What If Megalodon Still Existed?

  • Does Megalodon still exist? For over 10 million years, this toothy huge creature ruled the world’s waters. Just imagine, the largest Megalodon tooth ever found is almost 3 times larger than the teeth you’ll find in the great white sharks of today!
    Theories out there argue that these bad boys of the ocean are still around. But there’s no doubt they’re long gone and extinct. Despite blockbuster hit movies like 2018’s The Meg and conspiracy theories running rampant on the Internet, these prehistoric sea beasts no longer exist. Still don’t believe it? Just get ready for a big dose of scientific evidence!

    SUMMARY:
    - About 2.6 million years ago marked the beginning of the era known as the Pleistocene. At the beginning of this era, temperatures began to cool and glaciers started to form all over.
    - While there’s no doubt that the Megalodon definitely went extinct, it probably wasn’t because they couldn’t keep up with whales in the cooler temperatures.
    - Though the Megalodon were ferocious and scary, there were actually other flesh-hungry predators sharing the ocean that liked to eat a lot of the same things that these giant sharks did.
    - One of the Megalodon’s biggest competitors in the deep blue during the mid-Miocene era was the now extinct genus of sperm whale known as the Livyatan Melvillei.
    - By the end of the Miocene, the Carcharodon Hubbelli wasn’t afraid to go head-to-head with the mighty Megalodon when it came to hunting for prey.
    - As time moved forward into the Pliocene era, whales were starting to disappear. While there were about 60 different whale species in the previous Miocene age, only 40 remained by the time of the Pliocene.
    - At this time, the Megalodon had to put their game faces on and fight even harder against the great white sharks who were smaller and faster.
    - Today’s marine life would be a little different if the Megalodon was still around. For one thing, we may not have the massive whale species we’ve come to know, like the Blue Whale.
    - While today’s great white sharks aren’t even close to being as big as the Megalodon, they seem to be following in its fin-steps. The great white grows about 3 feet larger than its ancestors that swam alongside the Megalodon during the Pliocene.

      Thank u ,see most people always listen to scientist, BUT here's the thing like i don't fully believe scientist when they say all megalodons are extinct when scientist haven't fully explored the majority OF oceans out there which r deep. Scientist only had explore 6 % so how would they know there fully extinct, what I believe is some megalodons are extinct & some are still alive out there. Cuz we don't fully know what GOES on down there like so ,I fully believe more megalodons can probably still be alive out there & we wouldn't know about it

      Sciencetists are correct. Due to knowing Megladon survival aspects. They wouldn't just disappear into the deep undiscovered ocean. Scientists know this species' of shark are not adaptable to certain ocean climates so the possibility of them all fading into the deep undiscovered ocean is unlikely. However, they could have evolved into another species which live in the undiscovered part.

      @MrTomkat030 4 года назад +41

      Nope they’re obviously extinct, we would see the carnage left behind every day all day.
      A great white needs over 30,000 calories and that would only sustain it for maximum 1 1/2 to 2 days. You do the math for meg, it would need 100,000 or more. The eco system cannot support an apex predator such as the this any longer, this is why we have Great Whites.

    • @jozokrstanovic9040
      @jozokrstanovic9040 4 года назад +9

      @@MrTomkat030 Also what would they be hunting that deep?
      Whales even though they can dive deep and for long times are still mammals, and they still have to come to the surface to catch a breath.
      Wouldnt megalodon then still be closer to the surface to hunt?
      Also megalodon is believed to be gray/white like the great white shark.
      This is cause when they are under their prey they want to look darker to meld with the scenery, and when they are above they look bright and white to meld with the light that comes into the ocean

    Saying megalodon is still alive somewhere deep down in the ocean, is like saying Dinosaurs are still alive somewhere deep inside the Forrest, it's no rocket science to see why they went extinct, even their favourite preys also went extinct, which were whales, who like we all know, must go up everything, after deep diving to breathe oxygen!

      @@dkanna4551 bro megalodons are just like today's sharks, thet weren't deep divers, infact they weren't as smart as today's sharks, they couldn't adapt to new environments like today's sharks, so they didn't have the ability to migrate and change environment, besides why would the most fearsome and most dangerous shark hide deep down, and never show up even for once above the surface, as it barely had any competition or predators ? So I would always stay away from it.The megladon can grow upto 60 feet but where as I am only 6 feet I did have seen a great white shark which was more than 20 feet it at least had the weight to be 2 tons. But now i might not look that smart but maybe I might get that chance . So wish me luck in the future.

    • @frankhumbug

      Nevin Micheal, you're right about a great amount of ocean being unexplored, and therefore you could theorise anything about undiscovered things (spaceships, alternative dimensions, stargates, Atlantis... anything,) in the ocean. But a 60ft top top top apex predator would not hide, it doesn't have the brain capacity to be concerned about humans. It would just eat everything (probably.) I think we'd notice it. No one would go in the water, ever. They have been extinct for millions of years. Not a fact, but otherwise it's just silly talk right? Nothing wrong with creative thinking, but seriously folks......
