    Good work mate! So glad that was done before I bought my FJ. Would cost a lot to get that done! Great effort

    This is amazing. Excellent documenting. I know it's not easy doing all that yourself. 👏👏👍

      Thanks! Yeah it is a lot of work, but hopefully it makes the job a little easier for others.

    I too went with 4.56. and I have 34 inch tires. I'm happy. I couldn't tell but I hope you used a gasket when you installed the rear diff. I did not. And in less than 2 years the whole thing was leaking. I used Toyota sealant. But it failed. Took it to Toyota to find out why. They said a gasket is required. It's right there in the manual. By the way. Nitto makes a 34 and so does milestar. They fit just fine with the body mount chop. And on the spare rack too. It's just a little bigger than 33s but it makes a big difference. Good luck if you didn't use a gasket.

      yeah, I only used he FIPG. There wasn't a gasket there before, so go figure. So far so good. No leaks. Thanks for the heads up!

    What was the ball park price on the rear differential? Thanks

      I just looked and ECGS has the each front and rear differentials @$700 each. There may be some shipping charges and other fees, but you are definitely looking at well under $2K if you do the work yourself. The front is the worst one, but hopefully after watching this video you will not make the same mistakes that I made. Good luck!

    What are your thoughts on adding the Harrop E-locker to the front as part of the exchange from East Coast Gear? I'm pretty pleased with the stock A-Track but while you were swapping the things out it would seem like a nice upgrade.

      Sorry for the late response, didn't see you comment. If you have the funds it would be a nice addition. Also depends on where you wheel and if you have the need for it. I have found that A-track does a great job on just about any trail that I try to tackle, but more is better!

    Im assuming you didn't use the paper gasket just the RTV or did you use both?

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel  3 года назад +1

      I used only FIPG and no paper gasket. Here is the link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EDDTV0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    I have an 08 FJ and it calls for 80w90 gear oil. Did you FJ call for the 75w140?

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel  3 года назад +1

      75W140 is what they recommended for break-in period. I eventually replaced the oil with 75W90. There is a video on that too. Thanks!

    Hows the 4.56? Im planning to go that route....using 33 tires for now but might go 35 near future...

      4.56 gears has been great! You really notice the difference on the HWY, No more down shifting merely going on an over pass. If you drive under 70 it isn't too bad of a gas hit. Consistently got 14 mpg on my last trip to Colorado with a roof top tent and a loaded FJ. Can probably add 1-2 mpg with a light load. Can't comment too much about 4.56 and 35s. May be ok. Probably still better than stock ratio. Thanks!

    I have the same gearing in my FJ, j was wondering g as I have a bit of whiring if the sound was normal in the diff? On deceleration it humms down bit.

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel  3 года назад

      There was no difference in sound replacing the diff. If your diff is making sounds I would let who ever put your gears together know. You sure it isn't coming from your tires?

      I don't really remember, and they could have different prices now due to higher cost of everything. Go to their website and take a look.
