- Betty Comden and Adolph Green perform their Broadway hit "A Party With Comden and Green" in this 1979 TV adaptation. They are accompanied on piano by their longtime musical director, Paul Trueblood.
Two of the greatest talents ever to grace Broadway and Hollywood. They brought joy to audiences for over 60 years.
Anybody who wants to understand the inspiration behind some of the greatest songs in 20th Century Musical theatre needs to watch Betty and Adolph performing their incredible catalog. An added bonus are the numbers from ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY.
They have such great timing. Recently "Maestro" movie featured actors portraying Comden and Green singing "Carried Away". Betty and Adolph were a treasure that can still be enjoyed.
A re-staging of their classic 1959 off-Broadway success. Oh lord, this is so good.
Writers and performers! WOW!
words can't express how much I love this! thanks for posting
I can't love this more! thanks for posting!
I cannot love this video enough! Thanks for sharing! I had the cd for years and what a treat to see it "live"
32:15 - CAPITAL GAINS could not be more relevant today, what an awesome tune
I’m in heaven. I want to kiss each of them on the cheek and say Thank You!
That's that really funny actor in Peter O'Toole"s "My Favorite Year". He was a riot. Great casting.
+Jason Johns And Betty was great as Garbo in "Garbo Talks".
Hey. thats right! There were a string of Anne Bancroft films on the early 80's, where I think, she has done some of her best work. "84 Charing Cross Road", "Garbo Talks", " 'Night Mother" and more. Anyway, this particular video was very entertaining to watch last night.
Actually saw them perform this show in 1979... what a pleasure! Btw, it's nice to hear the line "Never did take you cross the lake in Central Park" in "Some Other Time": in the actual show, this is never sung, since it's the moment where Claire, Ozzy, Hildy and Chip get off the subway at Coney Island (as the conductor calls "Last stop").
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Amazing
