  • Unlike streaming services, of course, records take up space. As your collection grows, you’ll need to find more spaces in your home to store your prized vinyl records. If your living space is relatively large, this could be as simple as up-sizing your storage cabinet. However, if space comes at a premium in your home, you might need to get increasingly creative in finding additional space each time you return from the record store with another stack of wax.
In this video, we explore some of the better st record storage solutions beyond the IKEA KALLAX to give you inspiration about how to store your record collection.

The real gems of record cabinetry are the 1960s/1970s Lane Furnishing Pull open record cabinets. Made of quality hardwoods and beautiful to look at. I have one of the nicest rare ones that I was lucky to come by.

Great job on the cabinet! The legs and paint job fit the style perfectly.

I am very happy with my Flipbin as I have on top of my ~1000 record collection as a New Arrivals bin, fits about 35 records and looks cool! 👍

Very good record storage solution are square (35x35x25) IKEA Eket shelves. When shelf is put on the back, the records fit in perfectly from the top and are slightly protruding, allowing easy browsing through your collection.

Aren't the backs of ikea cupboards just held with tiny little tack nails? Would it hold them records?

    • @MaciejSebastianKijowski
      @MaciejSebastianKijowski 6 месяцев назад +1

@@xyanide1986 Eket is assembled with plastic “bolts” and thin plywood on the back (in this case, the bottom), which makes it surprisingly durable and rigid.
It holds the records quite well. I added the IKEA leather handles on the sides to carry it around.

for what it's worth, Ikea also sells a sort of box with two foot stools which is pretty excellent. the top is a good coffee table and, when you take the footstools out, it's just the right size to be a good record box (12''x12''x36'')

I live in a small flat. I use Vinyl crates that I purchase from my local Record Store. To date I’ve 5 crates stored against a wall in my living area. Each crate holds between 50 or 60 albums so far I’ve filled four and a half crates. Mind I don’t buy everything, just Jazz, The Blues and Vintage Soul, good job really as I don’t have the space lo.

Does tv screen affect or damage vinyl records if they are shelved next to it or underneath it?

What’s the blue grey unit that you have? Nice to see a good colour!
That mid century one you updated looks great!!! Cheers, Rob

That was from Homebase if I recall. Like a KALLAX, but a cooler colour and with hairpin legs 👌🎶
Thanks! Yea, love the old retro units!

I've had the uo rack for years and the first records get a little squished on the edges, so i'd recommend it if you put a few records but keeping it full damages them :(

@@astra-rb6szBookcases. All my 2000 CDs are in bookcases and all in alphabetical order. I was lucky that my last job they were throwing away these items. I grabbed 9 of these all made from real wood so like I said I was lucky and they are beautiful (from 976-CREOLEMAN).

That was another vinyl storage disappointment. The truth is that there is no revolutionary storage and display solution. Just more videos of the same old stuff....

Not sure what country you live in, but I just bought a better homes and gardens shelf from Walmart and it is fantastic. I got the 2x3 and it is definitely made using cheap materials, but it holds a bunch of lps without bending. I put the unit sideways and it's doing well. No bend to the shelves and it gives me room to stack my 7 inch mini crates on top. I own almost 2000 records so I am going to have to order two more, but it's working for me. Switching from milk crates to this has opened up my space by miles!!

Both of you are dumb. Why don't you buy your own plywood and make room dividers? Easy money. And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!

i am looking for the large wooden display cases like they have in the record stores when you go to buy. Does anyone know what they are called or where to find them. I have a huge vinyl collection that I love flipping thru to look at the covers. Thanks for any assistance.
