Halford started losing his voice a couple times in this video, but he held it together. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to scream your lungs out night after night when they are on tour. Halford's vocals is what set Priest apart from other metal bands of the era. An amazing talent!
Halford is power and feeling at the same time, a lot of singers do not give the sensation of actually enjoying singing or do any vocal experimentation. He did it all, and is still doing it.

I recently had the pleasure of working selling Judas Priest merchandise at their concert in Pamplona Spain. The company I worked with allowed us to go in to see the concert in shifts and, more than with the idea of getting paid, I was going with the idea of fulfilling my dream since I was a child: Being able to have the opportunity to see my always favorite group; from that moment when my father made me listen to Freewheel Burning when I was barely 4 years old. I entered the stadium and it was inevitable not to burst into tears; They were them, those gods that I had dreamed of becoming for almost 20 years, there I was with my hair down, my Defenders of The Faith t-shirt, and a handkerchief in my hand. Singing, jumping and crying like I had never done before. I will be able to die peacefully knowing that I have lived what I thought would be impossible. From always and forever.... LONG LIVE THE GODS OF METAL!!!
In the mid-80’s I sang in a band that did quite a few Priest covers. As a 19 year old I could hit all the notes and screams but once I got into my late 20’s/early 30’s I lost my range. How Rob Halford could continue to sing like he does for decades is beyond comprehension.

To carve a road for us

We accelerate,
No time to hesitate
This load will detonate
Whoever would
Contend its right
Born to lead
At breakneck speed
With high octane
We´re spitting flames
Freewheel burning
On we catapult
We´re thrusting to the hilt
Unearthing every fault
Go headlong into any dare
We don´t accept defeat
We never will retreat
We blaze with scorching heat
Obliterations everywhere
Born to lead
At breakneck speed
With high octane
We´re spitting flames
Freewheel burning
Look before you leap
Has never been the way we keep
Our road is free
Charging to the top
And never give in never stops
The way to be
Hold on to the lead
With all your will and concede
You´ll find there´s life
With victory on high
Freewheel burning
