And that's the big difference to Windows XP, which makes those two systems incomparable: Windows XP was the last Windows OS to use the NT 5 Kernel. With Windows Vista, NT 6.0 was introduced. And even though Windows 7 is called Windows 7, it still uses the same Kernel. So does Windows 8.1 and even 10 (even though they renamed it some years ago) still uses NT 6. When Windows XP reached the End Of Life , it was visibly out of date. It became increasingly difficult to make software compatible for NT 5 and NT 6 at the same time. And not only that: With NT 6, the jump to 64 Bit was made, which made programs much more powerful. There was also a 64-bit version for XP, but nobody really wanted it, because it didn't work very well. You could also see it on the surface, since Windows Vista also introduced anti-aliasing, while with XP you can still see every pixel. So the jump from XP to 7 was massive. But what about 10? It's not really different. It's still a 64-bit system, has the same kernel, and looks pretty much the same. In my opinion, the support for Windows 7 ended way too early considering that the outdated XP was supported for 13 years, so over two years longer than originally planned. Windows 7, on the other hand, was shot down on time after 10 years. Microsoft is not interested in the fact that a good quarter of all PCs worldwide still run Windows 7, nor that it is actually still very modern. It's a punch in the face in my opinion. Windows 10 isn't that successful because it's good. It is so successful because there is no alternative. And that's actually really sad. By the way: In 2017 Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for newer hardware. You're able to install it and it works just fine, but you won't get any more updates, because Microsoft blocks it. To be clear: Windows 8.1 was less than four years old at the time. A system that was almost as good as new was shot down to keep the numbers of Windows 10 increasing.
6:59 Windows 7 start menu is the best Start Menu ever made. I've used a lot of Start Menus, menus in Linux, all the different versions in Windows, and ClassicShell menu which is an app that replaces the start menu in Windows. And hands down the one in Windows 7 is the best.

1:11 I'm a huge fan of Windows Vista, it's a very safe, solid, stable OS, and also the beautiest one i've ever seen. I think the only reason to many people disliked it was because they ran it in poor hardware, like machines with 512MB of RAM and/or not enoughtly good video cards, expecting it to run as fast as Windows XP on the same old computer, blaming the OS, forgetting that Vista does a lot more than XP, and due to this, it needs more resources to do its tasks.
@Steven Morris But having WHQL drivers was the key strength of Vista. Previous MS OS were unprofessional toys .. the much loved W7 was simply a polished version of Vista

They should just admit their mistake and return classic start menu completely. They still didn't accept reality, they are returning it very slowly because they want to mask their mistake. So happy you made this video. You included pretty much everything I think about Windows 10. After 5 years of usage, I still don't really like it, and it feels like it still has plenty of pediatric diseases and optimization problems, not even talking about those resource killer background tasks that Win10 is constantly runnig anyways. Windows 7 just felt so complete with a very well designed and user-friendly UI, that is consistent and logical. I've recently got an old netbook as a secondary device for my trips, which I installed Win7 Pro on. I was shocked how good Win7 actually was, it's a joy to use after years of only interacting with Win10. I'm planning on downgrading my 7-year-old PC as well, and merely keeping Win10 on my main notebook.
I use windows 10 LTSC 2019, and besides the inconsistency of apps it has no bloatware, doesn't ask you to use a microsoft account unless you literally click manually, is quite stable (first boot you see no tiles at all just the start menu with the essentials classic windows apps) and it only receives security updates. Also it asks me for a domain join, which on LTSC 2019 is basically an offline account but with a different name. (it is probably actually domain join if you are in an enterprise environment which is what this version of 10 was designed for) My PC has 32 GB of RAM and I found that windows 10 LTSC 2019 also uses less ram than windows 7 (surprising) I still use windows 7 on my 1st gen Core i5 laptop however with the ESU bypass. And no, office 2019 does not officially install on windows 7.
@@andremalerba5281 The biggest one is 2019 has a dark theme, but I think that's the only thing I noticed. I was just pointing out that office 2019 doesn't run on 7 and not that you couldn't just get 2016 instead.
I don't know how you see it, but I have a feeling which tells me that sooner or later older Windows versions, Adobe Flash and discontinued media like VHS tapes will return. For example many people wanted Vinyl Records to come back and in 2012 they returned to the market. So there's probably a bigger chance that all of these discontinued things will make a comeback.
I wouldn't stay on Windows 7 much longer, driver support for many companies is ending due to Microsoft not supporting the legacy OS. Browser support for Edge, Chrome, and Vivaldi ends next month and Nvidia ends support for Windows 7 and 8 in August. Overall the older an operating system gets, the more security vulnerabilities and loss of program support it gets. I really loved Windows 7 and didn't want to move but driver support and the fact Chrome and edge were losing support drew me in to upgrading early this year. I decided to dualboot Windows 7 but I still mainly stay on Windows 10.
Ubuntu 21.04 is great, I really like the lack of ads and force installed apps and the total control of your machine. Plus ubuntu also powers servers which means that the core is extremely stable
I dislike Gnome, and Ubuntu insisting on removing choice. They are basically turning into the Apple of Linux, the more updates I see the more they are restricting on customization and freedom to choose what options you want enabled or disabled. They are stripping user choice and and making every Ubuntu build basically the same. I would probably suggest trying other Linux distros because after switching to Arch I have never even looked at Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint, or any other Debian-based distribution.
I upgraded to Windows 10 three months ago, and when I say upgrade, I don't mean that I replaced Windows 7 with Windows 10 on my original rig, but I built a new computer and used Windows 10 on my new build. Windows 10 is good, but after five years of using Windows 7, I've gotta say that Windows 7 is perfectly fine (if you're okay with some features being locked behind Windows 10). Rubbed me the wrong way when people brought up my OS. Like, who cares, it's working. Some things I miss about 7, but Windows 10 was not a net negative move.

@Hihallo just for helping
Hello
Hello
@Awesome Sauce Gamer TV ok
"I have to say Windows 10 is finally maturing properly" And then they announced Windows 11...
At least 11 is going/trying to fix some of your complaints. 11 is removing live tiles, and Cortana is off by default, it's not even in the new setup. Internet Explorer is finally gone and Paint 3D is also not preinstalled anymore. Plus it's a lot more fluid and faster than Windows 10, with some improvements to tablet mode too like easier rotation.
Windows 11 will be worse spyware than 10 and will force all users to log in with MS accounts and must be run on hardware that has Trusted Platform Module 2.0... Your own computer will not be your property. Read the fine print. Windows 11 is a worse Trojan Horse than even Windows 10 was.
Windows 11 is still aids from what I've heard and seen.
@@forced4motorsports Ah yes, who knew you would sign into an app or os to use it.

@@choosewisely067 Yep.
Pheww thank you for saying this! I'm also a fan of Windows 7 and sure, there are some minor inconveniences like no colorful emoji support etc, but it is STILL the best windows OS I've tried yet. Windows 10 was horribly buggy and bloated, not to mention UGLY with those huge tabs and all, why the material style changes always veer toward more bulky and ugly, I don't understand!
Windows 7 has the best customization options and it's light and pretty!
Windows discussion + good editing + timestamps ( content creator respecting my time ) = " I Subscribed "
Kudos!
I can't count the times i got a "18+" pop up on windows 7 on school computers... teacher even thought i was searching those in purpose
grammar
you can turn it off.
@@rocraft173 its actually viruses, you had to install some good antivirus like Kaspersky Security Cloud Free or Bitdefender, Some people dont recommend Avast or AVG because they sell data and etc... such as spamming ads 24/7.
@@megakarlach2 no i dont have viruses i fixed them by reinstalling win 7 and there is programm that removes your viruses its not antivirus antivirus is fake A fake
@Pikachuber depends but however McAfee is feeling kinda bloat because its sometime spam ads or message about not activated (mostly the school pc i saw), instead of that, most people recommended Kaspersky Security Cloud, which few youtubers used it as alternative to avast (note you have to sign up to use it).
I use Linux for my laptop and Windows 7 on my desktop rig, perfect combo.
I don't use Linux because there's no Realtek HD Audio Manager QUARRY STONE CORRIDOR ARENA HANGAR SEWER PIPE BATHROOM CAVE STONE ROOM.
just use pulseaudio?
As someone who uses Windows XP on one of their main laptops, I agree. You do you. You can use whatever OS you want as long as you like it and you’ve made it secure. Keep on Windows 7-ing.
It's been 7 years since I used Windows 7 (2012-2019)
I use Windows 10 now
2010-Today
Windows 8.1 be like: why im forgotten
it is most windows i love it
@@medootito2006 i hate windows 8 (kind of) cause the start screen is literal weird poop and windows 7 looks better than it in my opinion

Microsoft actually now asks you to update to windows 10 in Windows 7 in a screen when you log in
Are you given an option to press No?
I'm using Windows 7 until now because I love it
I think Windows 11 is the mature version of Windows 10, as windows 11 still appears to be the same OS but is just restyled and rethinked.
Need a pretty new machine to run 11.
and bloated, adware and spyware filled, more resource consuming, and more annoying.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Windows 11 and if you're considering an upgrade at this point.
Im not upgrading i cant even upgrade anyway i have dell inspiron 570
11 is worse then 10
Windows 11 adds basically no advantages over Windows 10, it has a worse UI and removed some of Windows 10's features. i know that i, myself will not be upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
@@imjustthebesthihihi you still can download it my hardware is unsupported but I still managed to do it.
My asus computer is windows 11
But my hp computer is windows 10
I still use Windows 7, it's like a constant supply of nostalgia. Windows 10 just feels too modern and I'm only 18
Fr, the literal main reason why I use 7
i wish i could use 7 again but my brother refuses because it’s a downgrade
@@gamingwithengi i think your bro refuses you to downgrade your pc because he thinks that there are modern components in it.
Btw what are your specs? Mine is:
i7 2nd gen
240GB SSD
12GB RAM
NVIDIA GT 1030
My specs are Windows 7 compatible.
I have a Mac but soon I wil set up bootcamp bc I still have the original windows 7 iso
Modern means stupid for now.
you are spot on about all that you said bro same i love win7
You know there's a version of Windows 10 that which i think is a great alternative to WIndows 7 users, it's called Windows 10 LTSC. It's basically windows 10 but it doesn't come with all that bloatware (it doesn't have the windows store preinstalled) and third-party apps. It doesn't have live tiles as well, so that means:
- No shitty MS Store apps
-No Live Tiles (i still like them)
-Less RAM usage(?)
-More drive space
-No Feature/Quality updates shoved down your throat
-No Cortana
and the start menu looks similar to Windows 7 which i like.
btw you can actually get live tiles back to LTSC, but you have to get MS Store installed first in unofficial ways, then download any apps that support Live Tiles, and Pin it in Start Menu.
@@reecearcinas9837 Microsoft: we'll sell your data without your consent or approval!
Also don’t forget Windows 10 LTSC :) The good version of Windows 10

Yep. I use it on my main computer and I'm loving it. I installed it on an old Lenovo g570 and it works surprisingly well
It costs a lot
