Okay guys, since so many people don't understand why the video is so long. One. I wanted to explain the entire situation. Two. I went over how he tried to scam me and how I prevented it. Three. then explain basic eBay scams and stuff you need to watch out for. Four. It doesn't matter what price the lot was, I've bought lots similar to this at extremely good prices and everything works. Does It wave a red flag? Yes but I knew that if it was broken then I could always return it for a refund. Five. If you are buying on eBay you are going buy from a scammer sooner or later. I also sell some of my stuff on eBay and this month I've had 3 people purchase an item and try to make it ship it to another address. For those who want an extremely basic summary of the video. He sold me a lot of games & 4 systems that were broken before they were even shipped to me. He wanted to send me a refund Via Paypal as a "Payment" so he could chargeback or file unauthorized payment on a later date. I refused and forced him to send me a refund Via current transaction which cannot be chargeback or file as a unauthorized payment .

For those that don't want to sit through 17 minutes to figure out what the scam was - the scammer sold him a heap of damaged game products, was quick to offer a partial refund but wanted to know the victim's email address for Paypal rather than go to the transaction history and issue a refund that way. Reason being, the scammer can just file a dispute with Paypal later on and recover the money as it would just appear as a random transaction rather than a refund.

I'll never use Ebay again as i got completely scammed but the other way round. I sold a gaming PC on Ebay once, buyer said it was defective, which it wasn't but i accepted the return anyway after we spoke. It was returned it to me badly damaged and incomplete (components missing), case opened, Ebay still ruled in his favour, he left me negative feedback and got a full refund. I even accepted a lower offer from the buyer and had to pay return postage, proper con!.
GodofWar98 after owning my own video game store and probably seeing 200+ GameCubes come in and out of my store, I've only seen 2 that didn't work and they were fucked up looking. If you've ever seen an old show called X-Play on the discontinued channel G4, they smashed a GameCube with a sledgehammer and dropped it from like 30 feet. It still worked after that and Morgan and Adam had to all Office Space copying machine on it to break the damn thing. GameCubes are beasts!
They really are beasts. I used to drop my GameCube countless times and it always worked. It was even capable of still playing a game for a couple minutes after removing the disc (which I found pretty bizarre). The GameCube will always be my favorite gaming console.
+GodofWar98 PlayStation did that too. Once the data it needs to read is in memory, it'll keep playing until it needs to read from the disc again. That's why monster rancher worked.
Calls himself Locke? Says "okay" like Terry Bogard? You know what, I have no idea why this was in my recommended videos, but you just earned a subscription through sheer awesomeness alone.
+MehdiBarka, if you don't sell a lot of items, one bad review can set you down 2%, 5% hell, even 10%. If you've only ever sold 10 items, 9 of them positive and 1 of them negative, you'll only have a 90% rating. That's why some huge chain stores on eBay can have literally THOUSANDS of negative reviews, but their rating is still 98-99%
marcjtdc i agree - the feedback system exists for a reason. If a seller has 99.5% feedback with over 14000 transactions, that's an ironclad legitimate 1st step. Step 2 is to observe & investigate all of the information provided in the listing. Ask specific questions if needed.
except I was right dude. When this video was made Pikmin 2 was $50 and Paper Mario was $20-$28. Now Paper Mario is around $35-$40 and Pikmin 2 is around $35.
not financially, gameplay wise man gameplay wise. And damn you replied like you were waiting for a response i'm dead ass still watching the video and this shit is hilarious
Damn dude, you really took offence to me telling you off huh? Your telling me to get a life yet you are literally stalking my comments and replying to comments that I have replied to for attention. It's pretty sad.
LOL now i've got nothing to do with this^, but me personally after i finished watching the video didn't really think it was much of a scam, lol i've scammed shit's funny af. Accidently getting a package, breaking the shit, and saying nope that shit got broken in the mail fuck that
Doesn't eBay's policy explicitly state to only communicate with sellers through their messaging system? I wouldn't talk to someone through text message because eBay doesn't have record of the conversation.
He 'does' kinda sound like him though, also reminds me of LGR a bit, but like the videos I have watched so far, so despite maybe being mean, I subbed as well. ;)
Update 2.0 - I got the Wii U back from Nintendo and its been fixed! Update. No idea if this is going to work. But I RMA'ed the Wii U system (ONLY) It doesn't seem to be a physical damage problem to the system, just seems like a bricked console because of a power outage during an update or something along those lines.
+TheDualWieldingGamer If there is a will there is a way. I'm sure you can but you would need to buy the $200 Component cable then get a component to HDMI converter.
I like how everyone that hates this vid seems to think he dosnt know how a scam works. he got most his money back. and he prevented the scammer from scamming more.
If anything the scammer will go harder. He just got caught by someone who knows what's up and STILL got paid over 100 bucks for a bunch of garbage. He still profited, otherwise he would have just asked for it to be returned to him and he'd try again.
There are still like 11 games there that seem to be working? He did't say anything about them at least so I would guess so. So he was saying he would still pay 100 for those. So if anything it went from scamming to being a actual sale
Dsparks First time I saw this video my brain broke, not my heart. I have a similar gamepad myself, albeit with a rather dirty screen and something akin to a dead pixel (in fact looking at it with said Wii U off is convincing me it IS a dead pixel). I'm not interested in selling it because I still USE it. It currently has a keyboard hooked up to it. No, I'm not on my Wii U right now.
A high positive feedback is not always good, as sellers sometimes contact the buyers after they issue a negative feedback, and issue them a refund in exchange for a positive feedback.
+Adamz678 Nah man. I think it's a DVD player. It's got a CD tray. Or maybe it's a modem with a CD Tray, a super fast modem. Or it's a sattelite dish receiver. We use it here in India to watch TV. I guess this one is an older edition of that.
+Please Ask Me If I Care. how's he supposed to know if he didn't want to see it without partially watching it? and commenting had nothing to fucking do with it
Why do you commenters not get it? The ebay seller sent a bunch of broken hardware (knowingly) and purposely insured it so that he could get the money back from it no matter what happened with ebay....because it's insured by the USPS. So, he gives the partial refund (after trying to send money straight through paypal so he could dispute it later).....and so, the seller keeps $100 from the auction that wasn't refunded and he also gets to keep the $300 insurance claim from the USPS....so he ended up keeping approximately $400 anyway, even though the shit was broken. So that's how he was trying to scam and that's why the youtuber is correct..... HAILMARY, don't let scammers get away with shit!!!
Because of the fact that it leaves him to do shady work like this again. Not everyone would take this in a positive way like this guy, how would you feel to wait weeks for an item to find out everything you ordered was broken? This just promotes bad business.
although that is true if you do it knowingly, this more is for dealing with getting scammed. which is nice to know if it ever happens and you were unaware. not the best thing but its at least a thing you can do.
SegaDisney If it is the black diamond Disney VHS they are now collector classics and they do fetch that price. There is a lot of 15 for sell for $249,999.99 on Etsy. Not saying they always sell for that, but that 10,000 asking mark I have seen sell at that price for one VHS.
+kickazfight actually mostly everytbing is covered by an ebay money garuntee, and if not paypal usually covers you as well some sellers even have returns themselves
Ive had something like this. I sold my PSP, it was working, I shipped it and 3 weeks later the guy came back to me saying he only just got it and the screen was white. Well, being I sent it 1st class signed for next day delivery, I knew that was a lie. So I played along with it, I said give me evidence it was not working. So he sent the most blurriest picture imaginable and said "look". I told him I need a better picture and that if he sends it back ,I will give him a fill refund. He said he will do that. Another 2 weeks go past, I look at my reviews, it says that I have 1 negative. I look, it is that guy who bought it, he said he sent it back, and that I refused to give him a refund. So I gave him bad review back, saying "Bad buyer, complained not working, offered refund, not returned as of yet" and my one got removed and I wasnt able to appeal my bad review because I breached his buyer rights. Fuck ebay
Ebay is bullshit! I had a similar experience. They also take way too much commission on sales... makes selling most things pointless as all your profit is taken.
Ebay protects buyers. I often buy on Ebay and I wouldn't dare buying anything if they didn't have the protection we currently have with them. I'm glad they are hard on sellers, I feel like it is much easier to scam people when you're a seller than when you're a buyer. Although I have to admit, Ebay might have tipped the scale a bit too much. On the other hand, i'm not a scammy person. I bought a used gfx card for 300$ and it didn't work at first, so I complained and the seller offered a 200$ refund plus I get to keep the card. Fortunately for him, I kept trying the gfx card and eventually got it to work just fine. I told him everything, that he didn't need to refund me anymore because his card was indeed working. I could have easily lied and kept the card for 200$ less..
+Jackson Whitlow it did but he says that he knew a lot about eBay. Says he knows a scammer when he sees one. However, he buys the items then gets angry when the items don't work or are broken.
+XxMusic Xx not arguing lmao I said it was stupid that he "knew" he was a scammer but got mad when the stuff he "knew" was broken, was actually broken 😊 .. read the whole point before you say something! 😊 but yeah I'm over replying !
+Shrigis Damn..you tried to give positive feedback and this happens to you. So much for trying to be helpful. If you said "get rekt kid" it would have been the same result. I see why people don't make the effort to help others more often!
eh, based on the divits shape, i think he probably dropped it on something, or visa versa. a punch would not have an edge to it. though it could have been tossed and caught a round edge on a table or something
I keep seeing stories from being scammed on ebay but for years now ive bought multiple things and i havent been scammed once. Weird. Anyway glad to see the scammer got a good ol' helping of karma.
I bought Diablo III for PC, and it didn't work the key has already been used. So i emailed the seller and asked him if i could get his whole battle.net account but said it would be unfair for him if he has other games. He accepted and changed the accounts email to my email. So this is how i got World Of Warcraft III Collectors Edition, StarCraft II Collectors Edition and Diablo III for 13 dollars.
Nice vid, to show people to wise-up to all the cons that happen more times than not.. I love pay-pal(for the safety facts) BUT like with so many things on line - People don't read the small print!! I always, keep records of anything I sell/buy and make sure everything is in order first!!
+David “Shakey” Stevens amazon handles the transaction they will refund you when they receive the item back you don't have to deal with the seller on amazon i returned crap with them so far amazon has always gave me my money back but i'm very also very careful buying stuff online
OK THATS IT!! Thank you so so much for helping me make up my mind! I'm going on Ebay right now to see if I can find and buy a new one! A new what? A new "LIFE" because after watching this video it has made me revaluate the one I have now and I realize how bad I need a new one!🙄
If he packaged it to 'not break', it is impossible for UPS to break the products. Henceforth, the items were broken when they were put in the box by the seller.
i sold a toy lot, and i noticed one had broken that i didnt notice. so before ishipped. i told him i was going to substitute another . the person said ok. well he got the package, then turned around and tried to say he didnt agree, he wantend a full refund. then he wanted half his money back. i said no you agreed. he was like have fun with your claim. now i hope i will win but as of now my funds from the sale are unavailible at this time... what a scum bag move. i know im going to lose because ebay always rules in buyers favor. sellers beware. dont sell on ebay. even if the person said ok to a substitution.
He's absolutely right, if you get ripped off/scammed and the seller is willing to issue a refund ONLY accept it via the ebay refund method/open a case and go through that route/method, never ever do outside the realms of ebay via a paypal transaction, soon as you venture outside of ebays standard refund terms/standard method of gaining a refund you're not eligible for any buyer protection, stick to their rules and their methods, as long and as drawn out as the process can be, you'll pretty much get what you require. Ebay have had some odd/dodgy loopholes and at times their methods can be frustrating but sometimes issues via ebay and paypal can sometimes swing in your favour.
then he wouldnt of minded ekschanging this info but he did lol plus he said email adress several times and not paypal info so theres another massive hole kid
Definitely was asking myself that very question as to why you didnt just give him your address so he could send you the money through paypal, but kudos to you for knowing the ins and outs of ebay/paypal/the mind of a scammer. With all that said, learned somethin new today.
This is why you don't buy used electronics unless it's from a reputable seller. You should of been able to tell by the guys feedback if he is a scammer or not. I been on ebay since it started and by using common sense I have never been ripped off. Ebay was the shit when it first started man everything was so cheap now most prices are higher than the stores smh not to menshion the %10 they take when you sell an item I remember when it was like 3%. You paid over $300 for this trash? wow looks like $50 worth of junk to me.
+leonardo gomez Never had a problem with Amazon purchases. The only time I had to contact the seller was because I realize I brought the wrong item which is rare.
I'm glad you explained it cause of two things. 1. I was curious why you were so worried about the partial refund. 2. Other comments raging and being butt hurt about you being butt hurt.
Correct me if Im wrong...But by reading the texts....he scammed UPS. He kept your money, then had ups pay him so he could pay you...then he also got extra money from you for the partial payment. Sounds to me he scammed you and UPS and he made bank doing so.
Yes, but he failed. I got a partial refund via current transaction which u can't charge back and I told USPS that he was committing fraud and gave them the RMA papers showing the system was bricked which cannot happen during shipping thus the system was shipped broken.

So you are a fucking tool, go the the police and don't be a little bitch
@@DumbArse this shouldnt even happen in the first place, you're probably a poverty lowlife who has to scam for a living to survive.
How do u find a broken GameCube? That's like the most hearty system I've ever had.
Me too 😢
GodofWar98 after owning my own video game store and probably seeing 200+ GameCubes come in and out of my store, I've only seen 2 that didn't work and they were fucked up looking.
I feel like you were the one who scammed him. you have been trying to prove him a liar a lot.

I dont buy from anyone unless they have 99.5% or more + feedback.
I have 98 :(
+MehdiBarka, if you don't sell a lot of items, one bad review can set you down 2%, 5% hell, even 10%.

Update 2.0 - I got the Wii U back from Nintendo and its been fixed!
Update. No idea if this is going to work. But I RMA'ed the Wii U system (ONLY)
It doesn't seem to be a physical damage problem to the system, just seems like a bricked console
because of a power outage during an update or something along those lines.

I love that he was smacking all the consoles like who's your daddy xD
anyone elses heart broke as soon as they saw the gamepad?
Dsparks Not really, but seriously, who mistreats their game system like that?
CrxRacer805 Nigerian prince scams
Dsparks First time I saw this video my brain broke, not my heart. I have a similar gamepad myself, albeit with a rather dirty screen and something akin to a dead pixel (in fact looking at it with said Wii U off is convincing me it IS a dead pixel). I'm not interested in selling it because I still USE it. It currently has a keyboard hooked up to it. No, I'm not on my Wii U right now.
best thing you can do is take the case apart and transfer the case to another pad
and always check for a high positive feedback
Especially when buying drugs from the deep web c:
+Logan Marsh lol
Yep, you shouldn't just buy from any seller
Also check the return policy.
A high positive feedback is not always good, as sellers sometimes contact the buyers after they issue a negative feedback, and issue them a refund in exchange for a positive feedback.

+Alix Gilpin There is a button to take videos off of you recommended list and an option to edit your comments
+Please Ask Me If I Care. Do you care?
+Brandon johnsen right!!?!
Because of the fact that it leaves him to do shady work like this again. Not everyone would take this in a positive way like this guy, how would you feel to wait weeks for an item to find out everything you ordered was broken? This just promotes bad business.

SegaDisney If it is the black diamond Disney VHS they are now collector classics and they do fetch that price. There is a lot of 15 for sell for $249,999.99 on Etsy. Not saying they always sell for that, but that 10,000 asking mark I have seen sell at that price for one VHS.
Yes there was an lie going around certain tapes were valuable
@Geronimo They aren't collector's items, they're common as fuck. People just like to mark-up the prices and claim that they're super rare.

"near-mint condition" *SLAMS THE LID*

I keep seeing stories from being scammed on ebay but for years now ive bought multiple things and i havent been scammed once. Weird. Anyway glad to see the scammer got a good ol' helping of karma.
I have only bought games and I ALWAYS check their feedback, I'm glad I have not been scammed
I've bought a PC w no OS, Windows 8.1, iPod 5th gen (using it right now), and a graphics card. All just as described

If he packaged it to 'not break', it is impossible for UPS to break the products. Henceforth, the items were broken when they were put in the box by the seller.

weab69 uhm okay but still amazon does havent much scams then eBay
i am nobody Scams? If you happen to do get scammed you can't contact eBay for a full refund.
Not necessarily better. I used to work for a business that sold on Amazon, trust me. Not broken but standards aren't higher
weab69 lol you're buying from the wrong people on Amazon bro
i sold a toy lot, and i noticed one had broken that i didnt notice. so before ishipped. i told him i was going to substitute another . the person said ok. well he got the package, then turned around and tried to say he didnt agree, he wantend a full refund. then he wanted half his money back. i said no you agreed. he was like have fun with your claim. now i hope i will win but as of now my funds from the sale are unavailible at this time... what a scum bag move. i know im going to lose because ebay always rules in buyers favor. sellers beware. dont sell on ebay. even if the person said ok to a substitution.
+k lang what happened next?
If this conversation happened in written form, not verbal. You can submit it to eBay or Paypal showing that he agreed to the substitute.
PayPal stole money from my business too.
wat happened
Do you have proof of his agreement?
The cough before he said the price is priceless
Why the dislikes?
this is pretty disgusting, and online shopping is fairly necessary these days.

I was thinking the same fucking thing lmfao
I was thinking more like Jwittz. :P
yo yo yo
Lol
Sent you a TEXT? That's a big nope.
Why
+HalfIronMan two words contact information
maybe he has it set up so eBay messages come through as texts
then he wouldnt of minded ekschanging this info but he did lol plus he said email adress several times and not paypal info so theres another massive hole kid
+RazielTheLost retype your reply again. my eyes started bleeding from reading this.

Princess Neko you have no idea what you just said
Cary Will Kill Us oh I know ;)
Cary Will Kill Us "just said" five weeks ago
Definitely was asking myself that very question as to why you didnt just give him your address so he could send you the money through paypal, but kudos to you for knowing the ins and outs of ebay/paypal/the mind of a scammer. With all that said, learned somethin new today.
Can you stop smacking the systems?
Dylanosaurus ...think of the systems.. WONT SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE SYSTEMS!!!
That's because you don't know how much these are worth.
check out thrift school on youtube
i mean he has a point dont pay anyone on ebay that much unless you are 100% sure
+UltimateLocke because nobody plays gaytendo anymore
+chase zazzera You're the kind of person everybody hates
This is why I go on Amazon.
Amazon has EVEN MORE scammers ya stupid idiot.
+leonardo gomez Good.
+leonardo gomez shopped on amazon for over 4 years and NEVER have gotten scammed.
Amazon is pretty trustworthy. They even make their own products.
Keep the Gamecube. Buy one with a broken case, and swap the innards.
He needs to stop smacking that GameCube before it smacks him back
