Nearly two years after this was produced, I finally got the nerve to watch it. It was too raw in the moment. Now, I can quietly weep, and appreciate John's deeply moving music in Brandi's amazing voice. I don't know how she got through it that day. But I'm glad she did. Blessed Be.

I was 19 years old when this beautiful song was released. The lyrics helped me to learn and practice empathy and compassion for those "old folks" I would encounter in my younger days. It was also one of the first songs I taught myself on my guitar. And now at 70 years old, I listen to Brandi's beautiful rendition and I realize that I have become that old man John was singing about. I'm sitting at my kitchen table, looking out my back window and thinking about the circles that turn in our lives. I loved John Prine and cried for several days when he passed. The world was a better place with John Prine in it but we will always have his words and we will always be able to feel his heart.

I am a 65-year old woman listening once again to this song. Over the years, since my youth, John taught us compassion for ourselves as we grow older. I haven’t gotten COVID yet but I have stayed home more except for visiting my senior neighbors who are lonely or in need of assistance. John taught me to say “Hello in there” on a regular basis to my senior neighbors. One is blind. One just had a stroke. I have auto-immune diseases. I sure miss seeing my son come to visit. Talked to him today by Facetime. It was his 34th birthday.💗

Brandi Carlile is as much underappreciated as John Prine was. I've been listening to John since the late 70's & Brandi since maybe 2008 when I first heard The Story and I had to stop and find out who she was! I'm always surprised that anytime I mention either of them anywhere, people don't seem to know their work. I was stunned to hear about John's death to Coronavirus. Brandy's is a moving tribute to him. Looking forward to seeing him one day in Paradise!

John was not under appreciated, he was under exposed. He was not swept up by the machine of capitalism and as a result, only those of us who search the world, turn rocks over, see what’s not in plain sight were blessed to hear his wise words and to witness his beautiful light, beaming boldly.

Been listening to John Prine for 17 years now. A friend introduced me to his music, then he passed away. I hear John Prine & it reminds me of my friend. I expose as many people as can to his music. He stirs my soul. My heart is broken now that he is gone. Like losing an old friend again. He will forever be on my playlist. RIP Alex Thankyou for the introduction. RIP John Prine. Thanks for making the world a better place through your music. 💖 "When I get to Heaven" is my all time favorite. If you haven't heard it, what are you waiting for? Go discover one of the best story tellers ever to hit the music scene. 💖

Stephen, one of my favorite clips from your show is your duet with John, what a thrill that must have been. I became a fan of John’s in 1978 when a friend turned me on to him and I was blown away by Sam Stone, Souveniers, Hello in There. I have
The biggest tribute to John Prine is that even though he lived here and he played the Ryman twice a year, it was the toughest ticket to get of all the shows in Nashville. The Ryman sold out in minutes and the audience ended up full of singers and songwriters waiting to see John.
Had the privilege to meet him several times. Sat across the aisle on several flights to and from Nashville. I can remember being in absolute awe but trying to hold it together, we talked about our kids, the Chicago Bears, one flight where we talked, he was with his sons, they were
flying home from seeing a Bears game. He remembered me from the times before whenever we bumped into each other. I loved him and will miss him greatly, he was an idol of mine. I don’t know how many times I saw him live, too many to count, but anytime he came around, I was going to go. There are very few artists who I do this for, when I hear they are releasing a record, I just pre-order it without ever hearing a note, don’t have to, I have never been disapointed.
Those two shows a year at the Ryman were among the highlights of my year, any year.
I was dying to talk to him about songwriting but we just spoke about everyday stuff. John just loved talking to people, he never got full of himself and still thought of himself as a humble mailman who got lucky.

It’s November 2024 and I’ve just seen this for the first time. Never knew of John Prine til I heard the news that he had Covid. Now I listen to his recordings almost non stop. Even attended a John Prine tribute band here in Ireland recently and was able to sing along to every song they played! What a lyricist he truly was!
I can safely say that through those awful days of Covid lockdowns, John Prine’s music helped keep me sane, and for that I’m eternally grateful!

Perfection. After I heard this for the first time I never, ever missed waving to any old person sitting on a porch, waiting on a sidewalk, standing alone somewhere and have continued that-2023-and will as long as I'm alive and can see and move my arm, hand and heart. John Prine moves hearts. Beautiful from Stephen and Brandi. Kudos to Evie-and then to Stephen for realizing Prine could help him marry the woman of his dreams. "Drop some wisdom on us"-yeah, Brandi, excellent truth telling. Thank you all. I still remember seeing him on the Horseshoe outside at USC in Cola, SC, ; went with a group of friends from our house and got separated-but my baby girl was just a few months old so we stayed under a large oak tree on a quilt and I nursed her as we listened to John Price. I could see him some from the vantage point on the small rise, away from the crowd. Perfection personified. Thank you so very much to all of you- and to the gift of John, I will always be more than grateful-which not something that occurs often--in this big old goofy world. Love and Light, Terri -Jenna Rose's Momma
