holding it hostage essentially) but if you hold your ground they'll use a fake tracking number to show your item delivered then they ask ebay to remove the negative feedback. If a seller has only a handful of positive feedback and absolutely no negative feedback...huge red flag, IMO.

Paypal has a time limit on a seller refunding purchased item if a buyer does not file a claim and the seller said they will refund. Seemingly cooperative seller then waits for that time limit to end and never refund. I had a seller try it but I knew the facts, waited for 2 days before and filed complaint. I enjoyed that. Check it out.

The biggest scammer is Ebay itself. With the high cost of fees, now having to report sales to IRS, and they do not support a scammed person.
I quit selling on Ebay completely last month. I'm done with them.
Great vid Samson. There seems to be a new trending scam where the buyer escalates the request to a case the day they receive the item in an attempt to get a refund and to keep the item. It is imperative to alway load the tracking information into the item not received request

Some guy just committed to buy my shoes on eBay and asked me to ship to Brampton Canada instead of Washington bc it would be his cousins bday gift. I said I would only ship to the address on the shipping label ebay gives me and he was okay with that, hasn’t actually paid for the item and I wonder if he actually will pay for it?
I'm being targeted by a whole ring of scammers each trying a different scam within days of each other. I had previously been selling with minimal issue for 12 years. Now suddenly every other buyer is trying something on.

I have encountered a problem with ebay dont know if it is a scam or or not but would love to hear your opinion this I bought a wiccan altar table on eBay and the seller sent it to the wrong address and it was however something really strange happened I bought the item had enough money in my bank account to buy the item and I got a email saying it was not successful so I looked into it myself went to the earlier email saying I got it got the tracking number it was false and when the real tracking number it was sent to Queensland with my name on it eventually got but a month later I bought a another table from the shops thinkning it was not going to arrive the table that arrived a month later was smaller than the other I got from the shops I thought it was coming from America but it was actually from India
@@tonyxxx9463 so long story I am wiccan and i ordered a wiccan altar table on eBay I made the payment got email saying it was all paid for then got another email saying it had denied my bank card so I found out it did go through nothing was wrong with my bank card so I contacted the seller because it had my name on it but end up in Queensland so I thought I would get help from the seller who sold it to me so I asked the seller what happened and she said she had never heard of me paying for the item so i bought a new table at my local shopping center and got a new one one month later the other table arrived so I am stuck with 2 of them one small table and one big one

Hey mate, I've been hit... buyer took delivery Friday, messages me tonight advising he's changed his mind and wants a refund and demands the refund BEFORE he returns the item. I have a No Refunds policy... he threatens bad feedback, etc... then I check his listed items and found he has listed the item for sale for $25 more !! I've reported to Ebay but have been left with the bad feedback... ill try get that reversed tomorrow but am worried considering its my first and only bad feedback after 200+ sales... any advice?
Don't panic mate. From the sounds of things, eBay will definitely remove this as that is not a legitimate neg. Get in contact with customer support ASAP and explain the situation.
When you get this resolved, I'd consider blocking them on eBay.
I've had sellers not send and I've paid by paypal,. Why do they bother when PayPal won't allow them access to money until proven safe? A lot of time wasters.i am concerned with eBay though. Their dispute system is not smooth. And I think some scams are from insiders as things like the item I've purchased details disappear and show as deleted. More scamming to come as humanity dives head first into crapness

Scammers are tricky, sneaky, they like to confuse and are everywhere, one as an individual can take many precautions but at the end of the day when you make a payment or a deposit to a complete stranger there is always the fear that something will go wrong, even if you do it on some platform that offers a buyer protection program, it is not a guarantee that you will not be scammed nor does it guarantee that you can get a refund. What you need is an intermediary, someone who takes care of the money and is in charge of giving flow to the transaction and will not release it until you are satisfied, it would be the same as a seller, as long as you do your part correctly you can be sure that the intermediary will give you your money, no matter the buyer says. I dont mean to promote or advertise anything, I just wanted to tell that I am currently working on a proyect that is conceived with the sole purpose of ending scams once and for all. i have had to change address a couple times due to forgetting to set the po box as the default address and fortunately all the purchases was legit and i got the item sent to my po box.
i have seen some sellers canceling the order and i had to re buy and list the correct address and i thank all of you sellers making that standard practice because while i am legit you have no idea if i am legit so you are protecting your self.
The biggest scam is selling junk as like new then ignoring the customer.

Yes, but only if the item is damaged / faulty.

Are you new to using Paypal? If so the funds may just be on hold. When in doubt contact eBay customer support.

@@SamsonTV I sold a Sony hd Blueray player for $90 free shipping. The buyer recieved it and said it wouldn't power on. I know it turned on before I sent it because I tested it. I didn't want to get scammed so I did it as an extra precaution, well useless precaution considering I didn't take down the upc or video record any of the process, you live and you learn I guess. Now he wants a full refund. He claims he's sending it back I hope he doesn't and if he does I have a gut feeling it's not gonna be the same as I sent it smh

Hi just brought a battery for a vacuum cleaner battery and received a completely different battery. Clearing the seller is either stupid or scamming me. Maybe you could include this in your next video

eBay never protect copyright laws , as I brought a pop vinyl , was real item in photo an description , but when I received it it was a fake well after I got refund an told eBay that pop vinyl was a fake , well I have noticed eBay hasn’t taken down this store they allowing them to continue selling fakes
Ebay protects the buyers and not the seller. I sold a iPhone 12 Pro Max. The buyer said they received the item with no phone in the box and then eBay said I owed them. A total ripoff. I will never sell with them again.

Hi I just purchased an used iPhone from them and it said the seller is removed and I am unable to contact the seller. I don’t know what to do now. I don’t know if the seller has stole my money or what.
I would definitely contact eBay customer support. If you are unable to contact them then I Would file a chargeback with Paypal / your card provider.

@@arisworld6711 It isn't called a chargeback with Paypal. Just tell them you didn't receive the item just like you do in Ebay. You will get your money back.

My boy forgot to mention the eBay gift card scam where Ebay can take up to $200 for fraud and security measures and freeze the gift card right after you purchased it at the store. And if you don’t have the receipt to the gift card you can’t get your card unfrozen. Poof forever gone $200.
I got scammed once on ebay , buyer said he never recieved the item , despite me having the papers to prove that i sent the item, gave him the postal number and everything , and he got his money back anyway... Learned my lesson , never selling on ebay again...
My husband purchased a chainsaw but never received it! The sellers number was disconnected, never responded to emails etc. PayPal ruled in seller's favor because he came up with a tracking number. The item only weighed 2.6 lbs! Definitely less than the chainsaw was suppose to weigh! It's a lot of money gone!
