Rest in peace...John Prine. On par with Dylan, Lennon, and Willie...you sir...are one of the grestest lyricists, of all time. You will be sorely missed.
We lost Davie in the Korean War and I still don't know what for. Don't matter anymore. Some of the saddest lyrics I ever heard thank you dear John for making my heart and soul much bigger and better
Wow, my husband just introduced me to your music, and I am SO deeply sad that we've lost you, but the Angels in Heaven have gained another beautiful voice in their choir. Thank you for what you have given us. RIP my dearest New friend.
John's honesty & kindness ring so clear & true even from an early age through the simplicity of his lyrics & fine stringmastery. Last month, Mother-Earth took back & covered-up a very kind and gentle man... Thank you, John.
I am getting to know John Prines' music and I love it. I think he was from the Chicago area. When he talked about Chain of Sorrow it brings me back to the many peopled who were hit and killed by communter trains. You turn your back and it can happen so quickly. I love how he tells stories before he sings.
I work with the elderly and “Hello in There” hits me so much harder seeing it in real life every day. Remind the elders in your life you love them, they have value, and most of them have so many stories to tell that they’re just bursting at the seams to share with an open ear, and you can learn so much.
I knew of you in my years, but never really listened. To you Sir: I appreciate your music and do hope that in the part of Heaven that is reserved for you you will receive any and all folks thoughts as to your music!!! May eternity be good to you. You made a big impression in this here and was as it was and is.
When I listen to John Prine I see a picture of Mark Twain, Will Rogers and Woody Guthrie all sitting at the diner drinking coffee and cracking each other up. Rest easy and thank you for everything John.
Loved your music, I just heard it for the first time, and it was amazing. I now know what my capo is for. Never really used it until I watched, "Summers end, and all the best," I thank you and all you loved, for having it on RUclips and playing those wonderful songs. GOD Bless...
Thank you for posting this.. I remember seeing him do it live on this show and always loved it for it's rare he did Bottomless Lake. a GREAT song. I teach most of John's songs and was lucky enough to meet him a few times over the years. Miss him greatly and his genuine soul. And Bruised Orange!! Tremendous
Awesome! RIP John! We miss you Sir. It surprises me all the time that even folks who were supposed to be your fans didn't understand you. Experienced this many times seeing you live myself. Miss you man! Hope you're jamming in heaven, with Steve and some others.
I never knew you till close to the time you had to leave. I don't believe in the hereafter except now here you are in the hereafter, and I do believe in you. I'm 100% sure you did this world a whole lot of good while you were alive. I think your records and tapes will carry on that work for a good long time. I know you're not reading this. That's life. Someone else may read my words, however, and concur. I would like that.
I first heard about him at my favorite restaurant on earth, a breakfast place with 14 stools and no tables. I always trusted their advice after that, he was so good!
a national treasure of americana needed more than ever , We are blessed to have such historic and wonderful music . Lost John to the trump/ghina corona wang go tango
So much has already been said about John. When I watch old video I also wonder about the rest of the band ,where are they now , the girl on bass with the beautiful harmony , I don't know anything about them, though I've watched this dozens of times..
The girl on the bass and singing harmony is Rachel Peer. For a few years she was married to John and so was credited on album notes as Rachel Peer-Prine. I'm pretty sure she did the original female vocal on the first recording of Unwed Fathers.
Rest In Peace, John! You will be sorely missed! Play a little louder so we can all hear you down here on Earth! Miss you so much already!
Maybe we can still hear him in our dreams - I hope
Miss you terribly, John. RIP.
I love

I fully agree with most of what you say but the simplicity of his lyric, that is a very rare gift that I and most people do not have
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever. RIP John

So thankful for the time we had him and his music. He will be greatly missed. His likes will not be seen again.
John Prine left his light shining bright on this earth. His music legacy should remain in the archives of human goodness.

Oh boy
I named my homemade wine grape Prine
Imasportsphile 111 Is this from acl . If not could you tell me where and when this vid. is from ? thnk you.
John did not get the attention he should have, in my opinion. Probably the way he wanted it.
My first thought was he got all that he wanted. He left his own legacy of music -- the best!

I've always known the 'Your Chain of Sorrow' song as 'Bruised Orange'. I guess John decided to change the title later ?
It was titled Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow.) Amazing song
Just for the record...the bottomless lakes are outside of Roswell.
Doper than dope
Rrare kind of man. Unique vocal player writer hmm.
It's just hard to watch...sorry. Love you, John.
A okay
Is this SNL
Put an add right in the middle of a song. Really irritating
