I agree with the spirit of what you're saying but in reality I think it has more to do with the utterly customisable factor of a self-build build. Only you know what will best serve your needs and bcos you're doing it yourself you can build it to best suit your requirements.
The RV industry tries to cater to what is most popular (or what they think they can convince the client is best for them)

Wow. You have given me soooo many ideas. I have a 14 foot box truck I've had for 12 years that I was planning on building out. I've collected all the gear to build it out and just as I retired and was beginning to start work on it, the engine blew. I guess that's better than the engine blowing after the build though... Now I'm pivoting and considering going with a minivan for the better mileage and smaller footprint. Great video.

Such an inspiring build! Love how your brain works...my dad was a chemical engineer, and he brought that engineering brain to everything he did. Your approach to building out your van made me all nostalgic, thank you. 😊Very creative too. It has always seemed to me that many people with engineering type minds paint with their problem-solving. A joy to experience.
And now, onto something much less...um...aesthetic. I have been a big dog, dog mom all of my adult life, and many years ago found compostable bags for dog poo. They are available on Amazon, as are compostable bags for garbage of varying sizes. If I could, I would take out ad space on RUclips to get the word out to all of the Van and RV-Lifers out there using so much plastic.
All the best in your travels!

Thanks! My dad was an electrical engineer, so must have rubbed off some?
We use the compostable dog bags for our dog, but they are a very poor quality bag. Wish I could use them for my toilet system but they just aren't confidence building in their not failing.Trelino composting toilet provide them, but a friend who has that toilet said the compostable bags really don't contain smell. Hopefully they will improve in time?

      @JordanHunter333 7 месяцев назад

@@04_siennaminicamper-nu6vj Hey...good morning! (at least here in AZ). Yes, I definitely think it rubbed off, or perhaps, born in? 🤔 Anyway, regarding the bags. Yes, it is too true that they are thin and can be easy to tear/easy for odor to permeate. You didn't say, and I realize it's an obvious solution, have you doubled them? Still, maybe not enough, but worth a shot. I am ever hopeful regarding reducing plastics.

"We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before us..."
There are many folding bed designs. Most? Consist of four pieces that rise in the middle to create a duel facing couch. I chose a three piece bed because that would have left the back of the couch too short for me. I want head/neck support. By utilizing just three pieces the back is longer.

Really well thought out build. Saw you remarked about your power costs. I have dumped the gen pack for a wind turbine. Takes a little engineering to get it compact but for the energy it provides it was well worth the effort. And even when theres no wind or sun i can set it up and take a nice easy drive and charge the house batteries without the alternator. Or combine them for a fast charge. But as you know, thats not the best for expensive batteries.
Are you going to add a floor to your rear cover? Im in the process of doing that little job... you know exactly what that requires. But to have that added space enclosed is going to be a game changer. I was thinking about doing side tents but the space and weight made that seem a little much. Besides, not too stealthy if you have to spend a night in town. I opted for the town and country touring for the stow N go seating. Once those are removed the space under the floor is insanely large. Yours is the first Sienna ive seen done up. And did you ever do a nice job! Thats a lot of gear in such a tight package. You really did your planning. And I like the suspension upgrade. Good thinking.

It's the concept of swapping AWD suspension parts for FWD. If you really need to see what they look like please check my Instagram posts. The very early posts 8-2019. I have pictures there of the parts before the installation side by side with the old. There's also a few posts about the airlift airbags with pictures. The van as it is is perfect for one person. Yes it would be nice to be able to stand up, and have a little more interior room. For two people it's a little more crowded.
I'm waiting for the Sprintobago vans to come out with a good hybrid that gets much better gas mileage. At present, a short, medium roof is what I'd be looking at, though I would like 10' interior space to build out as a minimum.

Don't got those pc fans but they got similar fans that is bigger. Got one of those hart tool fan it's brushless, so efficient fan. Use any 20 volt lithium tool battery because of the mod or just made it work. The big hyper tough don't work without a capacitor for some reason. Comes on and off cycle.

Best I have seen yet! How long did this build take you? Are you interested in building for someone else?😊

Thank you, but not at present looking to do builds. I spent about nine months plugging away before I was ready for road tripping, but it was during Covid, so parts trickled in slowly and couldn't go anywhere until lock downs ended.

Awesome build. Where did you get those pouch pockets at 9:20? Brand? Also, what brand of diesel heater did you get? Is that the fuel tank that came with it?

Thank you. The pouch pockets my wife sewed up... Custom.😃
The diesel heater was from maxingpeedrods or some such on amazon. No that diesel tanks was an extra $50 and well worth it. I had two tanks and they both leaked-the caps don't seal well on the ones that come with the heaters.

Do you have the measurements of your bed/ couch I could not see much of it due to the bedding on top. I really enjoyed every minute. Of your build video

Yes it's about 73" long, back door is curved a little so longer at center shorter at sides. It's 47.5" wide.
If you want more bed detail I have a video on the bed in my channel.

Where he says they are. I could tell that and I was skipping thru that bit - not required imo but I guess it depends on the type of build you're planning and how much power you think you'll need (not saying you don't need a spare battery but all that wiring etc, just overcomplicates; I've seen way more simple builds that work fine)

Actually it's a PIA, as it's a counter top in my van, so everything has to get moved to open it.It's a constant shifting of stuff. I did this as it was originally a sink there.
