A fine voice, a fine guitarist, performing with an ocean of feeling. I haven’t heard John Pine’s magnificent song performed any better. Thank you, Ian Noe.
Honestly, I tend to agree with you. Especially after his last album, River Fools. I honestly can’t think up anyone else currently in the music world that is better. Better, mainly meaning, Real. Truly sincere. Ian is a hero to me for being so honest. And his songwriting/lyrical/poet ability can only be matched by a very few. (Isbell, McMurtry, Carll, Knight…) But Ian has even more early Dylan in him than they do. It’s awesome
I doubt it. The world wants what the world tells them to want. Only those with a tender heart who says the heck with the world can appreciate this. Just being realistic.
I've been a fan of John since 1970s and heard him in a concert in Chicago. Hello in there is possibly one of the most touching lyrics. Older I get, the lyrics become more meaningful to me. Nice rendition, Ian! RIP, John!
I cannot love this enough. I was sad that Ian was sick and did not make it to All The Best Festival…..we possibly could have seen those two sing this together. We’ve loved Ian’s music since the first time we heard him. So talented. Excellent songwriter.
The guitar playing does John Prine's proud - straightforward yet elegant, and above all patient, the way it needs to be with this song. The temptation is for this to keep getting faster, but Mr. Noe apparently has a metronome in his brain. And with a voice that feels like a cross between Prine and Steve Goodman, this guy's the entire package. I'm heading over to his page and see what other delights he might have buried there.
Have been playing out since I was about 9 years old and playing that song just as long in a band with my dad who showed that to me have never heard anybody cover it so awesome to hear somebody bring it back to life thanks
I love this Prine song the most. Excellent job. Always wanted to say tho, geomorphologically speaking, old rivers grow WIDER every day, not wilder. But that doesn't change my 💙.
One of my favorite new musicians performing one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite old musicians. I think John would have really enjoyed this.
Absolutely beautiful performance. When I hear this song, it gets me really emotional. Just listening to you play, I couldn't hold back the tears. Truly magical and another demonstration of the power of music. Thank you so much for this.
My man, John would be proud.. That was fantastic. Been listening and following you for awhile. One of my favourite artists. You sir are very talented. Amazing cover, Amazing… 40k views I’d say 20k are me for how many times i’ve watched this .. lol
Ian is quickly becoming my favourite lately. Been listening for a few years now, but lately he is even starting to knock Dylan off the rotations.. And that says a lot, as I listen to Bob a helluva lot. I mean, there is such a huge catalogue to access these days, so I find there is a Dylan album of any occasion. John Prine is another that is always on high rotation too, possibly 2nd to Bob. However, Ian is definitely up there, and some weeks he is the top spot. The new album sounds fantastic so far. Anyway, Ian did a remarkable rendition of this Prine song.. I think he captured it perfectly. In fact, I think John would have loved it too.
beautiful job by Ian.....does anyone know anything about this J200? it looks vintage but it's extremely clean and the case looks new......is it a reissue or vintage?
Bob Dylan can't even be compared to this young man he makes Dylan sound sick this young Man has a SURE ENOUGH GOD GIVEN TALENT like I've never heard before ever and he is( IAN NOE ) John Prine wish that he was that( TALENTED) and I know yall would have to AGREE WITH ME WHAT DO YALL THINK
i listened to john prine for 50 years
that may be the best cover i ever heard
Amen!!!
John P. would be proud to hear his song performed so well
Well ... cant do it better than that ... period
John Prine was 20 when he wrote this song it would be hard to find anyone in their early 20s to have such a caring and kind soul. Fantastic cover
so true
A fine voice, a fine guitarist, performing with an ocean of feeling. I haven’t heard John Pine’s magnificent song performed any better. Thank you, Ian Noe.
The most talented man in music …. Someday the world will know it too
I hear it
I believe it
Not the one but one of the most talented you can’t forget about Sturgill Simpson Tyler Childers Colter Wall Cord Lund Robert Henry and the band YOB
Honestly, I tend to agree with you. Especially after his last album, River Fools. I honestly can’t think up anyone else currently in the music world that is better. Better, mainly meaning, Real. (Isbell, McMurtry, Carll, Knight…) But Ian has even more early Dylan in him than they do. It’s awesome
I agree. Colter Wall was my hero for a while, he still is, but Ian Noe is the best out there right now
I doubt it. The world wants what the world tells them to want. Only those with a tender heart who says the heck with the world can appreciate this. Just being realistic.
That guitar sounds like she played a million songs, what a beauty!
One of the best covers of this soulful song. Ian's cadence and tempo are spot on.
I come back so often to listen to this song. It's just perfect.
I share the same feeling.
Best I've heard since John Prine himself
Ian has so much talent. I love this song. RIP John Prine.

Words from my own mouth. The guitar tone couldn’t have been more on point!
I cannot love this enough. I was sad that Ian was sick and did not make it to All The Best Festival…..we possibly could have seen those two sing this together. We’ve loved Ian’s music since the first time we heard him. So talented. Excellent songwriter.

He even looks like a young John Prine when he's singing this song.

Good version, you know I just started noticing people playing this. It was Prine's and my favorite.. That's a shiny guitar there
The sound is as if the ghost of John Prine is playing through Ian.
Shocked...
He always looks like he is ready to beat the shit out of someone when singing.
It’s scary how he sounds like John.
