Sorry to hear it man that sucks. Not an internet story but I got screwed out of $1300 dealing with a brick and mortar gun store. I wanted a rifle that they don’t stock but said they could order, I paid up front. I then hear they are going out of business. I drive to the store to get my money back but the owner tells me they filed bankruptcy. So there is no money and I find out they never placed my order. I was so mad I was physically sick. I did not have a high paying job at that time and it had taken me a long time to save that money up. I feel for you man.

@@LTElvisebay themselves tell you not to send money out of ebay when doing a transaction because scammers use other methods of payments to scam. I’ve dealt with quite a few as well ive sold thousands of items and theres some sketchy ass people
@@LTElvisits pretty obvious if someone is trying to convince you to sell them the item through a personal transaction and not through ebay that it’s clearly a scammer
I had the exact same scam tried on me. When they say they want to buy the item off the site that is the first red flag. The phony email from PayPal was so poorly formatted I knew it was fake. Luckily before I shipped the item.
Thank you so much for this video. Just started selling on ebay. As a mom I try to find a more flexible way to make some cash. I just had a buyer do the same thing to me luckily I came across your video. Saved me from getting scammed. I pray you receive double the blessings. Thanks 🙌
It’s risky to sell high value items, as I recently learned. I sold one of our old iPhones in October. Then about 4 months later I started getting emails from PayPal, which looked sketchy, informing me that the buyer wanted a refund because the item was defective/not as described. I ignored them since I saw no messages on PayPal or eBay about this issue. Eventually I received an email telling me that the case was closed and ruled in favor of the buyer, which I still ignored. Well, today I found out I have a negative balance and since the case is closed they won’t let me do anything about it. 😡 I’m done with eBay for now. It’s just not worth it.
If you guys ship a package and figure out it's a scam, you can retrieve the package before delivery. Also, most of these scammers have you ship the item to a forwarding shipping company that ships the item to the scammer outside of the country, so if you google the address, you can find out the name of the forwarding company and call them to not ship to the scammer. If the scam occurred through paypal, you should also seek compensation from paypal.
Ugh! That sucks! So sorry that happened to you! I’m a new seller on eBay and I have to say the fortunate thing is that the only “scams” I’ve encountered so far is when a “buyer” makes me the offer, I accept and then they leave me hanging there with no payment. It ties up my item for 4 days until I can cancel due to non payment of the buyer but at least I keep my item. Always keep all communication thru eBay only so you have a paper trail. And also, I almost got scammed when the buyer suddenly changed their shipping address - they paid $25 for the shipping on eBay but then wanted it shipped to another address 2,000 miles away (which ended up costing $94 to ship). Fortunately, I canceled the order first and told him to repurchase under the new address that he wanted the item to go to. You can’t be too careful!
Similar story that happened to me... but it was someone who made a username almost identical to the actual buyer. I changed the address and lost my money and item. Homeowners insurance covered this for me but law enforcement didn’t do anything for me. eBay is really become scam central in the pay few years and I’ve been buying and selling for 15 years. Thanks for video man. Good luck in the future
Well just dont do sales outside ebay ive bought 50 times from ebay package always arrive just check the sellers reviews mostly i always bought from 90 and up rating
Sounds like a professional crime ring. They are more skillful at scamming than the average jerk. I've been scammed a few times, but nothing big. I think you're right, they are likely out of the country and untouchable. Don't feel bad for being scammed, they were very good at being horrible. Thank you SO much for sharing this info, I learned something and you have saved others from being taken in.
Don't feel stupid. I've made a similar mistake recently but as a buyer. I lost $1000 on a seller scam. Ebay is a sketchy environment. I appreciate you sharing your story. Don't listen to the haters out there. The internet is a savage community.
The scammers I've run into are vintage/high end clothing resellers. I sold one guy a beautiful, pristine Pendleton shirt (retail $140). He got a really good deal at $30. He sent a complaint that it was "full of holes". I knew it wasn't, as I take LOTS of pics and don't use them all in the ad. He sent a magnified photo of the inside shoulder/sleeve seam where he had picked out one single thread, no holes, it was ridiculous. I had taken pics of the inside of the shirt, the same area so I sent him that pic. I told him to send the shirt back and I would give him a full refund. He got angry, "I love this shirt! I don't want to give it back!" but he wanted me to give him a "partial refund" of $20. I told him no, and quit communicating with him. I looked at his feedback, and his store. He sells vintage clothes, but for ridiculously high prices. He rarely sells anything, but when he does, it's overpriced. His feedback was full of sellers he had scammed with this "partial refund" crap, who found he was flipping their items he claimed were damaged and unusable. He didn't get me, and since I offered a full refund eBay wasn't going to force me to give him any kind of refund. I'll never give a partial refund, unless I made a mistake. It's become a very common scam.
A similar thing happened to me and Ebay didn't stand behind me even tho I had proof the buyer received his package. Didn't lose nearly as much money you did but I still know the feeling.
Rule number 1. Never correspond outside of eBay. I've sold on different venues for many years and always expect scammers. Whenever I sell on Craigslist I always get scam messages within minutes but I have learned what not to do. I've bought and sold on eBay since it began and it is very safe if you watch your P's and Q's.
Agree with you but you are in trouble if you sell something and the tracking number get frozen because the country you ship to just don't scan it! Then you have to refund the buyer if he/she open a case "item not received" even if he get the item but you can't proof it! It happened to me couple of times but there are still good people around the world and same case happened to me again i ship something buyer open a case i refund him back the money and after 2 months the buyer message me that he finaly receive the item and he wanted to know how he will pay me! It's like you catch the lottery!
Very sorry that this happened to you. These people look for good people to scam and you're good people. I am glad to hear that you informed the FBI. You might not get anything back but your report helps document and track this guys behavior and each step helps the FBI find this guy. Documentation is important ! I'd enjoy a second channel if you have the band-width for it.

Thank you for this video. I have posted my first item on Ebay over the weekend. I was super excited because I have watched a ton of videos and was ready to get started. I posted my item as buy now and I got bids from people offer me more. This guy was like he had more questions about the item and wanted me to text him. So I texted him and answer his or her questions. Then he requested that I send my pay-pal info, and when I redirected him back to the site. I got other bids and they were requesting for me to text them because they had more questions. I then called Ebay and ask was this normal. They informed that it was not. What was crazy all the users that was requesting more info was new accounts that was set up that day. They almost had me too....so this was helpful. They have my product tied up like people are super interested....not going to let it stop me tho....
I noticed that scammers target all the websites now such as Craigslist, offer up, and ebay. All the stories are very similar most having to do with buying a present for someone but with a tight turn around which requires overnight shipping
@@franciscorosario359 you actually can. It literally shows you where you are shipping it to. I write everyone’s address everytime I sell something on ebay. If you print it from the ebay site it still has the address on it. You are a literal bum lol

I recently ordered 2 halfves American gold silver eagles $1988.00 dollars for both to be exact. They never arrived , questioned seller , seller claimed they were send and needed signature at deliver it , postman claimed due to Covid-19 the package was left in mailbox , I talked to postmaster she agreed that a mistake was made by not having a signature from me , but item was delivered, and nothing she can't do . Ebay won't take responsability , seller either , so i lost almost 2 grand .
Just got another scam with purchasing a vehicle. The "seller" advertised on Facebook marketplace but wanted to get my address and full name to send me the vehicle using Ebay. I really wonder who would be coming to my door! I told him that I would go to the location to look at the vehicle and he said no, Ebay was handling the shipping and payment. I then asked for his Ebay account so I could see ratings and make sure he actually has an Ebay account. He didn't email me back as obviously he didn't have the vehicle and is just collecting money from people who respond as well as emails and addresses. If it's too good to be true than it probably isn't true. Always remember that!
I just saw a vehicle of Facebook marketplace and the seller told me that she is in Illinois and she has a contract w/ebay. Ebay sent me an email saying to go to 7/11 and get 5 ebay cards and put $200 on each for a deposit of $1,000 and after I do that the seller said that she would have the vehicle sent to me within 3 days. Do you think that this is a scam?
Has a seller ever pulled bait and switch shipping on you where you chose ups as a shipping method at checkout and the seller shipped it to you usps instead of ups and it says shipping service ups and it showed a usps tracking number in the tracking on eBay

You should also file a police report in the state where you shipped the item. They will go out to the house and investigate because it is a crime. Do you have the serial number to teh camera. If so, You can also have your camera entered as stolen. Look on Ebay, Offer Up, and other selling platforms and see if your camera is listed for sale. You can then contact the police and hopefully get your camera back. Good luck

Ebay should be the middle man that receives what the seller is selling, verify's the content, and then ships it out to the buyer, this will eliminate all scams, and complaints, it's that simple. BTW, I do sell, but "NEVER" on Ebay.
Same thing happened to me few days ago. But first he sent an offer on eBay that was over the listed price. You got scammed for selling OFF eBay. This is very unlikely to happen to anyone who follows eBay rules and procedures, and actually sells ON eBay. I have never heard of a scam like this succeeding ON eBay, but the imagination of scammers is greater than my knowledge...
As an honest ebay seller, scamming through there takes 30 minutes of youtube knowledge to learn these simple scams but it’s literally 1# rule of scams never take the transaction outside of ebay because that’s how you get scammed
Ebay has been a known scam site for years now. The worst problem is that the people that own the site always tend to take the scammers word over seller's. This is the best reason why I only tend to do face to face sales with people.
Not true. The scammer lured the victim into an outside of ebay transaction. How would ebay side with scammer when they have no record of the scam? In order to side with the scammer, the entire transaction would have to be done on ebay not just listing the item. You think a scammer who creates a fake paypal website will be communicating with eBay? Of course not so how would ebay take their word of a seller?
I have paypal through ebay and somehow someone was able to buy an item with my account. I called ebay and paypal and they gave me my money back told me to change my password on both. but now i know to look out for that scam along with all the others out there. ty and talk away

PLUS if you go outside of ebay and dont let ebay handle shipping any high priced products should be insured by postal service USPS up to 5000 dollars , record and take photos of everything and require signature upon delivery ..Also on Ebay select pay immediately option
People blaming eBay but it's kinda common sense not to give someone you haven't even seen physically without having the money first. With that said, it's still unfortunate for you man. For 1200$ its worth flying out to Florida and get the local police department involved. You can take him to small claims court if you don't wait too long. Might cost you 300-400$ and time but you want to be out the full 1200$.
Those Ebay etc "scammers" suck...I use USPS Money Orders when buying guns and ammo anyways, will not ship til money is in my bank I have seen the fake emails also.
When you sell anything expensive and you are target by a thief or destructive customer. One of two things will happen if you offer free returns and if you don't one thing will happen. For those who don't offer free returns the buyer automatically gets their money back as ebay will rule in their favor. If you offer free returns say you sold a $1500 laptop the buyer said item not as described and sends you back a rock instead. You have two options give the buyer $1500 for his rock or you can give him as low as $750 for it. Ebay show you another option when you are issuing the refund called "issue with the buyer" don't even click it because it's like flipping a rigged coin heads the buyer wins tails you loose. You click it and it says "buyer returns wrong item or empty box" but after speaking with two reps and a supervisor I was informed that Ebay will automatically decide the case in the buyers favor. SO why put that option there if the seller return wrong item or empty box if it will never help the seller? But I have video evidence of me opening the package of what the buyer sent me and the photo of what he posted that he received showing two different items. Sorry ebay don't accept video evidence. But I can file a police report with that video evidence showing male fraud because I had to do it twice as buyer and ebay was the one who sent me to get them which I did and got my money back. The supervisor actually told me that in this case a police or incident report is not applicable because I am the seller and not the buyer. Guys don't sell anything on here that you cannot afford to loose you because the only option you will have is to pay the the buyer to keep your item
You just keep sharing you are a help thanks 😁 it's like having a good neighbor who hey this might interest you thanks for your channel and time unseen by us
The extra shipping charges or anything like that you can do from PayPal I have had eBay themselves tell me that . I had a buyer who wanted something shipped and upgraded shipping I called eBay and they said to do it thru PayPal
Wow, that totally sucks mate, don't be beating yourself up for falling for this one, sounds like they are running quite the scam atm and it also looks like many others have fallen for something similar, but you are 100% correct with the never ship an item before funda have cleared philosophy. Love the content.. 👍👍🇦🇺
Yeah I had that same thing happen to me about 10 years ago for digital game items. The guy spoofed the PayPal email just like you. Luckily what I lost wasn't real items.
You’re no idiot.. I’ve been burned like this quite a few times. Almost been had this weekend. Luckily I was fortunate enough to have my package intercepted and sent back to me…
I get emails from paypal stating something is wrong with my account and account is temp shut down and click to resolve_ never click just like when you get a call from amazon or the IRS they dont call you
EBAY is allowing a buyer to leave false poor feedback on an item which was fully refunded without return. The buyer claims 100's of dollars of loss on a $25 item? Ebay currently not taking calls only emails refuses to remove negative
Good tip with those big companies on the phone a lot of times they don't even offer an option to speak to a representative but if they ask you an option just speak to an operator or a representative and usually it'll transfer you to a person.
It's quite amazing to see how gullible people are. The guy spoofed (faked) those PayPal e-mails and you thought they were real. There is no such thing as PayPal holding money after you send a money request. The request is open and the recipient of the request either pays or doesn't pay. If he does, you get the money immediately. If he doesn't, the request stays open until you close it (or maybe there is a time limit after which it expires, not sure). PayPal support guy saying it's a common thing for the money to be put on hold either didn't have a clue (which is common) or he was thinking of something else. Spoofing e-mails is the main thing these scammers do. Now, regarding selling on eBay ... that's a gamble you can easily lose. Everybody knows eBay sides with the buyer, meaning that if you're a seller, you have to be prepared to eat losses as part of doing business. This means you can only survive if you're a business with lots of sales and you can eat losses as you go. As a private seller, you're screwed. Everyone can scam you by legitimately buying something from you and then saying they received a wrong item. When they send the package back, they put something else in the box which weighs the same (that's the key). You as a seller are forced to accept a return and refund the buyer when you get the package back. Actually the refund is probably automatic. Your policy of "no returns" means NOTHING! That's just to try to keep buyers who like to return items away, but it doesn't stop them from returning an item if they want to. After you realize you got dirt back in the package all you can do is make a complaint, but you will never see your money or your item. The buyer may get a "tag" on his account which would mean eBay would suspend them if another seller reported the same thing, but ultimately that doesn't help YOU. Everybody can do this at least once. I could do it right now to someone and get a new iPhone 11 if I wanted to, using this "tactic".
I never send until the funds hit my bank and i state this on my listings. Also, if you use paypal, NEVER do the friends and families transfer. Always specify that its for a product. As a product you can get a refund if something comes up. If you do a “gift” transfer it takes away the ability to get a refund if something comes up.
Hello. I was misled by a seller on Ebay and the customer service people. I can't leave the situation like this. I have registered with customer service. Where can I go, what can I do? I don't want to leave the situation like that
Don't look for any help from the FBI. Your complaint will be written up and filed, along with hundreds of similar cases, and will be used in a statistical analysis on cyber crime sometime down the road. But expecting the FBI to jump on this case and actually look for this guy is expecting them to care more than they do.
I had a similar experience but the reverse. Also lured off ebay website. I purchased item a car, sent payment via zelle and never received the car. It's a bummer. I plan on suing the lady natalie rodriguez in torrington ct. She is such a scammer. I sent her thousands and she refuse to give me the car I purchased. Losing thousands is painful.
Sorry to hear you got ripped off. I got scammed by the same email address. Luckily I realised before i handed over a 4 grand car! It seemed off so I rang paypal and they said there was no money in my account. Awful people in the world. Ebay should be more accountable. Why are they giving out sellers details!
the people at ebay are nice but honestly the ebay seller protection is a joke. 9 outta 10 times they always side with the buyers. I just got scammed today. Buyer said the package wasn't delivered but tracking says it was. When I told them tracking shows delivered they said they call post office and they told them mail carry must have taken it. All seems very fishy. Then they asked if I would refund half. its a pair of apple air pods so we're not talking a lot of money but to me it sure is. I dont know what to do, if i refuse to refund hald they'll end up opening a claim and getting all the money back i'm sure
That could have actually happened sometimes the post office delivers the package to the wrong address. This happened to me before on eBay and the seller thought I was lying.
That sucks dude. People like this in the world fucking piss me off excuse the language. How the hell someone can steal something like that with no intention of paying and carry on like normal is beyond me.

Thanks 🙌
Man sad to see this happen to good people like you. Scams should be punished for what they do.
eBay should make an educational video about scams that all new sellers should be forced to watch before they can list anything.
I’m done with eBay for now. It’s just not worth it.
LOLOLOLOL anyone who wants to pay MORE than they have too IS A SCAM. NEVER NEVER NEVER ever ship until you get the payment IN YOUR ACCOUNT.....
E-bay is a scam. So is PayPal. I quit both. eBay needs to be sued.
Exactly!
Well just dont do sales outside ebay ive bought 50 times from ebay package always arrive just check the sellers reviews mostly i always bought from 90 and up rating
I agree about PayPal
eBay isn’t a scam this just wasn’t a very smart move.
Nah u prolly like this guy and got scammed
Mike Morgan Thank you. I appreciate the support.

I got scammed by the same exact email address... sorry to hear you did too i would like to thank you for speeding awareness. Just subbed :)
Remember, scammers don’t use PayPal because of its protection. However, it’s understandable it was your first sale. I would’ve done a “test” sale with something cheap to get a feel for it. It was kind of risky selling something that expensive as a new seller
So sad to hear this, I was scammed once and I fell the same as you.
Yep happened to me I got targeted on offer up and cash app is a scam site is now
Go to the address where you mailed the camera and burn his house down. I am sorry this happened to you.
eBay doesn’t show the address sadly.

I started buying and selling on ebay when it first started it was a fun venue for hobbyists ; it has turned into a hot mess.
You're great to listen to and thanks for the lesson. You're not the first and you sure as hell won't be the last.
That's crazy, it's nice of you to share this, on a different note what camera did you buy? The quality looks great.
Freshly Dead Thank you! Canon EOS R. I like the Sony a7iii a lot but they dont have a flip out screen. So im sticking with canon for now.
Appreciate the heads up! Don't apologize for wanting your money back; you could and would use it to help someone else! Unlike the scammers....
Has a seller ever pulled bait and switch shipping on you where you chose ups as a shipping method at checkout and the seller shipped it to you usps instead of ups and it says shipping service ups and it showed a usps tracking number in the tracking on eBay
It’s not your age bro. It happens. Some scam artists are really good at what they do and they can get to the best of us. I hate that this happened to a good guy. Rise above bro. It will be ok in the long run. I do hope this scammer gets caught but don’t count on it. Sometimes we have to eat our mistakes like a big crap sandwich but learn from it. Keep up the good work brother
file a small claims action the point of contract would be your address probably only get a default judgement but he will be in the system if they ever catch him you have a chance to recover your money check with your local attorney but filing a small claims action is usually reasonable

Good luck

What you mean ?
Rz Rubie what part didn’t you understand?
Johnny Five they mean they never ship item till it says ship now

Ebay should be the middle man that receives what the seller is selling, verify's the content, and then ships it out to the buyer, this will eliminate all scams, and complaints, it's that simple. BTW, I do sell, but "NEVER" on Ebay.
Don't buy a car on line like eBay . Finally you lost your deposit when you change your mind.
Same thing happened to me few days ago. But first he sent an offer on eBay that was over the listed price. Then he said he wanted to pay me extra 300 on PayPal if I sent the item to another address with a 300$ git card. I said no way I will do any transaction outside of eBay. So he stopped emailing me.

That sucks. These cyber crimes are getting pretty sophisticated. Thanks for sharing this lesson.
I deal with eBay everyday, it’s a matter of being on the ball, and the ability to weed through scammers

Sadly I found this out the hard way selling my first item on ebay. I had no idea there were people doing this crap on there.
I have a truck that's up for sale on eBay but the guy is paying through PayPal. Very sketchy. Waiting for PayPal to completely clear before sending

Yeah I had that same thing happen to me about 10 years ago for digital game items. The guy spoofed the PayPal email just like you. Luckily what I lost wasn't real items.
Whatever happened with the situation
we were just scammed out of a $6,000 camera and found the crooks and made a video haha wish we saw this before it happened tho!🤟🏼
So, I know this is old but what ever happened? Did you get the money or camera back?
You’re no idiot.. I’ve been burned like this quite a few times. Almost been had this weekend. Luckily I was fortunate enough to have my package intercepted and sent back to me…
I get emails from paypal stating something is wrong with my account and account is temp shut down and click to resolve_ never click just like when you get a call from amazon or the IRS they dont call you
Can't you get it sent back before it is delivered by contacting the postal service with the tracking number and police report?
02cents good to know. Thanks
Sorry sir,, I like the info. Could you make video on buying stuff on ebay?? I feel skeptical when trying to buy i feel i might get scammed also
The fbi does not even fight crime or stop sex trafficking they can care less they are a criminal organization.
Judging by the color saturation, shallow depth of field, and crop distortion, this HAS to be shot on the EOS R. Amirite?
