    Apparently there is the option to extend the battery time of FPV drones and install a GPS module with a Return-to-home function. I guess it's all dependent on your specific setup.
    Thanks for letting me know guys! 😁🙌🏽

      You can look at Joshua Bardwells channel, he has great setup guides for gps and betaflight. I would also reccomend replacing your lipo pack with lithium ion, because it has more flight time, but less current output.

      The return to home function on fpv doesn't land the drone though. It just returns to a point where you can take control again.

    A few things I want to point out. With TBS crossfire you can actually go way further than a DJI drone you just need to build the quad differently for it, you need a larger yet lightweight and thin frame, a 1W video transmitter and a different battery type. I just watched a video yesterday where someone got 55 min of flight time from a FPV drone he built. Also the long range models almost always come with a GPS module so you can do RTH on a switch and as your failsafe. and with the full manual that you were talking about is not completely true, FPV drones do have a self leveling mode which isn't as good as DJI of course but you can enable it and be free enough to scratch an itch or something. Also I didn't think this comparison was quite fair as this type of setting is not FPV's playground, you need more obstacles and dives to really get the full potential of an FPV drone. Not trying to be negative just standing up for my hobby a little, great video still 👍

    For the FPV drone I would’ve lowered the camera tilt to make it go a little slower. The only reason FPV looked worse was because it was going fast with slow music. The editing style definitely favored the DJI. It’s possible to get almost every shot a DJI can do (except top down) with an FPV drone and an experienced pilot

    Just a short remark regarding the "problems" you saw for the FPV. If you use the DJI FPV Combo instead of a self made version, it already comes with some additional safety features for beginners (like obstacle recognition "to a certain point", RTH, different camera modes (i.e. an image stabilizer and distortion correction, which partly corrects the tilt of the drone during he maneuvers, it has a Gimbal that can look up and down to a certain angle, allowing shots like you described looking down though not totally vertically). still there are no "Quickshot" options, so if you want to circle around an object you need to control that manually, which needs quiet some practice. The drone in normal mode runs only slightly faster than the "normal DJIs" but then has sport and manual mode which allow speeds up to I think 36/95 mph with less safety features active. One of the most valuable functions that stay active in these modes would be the "stop" button that more or less instantaneously stops the drone and makes it hover and the rth option. Still I do agree, each type of drone has its own advantages and if you have the choice it's always nice to be able to use the best equipment for the feeling you want to deliver. Good luck finding the Go Pro in spring!

    IMO, this comparison wasn't entirely accurate. Just because you can rip around an FPV drone at 100MPH, doesn't mean you should. You can produce cinema quality images from flying slow and controlled, just as you can with a DJI drone. Another option is shooting in slow-motion from the FPV drone. The only "difficult to produce" shots would be top-down, but the gopro COULD be strapped to the bottom of the quad; it's not an elegant solution, but would work. Obviously they are different tools for different jobs, but in the end, the FPV footage could have definitely been made to look more "cinematic" with a few piloting techniques not utilized in this comparison.

      @j.c.m5168 3 года назад

      There are things you can do with one that you can't do with the other. The stabilization on the dji is impossible to completely and consistently replicate on an FPV. Both are just different tools. That said, if I have a choice my whoop is goin out if I need low and slow shots that I would usually take with my Mavic 2 Pro. 😂🤘

    • @supermendi0078
      @supermendi0078 3 года назад

      @@j.c.m5168 I kinda have to disagree with this. It is possible to achieve such stabilization on an fpv drone, the problem is that DJI uses not only GPS and a barometer, but also a specific software to calculate the drone position with external cameras and ultrasonic sensors, which would be complicated to implement on a custom drone, but not impossible. As I said, It would take a lot of work, but it’s doable.

      @@supermendi0078 Disagree indeed. For practicality purposes if you want direct stabilization and the ability to maintain it the way a DJI drone will do you wouldn't do it with an FPV. Your argument is like saying that sure, you could put a Ferrari engine in a rabbit and make it faster than a ferrari, bit pragmatism would say you'd just start with a ferrari. The fact is these two types of drones are just two different tools. Simply put, it would be totally impractical.

    Since 2021, I have been an avid viewer of your videos, and I must say that your content and video editing skills are consistently superb. As you continue to create more videos, I hope that you'll consider filming at the Pedra Furada rock formation in Joaquim National Park, Brazil. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

    I fly both, and I also host an FPV interview channel where we talk about this kind of thing. Each has its own benefits, and for the most part they can be made to do the same thing, but one does them better.
    But I’m going to save this one and study it, because your choices in editing are soooooo good.

    The cinematic and the colours of this video simply blow my mind, well done bro! Personally, I think there are two kind of different toys, may one need to have enough space for both in a bagpack to get the complete sight when go out to shoot

  • @CharlesDouglas

    Nice video, for each their own for sure. I personally prefer FPV shots over the normal drone shots, But I am in the media business and shoot plenty of music videos, so I use the normal drones a lot more on a regular. FPV for fun mostly and certain shots while working. It`s a vibe. The good thing about drones is there are options like ice cream. I fly all brands, I fly the Yuneec tornado drones over the DJI because of restrictions, Enjoying the GH4 footage. I do use the Mavic often as well. Blessings 👊

    I also use reelsteady go, but it s not a must, you can just go with a camera that has stabilizer built in already like gopro 7 8 9 or insta360 who has 360 capabilities. It will make your edit a lot faster, reelsteady is good only if you sell your videos for professional use, if your are a youtuber go with the built in camera stabilization. Hope we will see you soon flying fpv, winter is not a good weather for fpv flying you will not feel the sticks so just practice in simulator until warmer days.
