i like how the lorule counterparts are the opposite of link zelda and ganon. ravio is a coward lacking the courage to stay and fight for lorule. hilda is not wise because she thinks she can use yuga. yuga is not all powerful as he can't control ganon after he fuses with him
One theory is that the Lorule counterparts embody different parts of the triforce than their Hyrule ones. Ravio being wise enough to not get involved with Hilda and Yuga's scheme and find a hero to do the work for him. Hilda being power hungry and wanting to use the power of Hyrule's triforce for her own selfish reasons. Yuga being couragous enough to travel to a foreign realm and attempting to fuse and control a being of immense power to help his queen, even if it could mean the loss of his own consciousness.
Also, all three of them change and develop their counterparts attributes by the end of the game, paralleling the restoration of Lorule’s triforce. Ravio works up the courage to stand up to Hilda, Hilda sees the error of her ways, and Yuga gains control of Ganon’s power. Pretty awesome symbolism.
As if the games themselves weren't awesome already, there's always this subtle, unspoken symbolism, story-telling, and character development going on. I love it.
The intro for the original episode of this is still one of my favorites. "Hey Jirard, you excited for the new Zelda g-" "I BEAT IT." "... What?" "NINTENDURRRRRRR"
I think the rating system itself is not that good, considering that it really only applies to a really small percentage of gamers and it can lead to situations like this one, where a game that he absolutely loves doesn't get the best rating because of one stupid challenge.
The cucco challenge is the line I draw when attempting to complete a game. It’s just so crazy to expect anyone to sit through 15 minutes of mind numbing dodging
In my most recent playthrough of this game, I completed everything but the streetpass and cuckoo challenge. And I was fine with that because honestly, the 999+ second cuckoo challenge is wack.
"15 minutes in the eye of a chicken storm is something a man never forgets" hahaha. I've actually taken care of chickens and can confirm, that would be a nightmare
As a HUGE Zelda fan AND completionist myself, this game broke me with the Endless Cuccoo challenge! Still haunts me to this day that I never fully finished ALBW because of those damn chickens...

I even pushed myself to complete it, jumping straight into hardmode (Not my smartest idea, too be honest). This is very nostalgic. The A Link Between Worlds episode was my very first episode of The Completionist and I've been a fan since (and back then went back and watched all the other episodes). It has been a long time and a LOT of completed games, but I look forward to more of this great content in the future.
This game is my favorite game on the 3DS and favorite Zelda game! I have played through it dozens and dozens of time (which include normal playthroughs, speedruns, and more recently randomizers) and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed it every time. The only thing I have not done is the Endless Cuckoo mini game. I have never seriously grinded it out before because I know how freaking difficult it will Hearing Jirard confirm that nightmare with his time to complete being 13hrs is mind numbing to me. One day, when I get another working 3DS I may take on that challenge but I doubt it will be anytime soon. Even with this small flaw to truly complete the game, it is an experience that I hope others will take the time to enjoy!
This is the game that got me to buy a 3DS. My friend left his at my house, and after I tried out this game, I couldn’t get enough. I did everything (except the chicken challenge) that it had to offer.
I completed this game in about a month. Which I'm actually happy about. I like it when collectables are chellenging but not impossible. And the controls are so quick and smooth and the open ended gameplay makes it so much fun to revisit
Now that i watched your update video your videos appeared in my suggested box. This is my favorite zelda game and this was a great video and wouldn't have seen it if i had not watched the other video.
This is my favorite Zelda game that I’ve played. I prefer the top down view in this game as opposed to the 3d of majoras mask and other 3d zeldas. I’ve played the game twice, completing it in hero mode the second time. My favorite part about it is that I was able to complete most of it without any help from guides. I loved this game!
i've completed it a couple of weeks ago without collecting any maiamai. It's my first time completing zelda game. It has great dungeons, plot twitst and music
I remember buying that game for my baby brother because it seemed like a good kid game. I wound up watching him play it and then took it and beat it before giving it back to him. I had fun and I let my brother play Spectrobes instead. Something about dinosaurs fighting each other is very appealing no matter what age you are.
The reward for beating the Cucco challenge should've been Cucco Armor. Cucco themed armor where if your damaged 3 times consecutively then it summons a hoard of Cucco's to attack your enemies. It would've been silly, useful and it would've made sense as a prize for that challenge.
Did you know? when the game is running for a certain time, it automatically generate street pass opponent without you needing to get them from other people. Let the game run unpaused in a safe area (while you are sleeping, for example) and it will generate enough opponents for you to complete the street pass challenges. (that's how I managed to do it, btw).
My personal favorite zelda game mostly because of the story in it. Seeing hilda driven to such desperate lengths to try and save her kingdom was powerful for me. She may have betrayed you but she did what she had to do for her people, Definitely my favorite character in the zelda games. Would love to see lorule return one day in a future game.
Nice to see a game with that awkward 'could'nt complete it yet' status done for real. I remember it was a long term project for me to get enough streetpasses from leaving my 3DS in my car at work to complete those challenges and beat a certain Link from the past myself. Fun fact: all of the character models are tilted away from the screen at an angle.
I am glad I wasn’t the only one crushed by the cuckoo rush. No person should ever have to go through it. If I was ever held at gunpoint and my only chance of living was doing the 1000 seconds of that, I would pull the trigger myself.
for that 15 minute cucco challenge they should've rewarded you an item that lets you summon the cucco swarm to attack all enemys but at the cost of being unable to use other items or use wall merge.
I actually 100% completed this game (minus endless cucco run) blind and without dying when it came out. Pretty proud of that, since I've never done that with any other game. Personally, i never planned to do endless cucco run, and this video convinced me to keep it that way. Lol
I reckon you could ignore the final cucco prize as completion, since it doesn't actually change anything beyond a tiny aesthetic difference. With the 300 korok seeds, you get the item slots but the cucco minigame after the heart container is just rupees so it makes it like any other minigame that you can stop playing after getting all the prizes.
As someone who grew up with the SNES original, I honestly like Link Between Worlds more than Link to the Past, I felt like it improved and expanded upon a lot of the ideas presented in the SNES original, like being able to more naturally do the dungeons in any order and stuff like item usage being tied to a constantly recharging stamina meter, and I liked all the main dungeon items being permanent upgrades which made replays more about deciding which upgrade do I want first. I never knew about that ridiculous Cucco challenge though, I personally wouldn't consider that a full completion item, more of a bragging rights easter egg kind of thing.

It has been a long time and a LOT of completed games, but I look forward to more of this great content in the future.
19:51 He then precedes to have Nightmares where those Giant Cucco hunt him town and tear him limb from limb.
Am I the only one who thought the damn baseball minigame was harder than the chickens?
This is the game that got me to buy a 3DS. My friend left his at my house, and after I tried out this game, I couldn’t get enough. I did everything (except the chicken challenge) that it had to offer.
Hyrule at Peace is one of my favorite songs from a Nintendo game. Hands down. Love this game so much
Finished ridiculous chicken challenge.
Game: "I heard you liked chicken!" 😋
13 hours of cuccos!! I CANNOT even imagine. I bow to the completionist.
Love this game! Also always great when Jirard gets to do a game for the show he really likes.
At least the cocoo mini game has pretty dope music
This is my favorite Zelda game that I’ve played. I prefer the top down view in this game as opposed to the 3d of majoras mask and other 3d zeldas. I’ve played the game twice, completing it in hero mode the second time. My favorite part about it is that I was able to complete most of it without any help from guides. I loved this game!
Me: Link Between Worlds is the first game I’ve fully completed!
Jirard: ...the street pass medals and endless cucco mode...
Me: *F U C K*
Same, did everything except those
i've completed it a couple of weeks ago without collecting any maiamai. It's my first time completing zelda game. It has great dungeons, plot twitst and music
Wow! I just spent the past three days replaying through this game. Glad to see Jirard doing the same :D
Yo Jirard, you should complete FOSSIL FIGHTERS!!!
I remember buying that game for my baby brother because it seemed like a good kid game. I wound up watching him play it and then took it and beat it before giving it back to him. I had fun and I let my brother play Spectrobes instead. Something about dinosaurs fighting each other is very appealing no matter what age you are.
DUDE!!! I also played spectrodes too!!!
The reward for beating the Cucco challenge should've been Cucco Armor. Cucco themed armor where if your damaged 3 times consecutively then it summons a hoard of Cucco's to attack your enemies. It would've been silly, useful and it would've made sense as a prize for that challenge.
My man, that thumbnail art is top tier.
Props to the artist.
10:51 Who else heard the Cox n Crendor intro in their head after hearing the chicken?
YO! Me, Right here.
I loved Link Between Worlds. Absolutely amazing game. I have quite fond memories of beating it on Hero Mode with only 3 hearts.
Not even the original dev team could beat the chicken rush. Good job, Jirard.
I honestly didn't have a hard time with the Cuckoos. The baseball minigame, however... took more time than it should have taken any person
That chicken minigame was for all the Touhou fans out there
Dude is a pure gamer. I can't complete a game once....except for Mario 64...Let alone twice. Perseverance in human form.
Anyone know how to watch the early marketing video he mentions, where they’re out camping, and sitting around the camp fire talking about the game?
If I was ever held at gunpoint and my only chance of living was doing the 1000 seconds of that, I would pull the trigger myself.
for that 15 minute cucco challenge they should've rewarded you an item that lets you summon the cucco swarm to attack all enemys but at the cost of being unable to use other items or use wall merge.
you should have been able to fly anywhere on that cuckoo. Am I the only one who REALLY wants to full on fly with one of those things?
I actually 100% completed this game (minus endless cucco run) blind and without dying when it came out. Pretty proud of that, since I've never done that with any other game.
Personally, i never planned to do endless cucco run, and this video convinced me to keep it that way. Lol
And that minigame is the reason I am afraid of cuccos! Still have nightmares about it, trying to run away from the cuccos!
Man I LOVE this game, I’m so excited that this episode is out again! Excellent work on this one, glad you enjoyed it as much as the first time :D
Wow. He's almost halfway through..again.
Jirard is insane. Seriously insane. Talk about making a damn point.
I loved this game, but I do wish they would've also remade A Link To The Past with this engine. Considering all the assets are there.
I know im a bit late but i wasnt sure if you got the upgraded net for beating the treacherous tower a 3rd time.
"Let's do this again but better" i feel like that should be the motto of the completionist new game plus
