I rescued a dog who had been put in a shelter following the death of his elderly owner! I am 77 this year, and I wanted an older dog, and when I heard Tobey’s story I made arrangements to meet him, and give him a good home for the rest of his life! Sleeping next to me now!

True story. I had an elderly couple come to look at my puppies...and I had already sent them photos. They had chosen one from the photos so I sent every photo possible , every angle, of this lovely pup. They adored her and she was the one. Imagine my sadness and their utter disappointment when she TOTALLY rejected them. She wouldn't even accept a pat ! I could see how heartbroken they were (the lady was a large lady and I could see she was blaming herself for maybe being too daunting for a tiny pup)...and then my shyest little puppy came through all the puppies , climbed into the man's lap and just looked at him and her. This darling little puppy had chosen her family. Even more amazing this little puppy then saved their existing very aged dog one night when the old dog slipped off the stairs and was hanging from the railings. The puppy barked and barked until they checked out why she was doing that and luckily their old dog was saved in time. They adore her xx
I lost my little one over a year ago and my heart was in shreds, she had been with me everyday, loving me, taking care of me especially when I wasn't well. She had never messed the house or done anything but love me. I decided to adopt a rescue and went onto a website that covered several shelters and saw a little yellow dog, lovely. She wasn't available but they suggested a little boy dog and initially I said no boys but I still went to see him, three months old. Love at first sight. In the same period I had seen a little street dog in Roumania and I couldn't get her out of my mind so I decided to adopt her also. She travelled four days in a dark van in a cage to get to the south of France where I took two trains and two cars to get her. Now they are both the loves of my present life, she is a gentle frightened soul who loves being loved and he is a little terror but he sleeps behind my knees under the covers and looks like a cartoon character. What nice people dogs are.

I will never forget the day when she selected us at the shelter. To all dog owners. I hope you're able to make that special bond with your K-9, because it's worth it. As I type this we're only hours away from putting down the most unselfish and unconditionally loving dog I have ever had. For 12+ years she has been dependable, loving, and protective when she needed to be. It never mattered what kind of walk or adventure we would go on, she always shows us love and affection. When you treat a dog like family, they always make you a part of their pack. If you're the kind of owner who only greets their dog at feeding time, or only acknowledges them when they're barking, you're just not doing it right. We will miss you dearly. Thank you for this video.
Just the BEST to see these precious loving dogs be loved back, except for the guy who kept moving away from that darling dog … missing out on all that love 🩷💜🧡💛🩵💝💚💙
I have my dog not from a shelter, but from neighbours who weren't able to care for him. So I had him a few days for seeing how it worked out. And after three days I decided I would keep him and so we met on the streets and his formers owners gave me some of his stuff. I left the dog with his previous owners to bring the stuff in and he started squeaking after me in a heart melting tone before I even changed the side of the street. From that point on I knew he too has made the decision to stay with me.
A little dog a family had for a short time always climbed up on me every time I visited. When they had to move and couldn't take her I was glad to get her. My constant companion for 14 years. I still miss my Macey Gray.
People are people and pets are pets, they are never ''dad, mom, sister, brother, grandparent'' nor any other words like those, that is just complete nonsense and very sick nonsense at that, they are completely different species and so it is never gonna be possible to call them something like that. There are sooo many other words to use so why not open a dictionary?
Our Aussie choose us. They had all the younger dogs in one large cage, there must have been 20 of them. They were all clamoring to the front of the cage but sitting in the back, quietly was a little black and white Aussie, just waiting. When all the other puppies and young dogs lost interest and wandered away, then he came up to the front and said hello to us. Very smart boy. Buster was adopted that day along with his BIG brother Boomer. Boomer was a 150lb. Great Dane that had been at the shelter for just over a year as no one wanted him because he was too big. Buster and Boomer. What a pair they turned out to be. They will forever be part of our family.
Reminds me of my late dog. Found her at an adoption center in '00. When I stood in front of her cage she went from barking and jumping to sitting, when I knelt down she laid down. My mother knew there was no other dog in there for us. We had her for 16 years, I miss her very much.
When I was finally ready for another dog, I walked into the room at the county shelter and I could hear this one dog barking from the other end of the room. His bark was much louder than all the others. It was like he was telling me..."Hey, I am down here. I am the one that you want!!!" My heart went crazy. He was a beautiful Sheltie. Unfortunately, he was not yet available for adoption. Luckily, my name was on the list. I had to work the day he was available so my mother went and got him. He jumped into her lap while waiting to sign the papers and pay the fee. She was so surprised. She told me later that no dog had never done that before. He won her heart in an instant. How we loved that dog.
Years ago, went to Border Collie rescue intending to get a pup, an older BC glommed onto me, he rested his chin on my shoulder on the long drive home, it was like he had always been our dog. There are mystical connections between dogs and people. We currently have the world's most loving/cute/smart 12 year old Morkie, also a rescue from a shelter.
After the last of my 15 year old collies died I cried and got up very lonely. I called my grandson and we went to the shelter, At 76 I wanted a sweet old dog who would follow me round and be grateful. Amid the mayhem one dog was standing stock still looking at me, so dignified and serious!! His eyes followed me all around, never moving a muscle. So I brought him into the waiting room and he fell at my feet asleep. That's how I got Toto...an English pointer/[pittie mix about 18 months old. He barks out the window at squirrels and dogs and people think, "Look that old lady has a huntin' dog!!" Never think God is finished giving you a challenge.
Two of the five dogs we had in the family over the years were shelter vets, unwanted or abandoned by prior owners. They were all loyal and affectionate, and magnificent. I think a pound dog appreciates a family more than we will ever know. Those wagging tails and soulful eyes tell us so. God bless.
This is one of the few videos I've ever seen in my life that had me with a constant ear to ear stupid smile glued to my face for eight minutes non-stop. Thank you for this. Having a dog will make you all kinds of happy
Been there, done that....she saw me, tried to dig under the kennel gate , on concrete! ran to me sniffed my shoes, backed up ,and took a flying leap into my arms at 5 months old. A 9 year journey had begun! I still miss her, even 3 years since she crossed over.
Had our first dog from 1994-2008 and our second from 2008-2023. Both are buried under our big tree in our back yard. We can never move now. Got dog #3 a month after losing dog #2 and I really think this dog knew how broken my heart was after having to put #2 to sleep. He stays by my side constantly and jumps for joy every time I come home (I'm a stay at home mom, so I'm never gone long, lol).
I wish I had taken video of our new dog at the shelter. She had been owned by a hoarder who had 25 pets in her trailer. She was 6 lbs and so skinny. She immediately lit up and was as loving as possible when we met her. She's been the kindest most appreciative being ever since. 5 years now, 12 lbs and 7 years old, loves peace, quiet and petting.
Rescues are always the best! I rescue abandoned & unwanted senior dogs for years now. Could never have imagined I would, Time after time, after I took a chance on my first one. Some I found wonderful, forever homes for. 3 I kept for me. 2 of them were too tall an order to find a good, safe home for. I guess God knew they were home when I rescued them. ;) Just had to say goodbye to my last, 6 mos ago.😥Never gets any easier. But knowing they had the best forever home I could give them, soothes my soul, over knowing what otherwise, would have been their fate. I look fwd to spending eternity w/each & every one of them, in God’s perfect & glorious heaven!✝🙌❤🐾 Be Blessed by her great love for you. Dogs are God’s daily reminders of His Great love for us. Dog is not spelled God backwards, for no reason. Nothing else graces this earth capable of His unconditional love.❤
I know what it's like. My buddy boy Zeus is now 14, but in September 2018, my fiancee and I met him at the rescue centre, where he'd been rescued from a life of abuse and being used as a bait dog for dog fighting. He hadn't really responded to the affection by the kennel staff. So when we heard about him, we said we'd foster him, to bring him out of his shell. But when he was brought out to us, he ran over to us, rolled onto his back wanting attention and couldn't stop kissing us. On seeing this the kennel staff burst into tears seeing him finally happy and feeling loved. My fiancee and I looked at other and I said "I guess he's chosen us!" So we put in the adoption paperwork in and 2 weeks later, he became the king of our humble home.
@@Derek_Keenan JFC….If you’ve got to ask that question, absolutely nothing I say can help you. You haven’t even REMOTELY been paying attention, and I thoroughly envy your naivety. Ignorance, truly is bliss. However, with all that said, I also refuse to believe someone can be that stupid, and in that much denial. So, much so, I’ll assume you’re being facetious, and thank you for the levity (something else we’re in desperate need of), and your mutual love/respect for animals.
As a child this adorable kitty came into our yard for a week. Our rescue dog was welcoming her in no problem. I continued to ask my mother if we could adopt her and she said the kitty has to belong to another family. We called around town and no one claimed her. That was the beginning of our 18+ years with her. She was one of our favorite cats. We loved all our animals but there’s always a few that are magical angels. 😊🙌🏼💕💫
the irony of your story reminds me of a pair of kittens that came into my life. different times of course, the first was my little brother up until a few years ago when he passed away. he was only 4 days old when we found him, Pumpkin (mom's friend's named him that), raised him by hand and he lived in this house his whole life until the day he passed away. he was a sweet boy but he was also a guard cat. scaring off people my grandparents don't want. Then while i was in north carolina, a baby kitten was left at the front door, a little bombay, my sister called her Little Orphan Annie, she was a sweet heart and absolutely playful, my sister kept her and as far as i know about her, she's living with her still. Animals are highly intelligent, sure they can't speak like humans can, yet they are capable of communicating in their own way, so treat all animals with respect, they were here before us and no doubt will be here long after us.
My mom found our first dog at the beach. We were babies and they took us for walks by the sea, a boxer followed always us so, one day, she decided to adopt her... She was the most adorable dog, she accompanied us for part of our childhood.
We have adopted several dogs. It’s they who adopted us. I can’t sleep without them! I was just discharged last weekend from the hospital and we (dogs, hubby and me) were thrilled at the reunion! In addition… the neighborhood cute little cat has adopted me.
This touches me so.. cause after losing my job this week, I had a severe panic attack while in bed. Both my dogs immediately rushed to me, licking my tears away and head nudging my hands to pet them. I’ve never calmed from a panic attack so quickly.. I gave them a big treat after I calmed down ❤❤❤❤
Buster was pacing in his kennel, wagging his tail like crazy and looked me right in the eye and chuff barked at me. Like GET IN HERE AND GET ME OUT OF THIS PLACE! So I did. 11 years ago.
I adopted a little Romanian rescue….4 years in the dog home and now 4 years with us. She doesn’t play with toys, rarely barks, is completely neutral towards humans and animals and occasionally wags her tail. But she’s entirely happy as long as some part of her is in contact with some part of me. At first I was disappointed in her lack of ‘personality’. But now I realise she is what she is and it’s a good job I’ve got her because I understand. 🙂
How lovely. That poor little dog has some happiness now. I rescued my Cairn terrier from a man who was going to sell her to a breeder. She was six months old and of show stock and had been stuck outside in a kennel in a yard where her owner was breeding rats and rabbits for sale. My mother and I walked into the house and she flew to my mother immediately. She knew that we had come for her and dogs that are rescued show their gratitude. I still have her, she's now ten and a half and the most wonderful little thing. One thing though, she never knew how to chase a ball or play and was completely hyper for months after I got her. Their previous life leaves a mark in their personality, but they teach us love. What is life without a dog?
If you're lucky enough to have a beautiful fur baby.... give them the love they deserve. An animal's love is unconditional and like no other. ❤❤ Absolutely love videos like this, thank you for sharing.
Back when I smoked I had gone to the gas station at 4am for another pack (I was walking, just to clarify). It was november in SC and it was snowing already which was unusual for the area. Otw back I heard something going through a neighbors trash so I stopped to see what it was, figuring a raccoon or possum. It was my Gingersnap, she was a stray pittie that was maybe 2 months old when I found her. I squatted down and made the usual noises you make to get a dogs attention. Most strays stay away from humans if they don't want to interact. Gingy ran right up to me and immediately started jumping and wanting pets. She picked me instead of running away. I tucked her into my coat, got home, and said to my (now ex) fiancee "Hey babe guess what I found otw back?" Her: "I swear to god if you found another cat to take care of..." Me:"Joke's on you, its not a cat lol." Cue the big reveal of an adorable baby pittie with a coat colored just like a gingersnap cookie. She was so happy and full of life. I miss her terribly everyday.
My rescue literally jumped out of the cage she was in at the shelter and right into my arms. Her way of saying “get me the h*** out of here!” I’ve had her five years now and the sweetest dog ever!
My dad used to jog when I was a kid. He had a multi colored Shepard follow him home one day. We ended up keeping him, named him Prince. He was a good boy. Now I’m in my 40’s & a friend of mine had an accidental litter of Shepards. I was there to help with the birth of them & with cleaning up 4 days a week. There was one girl, a solid black one, that could not seem to be away from me. Followed me everywhere! She choose me for sure, I couldn’t say no. So it’s been 2 years now and she still won’t leave my side! I love her so much! 🥰
It is certainly heartwarming the love and trust those pooches show, but it is heartbreaking, and a reflection on the callousness of their previous owners, if any, that they came to be in those straits in the first place.
These videos with my favorite protagonists bring me so much joy, I said before that for a moment I don't think about the suffering of the less fortunate!😅❤😊
My first dog saw my family and wiggled so hard she almost fell over. 7 years later it is time for her to go on to her new family (cancer). We will miss her so much!!
I’m reminded of something I once read…it’s always a tragedy when our pets leave us but a greater tragedy would be if they were never a part of our lives at all.

And when I see people mistreat their dogs.... it makes me soooo ANGRY!!!
@@paulaheckman9928 Did you know if you see a dog in a hot car it is legal to break the window to get the dog out? 🐕

Thank you for this video.
sorry for your loss ☹️
@@Derek_Keenan thank you.
My condolences
This really makes me happy 😊. Every animal deserves to be in a good home with a loving family
The puppy at 1:38 that’s what happened to me. My Pippypuppy sat in my lap and never left.
Especially domestic dogs and cats because they only exist because of humans so really we owe it to them.
Just the BEST to see these precious loving dogs be loved back, except for the guy who kept moving away from that darling dog … missing out on all that love 🩷💜🧡💛🩵💝💚💙
Dogs are angels on earth. 😍❤️🙏🏼❤️
Animals are more loyal than humans …. I just love all dogs . 👍❤️
I cry for all of these precious Angels. I wish I could Adopt all of them.
A little dog a family had for a short time always climbed up on me every time I visited. When they had to move and couldn't take her I was glad to get her. My constant companion for 14 years. I still miss my Macey Gray.
All these babies and their families deserved to be happy, loved and never ending kisses and hugs. Makes my heart sing.
Sixty year old biker here, wiping tears. Dogs are the best!
*The unconditional love of animals is truly heartwarming! A big thank you to all the rescuers for their incredible efforts! 🐾♥🐾*
The sweet wholesomeness helps fight the harshness of everyday life. 😊👍🏻
4:26, the dog pacing with dad with his baby in his mouth was cuteness overload ❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@Vero2yu my doggie-daughter Chelsea was pure precious love!
yep, these wonderful 4 legged creatures are family; plain and simple.
16. She did better than most.
Them unfortunate misfits wanted to be free from the shelter life when a visitor is present. Enough said!
@@hendrickyee522 Oh...just like human when they get out of prison?
Years ago, went to Border Collie rescue intending to get a pup, an older BC glommed onto me, he rested his chin on my shoulder on the long drive home, it was like he had always been our dog. There are mystical connections between dogs and people. We currently have the world's most loving/cute/smart 12 year old Morkie, also a rescue from a shelter.
They’re all so beautiful ❤❤❤ having a pet dog changes the entire dynamics of a family. Bringing everyone together with their cuteness
❤❤❤
Two of the five dogs we had in the family over the years were shelter vets, unwanted or abandoned by prior owners. They were all loyal and affectionate, and magnificent. I think a pound dog appreciates a family more than we will ever know. Those wagging tails and soulful eyes tell us so. God bless.
Sometimes, people lose houses and can't take dogs into apartments
I'm in love with this video. Thanks to all the people who adopted these precious babies
These videos bring tears to my eyes..always.
All dogs want love. Wish I could save them all
This is one of the few videos I've ever seen in my life that had me with a constant ear to ear stupid smile glued to my face for eight minutes non-stop. Thank you for this. Having a dog will make you all kinds of happy
All dogs are beautiful.
Their happiness is infectious :)
Met my husky at a shelter. He immediately jumped into my arms. It's been amazing having him. It really felt like he chose me.
I've had 7 dogs total in my life and the last 5 were all strays and/or rescues that chose ME!I... and I feel honored to have been chosen.
Been there, done that....she saw me, tried to dig under the kennel gate , on concrete! ran to me sniffed my shoes, backed up ,and took a flying leap into my arms at 5 months old. A 9 year journey had begun! I still miss her, even 3 years since she
crossed over.
I am sorry for your loss. It hurts, but I also know that they don't hurt at all! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
God bless each and every single one of these gorgeous innocent souls
I guess God knew they were home when I rescued them. ;)
Just had to say goodbye to my last, 6 mos ago.😥Never gets any easier. But knowing they had the best forever home I could give them, soothes my soul, over knowing what otherwise, would have been their fate.
I look fwd to spending eternity w/each & every one of them, in God’s perfect & glorious heaven!✝🙌❤🐾
Be Blessed by her great love for you.
❤❤❤❤
That is so awesome...❤ you!
That is so sweet! Thank you for sharing! Yes, he chose the two people to be part of his family!!! 😅😊❤❤❤❤ 🐕 🐶 🦮 🐕🦺 ❤❤❤ 😊
I love these videos....they're soul healing at a time when I think we all desperately need it. 4:40 was especially adorable.
What’s wrong with the time?
what's so special about right now that makes people need "soul healing" so much more?
@@Derek_Keenan JFC….If you’ve got to ask that question, absolutely nothing I say can help you. You haven’t even REMOTELY been paying attention, and I thoroughly envy your naivety. Ignorance, truly is bliss. However, with all that said, I also refuse to believe someone can be that stupid, and in that much denial. So, much so, I’ll assume you’re being facetious, and thank you for the levity (something else we’re in desperate need of), and your mutual love/respect for animals.
Having a dog as a friend is such a gift. They really love you for who you are. They are very special creatures. ❤
Love the hand holding!
I CRIED AND THOUGHT, HOW PITIFUL THAT HUMANS DO NOT LOVE AS THIS ANIMAL EXPRESSED SUCH LOVE AND NEED TO BE LOVE TO HIS OWNER. HOW LOVELY INDEED!
I agree. No need to shout.
I love both my rescues. So so so much. No words! 😢😂❤❤❤😊
The sincerity of the model was sooo genuine!!💜💜💜💜
A number of years ago - a puppy my late husband wanted chose me as his human. I felt truly blessed.
There’s nothin better! ❤🙏😀
my cat chose me...
My cats did too, but I don’t feel all flattered like a bigshot because they were stray and probably thought I look like a sucker.
They do choose you. They look at you and it’s done! 🥳❤️🙌🏼💕

Hi, Mrs. Edmonson,

So nice to see that these lucky dogs found the owners that they deserve to be with.
Perfect way to start my day! My heart is smiling right now ❤
So sweet to see the contact with this man. I love dogs so much. They are angels in the shape of Dogs
This touches me so.. cause after losing my job this week, I had a severe panic attack while in bed. Both my dogs immediately rushed to me, licking my tears away and head nudging my hands to pet them. I’ve never calmed from a panic attack so quickly..
I gave them a big treat after I calmed down ❤❤❤❤
Bon courage à vous !
Are you doing better now?
That was so enjoyable to watch, no matter what happens in your life you still get the unconditional love of your dog. What a great video.
Buster was pacing in his kennel, wagging his tail like crazy and looked me right in the eye and chuff barked at me. Like GET IN HERE AND GET ME OUT OF THIS PLACE! So I did. 11 years ago.
Mine choose me❤ She is just the sweetest!
We had 2 rescue boy and girl. Most loving and adorable lil babies ever.
Hello how are you doing today and how was your night
I swear dogs are just angels on earth.
All these dogs are so beautiful!
If you're lucky enough to have a beautiful fur baby.... give them the love they deserve. An animal's love is unconditional and like no other. ❤❤ Absolutely love videos like this, thank you for sharing.
they are angels with tails
The tail never lies
SO TRUE
I am so happy for these pups
You always leave me smiling. Thank you❣️
It's seeing how sweet and loving many humans are that makes me tear up.
What a wonderful compilation of what it is to have a dog in your life. I love this.
My springer spaniel chose me even before she left her mum.
It just made everything special when she came home.
She was devoted to say the least.
AMOUR AMOUR AMOUR FOR ALL OF YOU , MY ANGELS .

Over the years, all of our adopted family members have been a blessing to our family.
I always find it cute when cats and dogs put their paws out asking for pets. My cat does this ALL the time when I'm doing dishes 😂
All fur babies deserve a good loving home and lots of love and hugs and kisses.
Hello how are you doing today and how was your night
Why are dogs so cuddly and why do they love humans so much❤!
I am just in constant smiles every time I see these videos, I LOVE DOG EVEN THE NAUTY ONES - LOL.🥰
The way the dog is look at him with such love is so heart warming in the beginning! !!
We spotted our Boxer in the shelter. She locked eyes with us and five yrs later it's still pure bliss.
It is certainly heartwarming the love and trust those pooches show, but it is heartbreaking, and a reflection on the callousness of their previous owners, if any, that they came to be in those straits in the first place.
God bless all people who take this angels from shelters!🙏💙
A dogs love is unconditional. A dogs is like no other love.
The fur babies holding hands with their humans ❤ is just beautiful ❤️
People abandon pets for many reasons. Blessed are those who resque them
I love this video. I'm sitting here, a grown man, with tears in my eyes.
These videos with my favorite protagonists bring me so much joy, I said before that for a moment I don't think about the suffering of the less fortunate!😅❤😊
When a dog chooses you it feels so amazing. It gives you a more special bond. At least it was that way for me and my Gypsy.
My first dog saw my family and wiggled so hard she almost fell over. 7 years later it is time for her to go on to her new family (cancer). We will miss her so much!!
Thank you for giving that dog the best 7 years a dog could hope for.
I’m reminded of something I once read…it’s always a tragedy when our pets leave us but a greater tragedy would be if they were never a part of our lives at all.
It IS NOT GOODBYE. Just so long for a short while. Your doggie is in heaven, waiting for you. Please be right with the Lord and do not miss it.
Oh no did they crucify a dog too?
My condolences
So beautiful so special creatures so much love to give❤😊
