Several years ago, I was in the process of adopting an older dog who had been hit by a car and lost one of her back legs. The dog was sweet but seemed sad. On the day I was to take her home, the shelter called and said they gave her to a family. At first, I was a bit mad but they said the dog reacted happily when seeing them come in, especially the kids, and that it was, actually, their dog. They were told by a neighbor she had died after being hit by the car so they were mourning her (she was healed when I tried to adopt her so there was time between when they were told she died and then coming to look for another dog). They just happened to go to the shelter the day I was to get her so it was still a happy day. I told them to keep the money as a donation and, about a month later, my sister said a friend of hers took in a stray but their dog did not like her so they wanted to rehome her. She was with me for 15 years. 😊
I'm sorry but that neighbor lied to that family! Whoever they are they emotionally hurt a family! I'm not sure how young or old the kids are but to hear from a neighbor "Hey your dog got killed after being hit by a car" and to find your dog at a shelter missing a leg but alive and happy to see you again especially the kids after said neighbor basically lied to you and your family stating that your dog had died from being hit by a car. Either the dog ran off after being hit and someone else found her and took her to the shelter or the neighbor saw what happened, hated the dog, and took the dog to the shelter lying about her being a stray. That's pretty massed up. The only bright side is the dog's alive, a tri-pod ( a dog with three legs ) and back with her family.

My dog got on top of me in bed when I was sick because I was shivering. She was trying to warm me up. I thought she might be on to something to be so worried about me. So I went to the ER instead of going to sleep. It turned out that I had a massive sepsis infection and would have died if I went to sleep. I love my Sheltie Molly.
My dog Bear (he looked like one when he was a pup) never got up onto my bed until I started receiving chemo treatments which made me very sick . He took it upon himself to jump up & rest his chin on my legs and stayed there until I felt well enough to get up , usually after 3 or 4 hours . 100%. Ages ago when I was very young, my beloved dog Daisy was lost for two weeks. No internet back then! My parents did EVERYTHING possible to try to find her. My house was full of despair, just indescribable. Then, our local radio station, WKER, which would always broadcast lost and found pets, read out about a dog found a few towns over. My Pop Pop heard it and told us, and we went to the house, after having had our hearts broken over and over again with false alarms - and this time, it was her. Filthy and about 20 pounds lighter, she was so excited to see us, the poor baby vomited all over the carpet of the very nice family who had found her (my dad gave them some $$ in compensation, but they were so kind, they weren't upset at all). If it hadn't been for that family putting it out there that they'd found a dog, for the radio station announcing it, and for my Pop Pop hearing the announcement, we might not have found her. Good people, doing the right thing. Thank you, all good people out there. ❤

I'm very happy this family was reunited with their dog! Edit: Heres some info about microchips bc y'all are being really fucking annoying (I'm a registered vet tech so I know what I'm talking about) - It's not a GPS - You can choose what information you disclose to the microchip company - When a microchip scanner is used on your pet, the only thing that shows up is the registration number and the number of the microchip company - A random person is not able to get your personal info from your pet if they're microchipped - To obtain your contact info for a lost pet, for example, the vet clinic will contact the microchip company and the company will contact you and then you can consent or decline your info being shared - Microchips only work if you register the microchip and keep the information updated if your phone number or address change - Microchips are tiny and fit inside a 15-gauge needle - Pets are usually sedated for microchip insertion since it's often done at the same time as a spay/neuter - Pets don't require sedation for a microchip so if you're not doing any surgeries for your pet but still want them chipped you can do this and it doesn't hurt too much - I put one in a big dog and he didn't even notice - Pets don't know they're microchipped and can't feel it because it's way too small - The average cost I could find in the US and Canada is $25-$75 and most places I've been to in Canada have been $50 (including really cheap and more expensive clinics) - Microchipping doesn't mean that you shouldn't put an identification tag and rabies tag on your dog - Microchipping and up-to-date rabies tags are the best way to prove legal ownership over your pet

Sounds great! But maybe consider looking or supporting "kill shelters" Municipal shelters ("kill shelter") are obligated to accept all dogs and cats surrendered to them, while "no kill shelters" can say no when they are full. City shelters are not allowed to refuse any animal. The main reason behind euthanizing the animals is ensuring they have enough space for all the animals they take in. Unfortunately the animals that have been there the longest or have the most issues are killed. Right now, 1 out of 4 animals that walk into a city shelters will die due to over population. Because of the stigma these places receive, fewer and fewer people are willing to help them. People would rather go to other places to adopt pets, leaving kill-shelters overpopulated + more animals are euthanized. They are not evil, they are overwhelmed.
@@rebeccab2446 to add, if everyone _did_ buy from registered, reputable breeders, and researched breeds beforehand, there really wouldn't be strays or the need for shelters such as they are currently. any good breeder will take back a dog if the home is not a good fit. the dogs are checked in on, usually spayed or neutered before leaving, or are checked that they are once they're with the family, and chipped. I don't think there is anything wrong putting an animal down if they've been at a shelter over four years. mentally, physically, emotionally, that's half the animal's life in most cases and when there is no quality it's the humane thing to do.
@@rebeccab2446 Here in Germany, there are no "kill shelters" and no stray dogs. By law, nobody is allowed to kill a dog, without a very good reason. Abandoning a dog is seen as animal cruelty.
❤ God bless you.
Yes, I wonder how it happened that they never saw the dog but believed the neighbor that it was dead?!
Things worked out the way they’re supposed to.

@@DanielRumbacher This is a Border Collie, and while they are very smart, they also have tons of energy... if a door is left open, they are gonna go run and burn energy. She could've just been preoccupied with new sights and sounds, instinctively trying to herd things, looking for her people, etc, and went too far and got disoriented, or she could be too young to know her way home, or someone could have picked her up and driven her to another unfamiliar location, or even straight to the shelter. Does this look like a dog who was trying to escape a bad home? Does this look like a dog who doesn't love her people? Sure, they should've been more responsible owners and had her microchipped and/or collared & tagged, but I can relate to procrastinating on things like that, thinking nothing like this will ever happen (and it probably wouldn't have in the owners' care... this was a petsitter who left a door open). I work at a vet clinic and so many people decline chipping their pets even though it really doesn't cost that much. You never know if your pet will get lost. I'm very happy this family was reunited with their dog!
Edit: Heres some info about microchips bc y'all are being really fucking annoying (I'm a registered vet tech so I know what I'm talking about)
- It's not a GPS
- You can choose what information you disclose to the microchip company
- When a microchip scanner is used on your pet, the only thing that shows up is the registration number and the number of the microchip company
- A random person is not able to get your personal info from your pet if they're microchipped
- To obtain your contact info for a lost pet, for example, the vet clinic will contact the microchip company and the company will contact you and then you can consent or decline your info being shared
- Microchips only work if you register the microchip and keep the information updated if your phone number or address change
- Microchips are tiny and fit inside a 15-gauge needle
- Pets are usually sedated for microchip insertion since it's often done at the same time as a spay/neuter
- Pets don't require sedation for a microchip so if you're not doing any surgeries for your pet but still want them chipped you can do this and it doesn't hurt too much - I put one in a big dog and he didn't even notice
- Pets don't know they're microchipped and can't feel it because it's way too small
- The average cost I could find in the US and Canada is $25-$75 and most places I've been to in Canada have been $50 (including really cheap and more expensive clinics)
- Microchipping doesn't mean that you shouldn't put an identification tag and rabies tag on your dog
- Microchipping and up-to-date rabies tags are the best way to prove legal ownership over your pet
@@vlinder0108 I’m glad. A lot of ppl will book spays/neuters and then decline doing microchipping (which is usually done at the same time). So they choose to spend a good amount of money already with the neutering but then still try to cheap out on the little things. It was disappointing to see…

What I have seen is a ton of dogs and cats who could have been reunited with their families in a very short time have to go off to the shelter, where, if they find their dogs, they have to pay a big fine to retrieve them.

This had me bawling in happiness for them. All the other dogs excitedly barking I like to think was because they were excited for her that she found her humans. I wish they find theirs too
A collar and a microchip is a MUST. Glad it ended well.
Heart warming and emotional. What a lovely moment of realisation 🥺 It’s hard knowing all the other animals are waiting for their forever home. When we rescued our recent cat, seeing all the others especially the elderly ones, was upsetting. He was estimated to be around 1 year old but had been abandoned by his male owner in his mid 20’s when he moved away. He took his dog but left what was then a 6 month old kitten to fend for itself. He was covered in mud and dust with sore eyes. When we cleaned and brushed him, cleaned his eyes and fed him up the transformation was incredible. He’s a stunning creamy white short haired cat with green eyes, intelligent and has such a gentle nature. We called him Casper and we love him to bits 😻
That brings tears to my eyes. I love cats but also dogs and other animals. When we emigrated to America we took our cats with us. According to the airport, we were allowed to take them to Economy Class. Both were in 2 transport baskets. But the stewardes didn't allow that. She wanted to talk to the captain and I said well then talk to him, I don't care, I don't go anywhere without my cats.
She came back and, exceptionally, we were allowed into business class.
That was great and will never forget that.
I will never let my animals down!! That's family. Thank you for saving the little one !
@@NiniRockX That’s adorable ❤️ well done you 👏🏻 AND you got into business class! That’s one in the eye for that stewardess 😂 Our pets are our family members, only animal lovers truly appreciate that. Thank you for sharing that, it’s made my day ☺️
I cannot stop crying of happy tears. Thanks God she is back with her family.
My dog would do that every day when I came home.
100% Pure Love.
Oh the stress its caused us all waiting for Ashley to be able to get to her humans!! Its a lovely story though & I'm thrilled that she was found! 👏🇬🇧💕
@linm9598 My thoughts exactly, why did it take so long to get the key? That guy was in slow motion.
@@phammond8155omg he took forever!
If one of the employees could have escorted them and been nearby just in case it was the right dog, I was thinking the same thing about what took the person so long.
That dude was taking his sweet time, wasn't he?! 😠
I feel sorry for the other dogs, God bless them, I hope they all find loving homes, God protect them, blem them, help all animals, I love dog's
I was so happy to see the overwhelming joy by the dog that it made me cry. To see them reunited is just heart warming. Dogs are so loyal and wonderful! They make our lives better. Please don't beat them or chain them down in one spot.
I started to feel so sorry for all the other dogs in the shelter.
What a beautiful ending to what I’m sure was a very traumatic ordeal! So glad you found Ashley! It was quite obvious that all of you were overjoyed! YAY! ❤
Ashley had no microchip or collar, because she has bad owners.
(even with the microchip, if you don't have a collar with contact details then congrats, you're a terrible owner)
I'm very happy for this family to be reunited, ...but my heart breaks for all the other dogs still stuck in there.
Makes me wish that we had a lot more dog sanctuary places like The Asher House in Oregon. All of those precious babies in that shelter deserve love and a safe place to call home. ❤
Didn’t expect to cry this morning, seeing her paw at the window and whine like that
Man
Moments like this get the tears flowing. What a reunion!
I’m happy Ashley found her family again but I’m also heartbroken for all the other dogs that are desperate to be picked up and taken to a loving home too
I am crying…tears of joy! Beautiful story.❤❤❤❤❤
OH, GOODNESS GREAT WAY TO START THE MORNING😊😊😊😊THAT BABY SAID LET ME OUT NOW❤❤❤❤❤❤
made my day , chopping onions here 😢❤
@@lucky5853 I THINK SOME OF YOUR ONIONS MADE IT MY WAY🥰🥰🥰
Guy took his sweet time letting the dog out though...wth
@@paintedwarrior516 DIDN'T HE....I WAS LIKE CLEARLY YOU COULD SEE THAT BABY KNEW HIS MOM
My heart breaks for the other dogs in the shelter. They feel the energy of Ashley and her owners coming to claim her.
I'm happy you found your dog! I do feel sad for the ones left behind though....❤
So beautiful, I cried like a baby watching this and realizing all those other dogs who may be lost as well. I am very happy to see this dog reunited with family. Beautiful.
I hope that other dogs will soon get a forever home with owners who love them unconditionally.
If I were the owner, I would've been on my knees crying after finding my dog. So glad they were reunited.
dog owner is irresponsible to allow her dog become strays in the first place!!! she doesnt deserves that dog!
@@R0TB @R0TB Buddy, calm down... A) You've commented this on SO MANY other comments, leave everyone alone, B) Apparently you have the attention span of a goldfish, the video subtitles LITERALLY said that they were away from home and it was the DOGSITTER'S fault they left the door open, not the owner's -_-
I'm in tears I'm so happy for all of them 🥲 🥰!!
I think these videos get me to cry every time due to the sheer innocence of animals and even more so dogs. When I see them get emotional or cry it's all over...
Pretty much confirms for any doubters that dogs have memory and feelings. That's some joy there.
why would anyone ever doubt they do? Only a simpleton would.
I think this reaction by Ashley to her Mom and Dad shows that our pets are part of the family, not just dogs or cats ....etc, with no feelings.
I have two cats and they mean the world to me! And by the way they want to be near me all the time, get petted, belly scratched, lying beside me just to be near, makes me feel like that love is returned💝
I am so happy they found their little girl! 240 miles is a long ways away!
🦂💘🐶🐶🐱🐱
That reunion was so pure and beautiful, definitely in tears especially seeing all the other dogs all with excitement.
Wishing they too have homes to look forward to😢🥰🤍
Sad to see dogs in shelters. But glad to see a reunited dog with family. Bless 🙏 you all
This happened to my husband's childhood dog. They had lost her through a broken part of the gate and frantically searched for her for months before they lost hope. Then, one day, out of the blue, while they were at Disneyland, they got a call from someone who had found their dog, and they immediately left to pick her up. It was the happiest day after all!
THE BEST! I am getting a rescue dog next month, and am so excited to give a sweet dog a loving home. No puppies for me... I love a dog with character already built in, and who is searching for a forever-home with a couple who just got a new, tiny house with a BIG yard! Thank you to ALL shelters who take care of the lost or abandoned dogs and cats everywhere.
No kill shelters. No puppy mills. Just, ADOPT! 💖🐾
Sounds great! But maybe consider looking or supporting "kill shelters"
Municipal shelters ("kill shelter") are obligated to accept all dogs and cats surrendered to them, while "no kill shelters" can say no when they are full.
Rescue- the best breed ever.
🐾♥️🐾

There is a high fine for that. If that dog suffered badly, while being abandoned, the owner may face up to 3 years in jail.
That being said.. My "English Pointer" is a former stray from Greece, that ended up in a killing shelter. It was rescued by an animal welfare organisation and brought to me -
7 years ago and still counting..
You know Ashley was beyond relieved to see both of them. She got up in her mommy's arms💞🙏🥰! So happy for them!💖
Congratulations. Everyone can see that all dogs want to go out with their owners. Please take dogs from the shelter and give them home.
