THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for your big hearts and generosity!
I volunteer as a dog walker in a county shelter that is nothing like this. We are jammed full (145 dogs right now). Our crates are stacked on top of each other. We have very few little dogs or puppies, like you do - they are the kinds of dogs everyone wants, and get snapped up. We have tons of big heavy pit mixes, most of whom are sweethearts, but they get passed over. These amazing dogs get out of their crates for walks 15 minutes in the morning and 15 in the afternoon - when there is a volunteer to walk them. The dogs suffer from "kennel stress". Imagine living in a prison where everyone is screaming (your shelter looks like a resort!) We have very little financial support, but are committed to being a no-kill shelter. We just do the best we can with what we have, and some selfless volunteers. Each dog is special, and we try to bring each of them a tiny bit of love. They didn't ask for the lives that were handed to them. PS my previous dog was a tripod, had cancer in her leg at age 2, lived to be over 14 years old, had no idea she was missing anything!
Being a shelter dog perfectly describes our Rosie. Weve had her for about 6 years now and she's the best beagle you'll ever know.
