      @Patriot4TheTree 2 года назад +3

      They do that because people were selling a $20 item for $1 and then charging the customer $30 for shipping. I understand why they did that, but the 13% final sale fee they charge us is the ridiculous part. That's the true robbery. There is NO WAY the platform, the advertising or customer acquisition is worth paying 13%.

    you didn't mention that the previous FVF ignores taxes where as the new one does not.
    if you sell an item for 100$ and there is a 10% sales tax $100 + $10 = $110. the new FVF fee is 12.35% of the TOTAL INCLUDING TAX (12.35% of $110). Fee total = $13.58
    In the old system is would be 2.9% PayPal on the total. 2.9% of $110 = $3.19, and 10% on $100 = $10. Fee total = $13.19.
    eBay cut out the middle man and managed to increase your fees (unless there's no sales tax)

    1:20 - The problem with eBay charging 30p for a transaction, is that when you refund a buyer because for example their address is wrong or whatever other reason, eBay will NOT refund you the 30p transaction fee, but PayPal does!
    Also, at 2:12 - You mention Australia and show the fees on screen, so if that $0.30 is in Australian Dollars, then as of 21/03/2021 in GBP you would be paying almost 50% less in transaction fee, as $0.30 AUD is £0.17 GBP, but for UK eBay sellers the transaction fee is £0.30 GBP, which is $0.54 AUD. Moreover, Google telling me eBay owns PayPal even though they are operating seperately, which means they actually could be profiting from that 0.30 units of whatever currency they are using to charge for...

    Now I have to wait a processing day, then the day of deposit, and idk, hopefully I will get the funds on the 3rd day?

  • @peterrogers7935
    @peterrogers7935 3 года назад +1

    I think the key points that you missed out here are that eBay have just decided they want a bigger slice of your 'profit' under any circumstances. If a buyer comes to my house and paid in cash, PayPal was not involved - so no PayPal fees were made. Now the 'PayPal' fee is rolled into the Final Value Fee, so use PP or not, you still end up paying for it. Fair play? You decide. Secondly, eBay having to pay PP transaction fees? And there I was thinking that PP was a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay. Finally, it's a bit rich of eBay to ban any 'transaction surcharges' for sellers, when if they feel that they are 'allegedly' having to transaction pay fees, they just move the goalposts, and charge everyone more! Still, it's the same all over the World - One law for them, and another for the 'rest of us'......

If you don't pay for a store and are only using your 200 free listings then you will not be invoiced any final value, insertion or store fees under managed payments, your fees will be deducted automatically. When does eBay take their seller fee. I just started selling items on eBay, but my PayPal balance shows how much I made only subtracting the PayPal fee. Why didn’t eBay take their fee?

    Now guys, if you're selling outside your own country, which most of us are, for example, to the USA, the US$ could have been transferred out of PayPal in US$ to your bank account. Your bank can do the conversion at a much better rate. Now, eBay will transfer funds, without the option to retain the original currency, with a MASSIVE currency conversion penalty. Look into it... they're not telling anyone about it, and you have NO CHOICE. This is a big cost....
    After 16 years, we're leaving eBay due to the new system.

    It seems like managed payments will be plus going forward. I didn't understand the $20 Paypal fee on a charhe back. Does that mean if a customer has a return then sellers are charge $20 for processing?

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  4 года назад

      No, returns will still be dealt with between you and the buyer. If the buyer charges back their payment on Paypal (basically cancels the transaction by telling Paypal it was accidental) then the fee will be incurred. This is very rare but does occasionally;y happen.

With that said, I'm not sure if it's worth dealing with the $20 dispute fee... There are jerks out there that dispute for no reason right... who knows. Anyone else have their input on this??... I'm just a regular seller trying to get rid of my hoarded items. :) Not a power seller.

    I used to pay 9% on eBay and pay 3% to Paypal. So 12% just sold an item on EBay after about a year. Now they cut out PayPal but my fee is 12.9% now, which is .9% more fees. I still use PayPal and I haven't been paid by eBay yet. It's been 2 days.

    I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that we have to pay a final value fee on tax. That shouldn't even be legal. In my opinion eBay shouldn't even be charging tax. I mean when I bought the item tax was paid on it. Why is it every time someone resales it they get a tax again?

    FYI the 30c fixed fee has nothing to do with paypal. Also chargebacks occur when someone disputes a transaction that appears on their credit card/bank account. Paypal does not have to be a party to a transaction for a chargeback to occur.

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  4 года назад

      Thanks for the info, I assumed the 30c fee was to cover the fee eBay would have to pay Paypal when a buyer uses the service to pay? As far as the charge-backs I agree that is a good explanation, buyers essentially tell Paypal (via their bank) that the payment was illegitimate/not made by them/fraud etc. 👍🏼

    • @clairenapolitano6116
      @clairenapolitano6116 4 года назад

      @@SamsonTV No Buyers are no longer required to use paypal to pay for purchases. They can use credit cards, google pay, apple pay, after pay etc and they can instigate a chargeback through any of those channels. If they haven't used paypal to pay, then paypal has no involvement whatsoever.

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  4 года назад

      That is true, but if they use Paypal then a 30c would be incurred, therefore eBay would need to charge that to sellers. Which is, I think, why they are adding the 30c fee.

    Wanna know how ebay gets $165 on an item you paid $1000 for? Ebay takes a 75% cut of profits AFTER they've padded your item's sell price. You will only make $50 while bay makes $165. Your return on investment is 5%. There's the magic rip off. How much of your $50 is really left from the time you spent creating the ad, taking pics, taking it to the post office adding insurance?
