- Theme Park Review was fortunate enough to be invited down to capture some of the early test runs of Fun Spot Orlando's GCI Wooden Roller Coaster "White Lightning!" Thanks Rob! I actually shot both left and right side views at the same time and was going to put them together in a split screen, but it really didn't work well. But I love the sideways POV shots where I just happened to capture the other coaster going as well! (That wasn't planned!)
I remember riding that Skycoaster back at MGM YEARS ago. The thing is massive. Absolutely insane. I'm glad it found a new home!
I like coasters in the raw. Especially Wooden Coasters! I love seeing their brand new wooden track and steel plates, its just so satisfying.

We'll post another video on Monday with more commentary and stuff! The white arch ride in the background is the 2nd tallest Skycoaster in the world at 250 feet! It used to be at MGM Grand Adventures in Las Vegas many years ago....

This is what I was told - The train is short because the ride is much more compact that what GCI normally does. To deliver a more thrilling ride given the track length and space to work with, they used a shorter train so that the ride could do more. With a shorter train, the ride can be more "snappy" and have quicker movements in a smaller space. With a longer train, the elements would have to be wider and more drawn out, and probably not as "quick." They will run two of these 6-car trains.
Yes, the supports are steel on White Lightning.

My new favorite wooden coaster, Boy is this f~a~s~t. Whoever had the idea to mount the camera for a side view 2:57 should be promoted. One of the greatest video shots {POV} that I have ever seen.

Yeah people, it is really that fast. I just came from Fun Spot and this was the second ride I went on. I literally screamed from the top of my lungs and I felt like I was gonna fall out during the twists and turns. Next time im going on the flying one 😂👌🏻

It is but its super fast
Took my daughter on this last week and she LOVED it. My son though.. liked it but hes only 6. Height requirement is either 46" or 48" I don't recall but it is on their website. Great coaster, nice park. You can get a season pass for the cost of a single day at the bigger parks *cough*Universal*cough* Worth it for those on a budget.

Also SeaWorld, which kills Universal and Disney in coasters.

I love wooden coasters
Hey TPR, really big fan of your coaster channel. Question, Do you think theme parks that have wooden coaster might make changes to their wood coasters format, like get new GCI coaster trains, tareing down the old wood coaster and rebuilding it and add new banks and other things? The reason why is PTC has have alot of wooden coasters and soon they might get too rough and shakey. I heard that the GCI cars are very comfertable, smooth, and fast.

rocco cleavenger you can buy an unlimited wristband and ride every ride as many times as you want for 35 dollars which is pretty cheap compared to disney

I've been watching so many of these awesome POV's today, and I started wondering, does this channel actually review theme parks?
For kids? Nice coaster for anyone, this thing looks like the best new coaster of 2013 IMO. Enoughy of the gimmicky stuff already, this is where it's at.
O m g. When was this built and that yellow inverted one as well? I was in Orlando in September but went to magical midway instead of Fun Spot. Defo woulda went if i knew them 2 wer there.

It's a GCI coaster, they're always ridiculously fast and twisty.
This is sped up, right? It looks like it's going double it's rated speed. Also at :56, the sign for Rip Curl is flashing very quickly.

Awesome - bigger is not always better. I much prefer tighter - quicker - more action. Rides like Millennium Force bore me because things happen too slowly.
