I have! I was snorkeling with my friends and I had seen some turtles, cool fish, and urchins. But then I saw a shadow and looked closer and saw there was a shark! I didn’t know which kind it was but I just enacted to get the hell out of there! I never told anyone though. Luckily my friends never told anyone either. (And later on I had found out that it was a bull shark which are really aggressive, and I’m lucky that it hadn’t seen me.)

If megalodon never went extinct, human history could really have changed drastically. Would the Viking Age have even happened? Would they have even tried sea exploration (and conquest) if those huge sharks still existed? That, by itself could have changed history immensely and that's only one thing. (That's assuming that the water temperature on their raiding routes was warmer.)
Also, would those huge sharks even care about eating people? We'd be like a snack or something. Hardly worth the bother. I think the problem would be that if megalodons were in the open sea competing for food, the smaller sharks (great whites, etc) would start hunting closer to shore more often than they do. Going to the beach would be a real adventure!

It's interesting, I think the megaladons appearance would be more a factor than it's actual threat. How many people would go in the water period with those small boats knowing that giant creature was there? The shark most likely wouldn't be interested in the boats at all.

*A lot of people still think that Megalodons are out there somewhere in the depths of the oceans, possibly the Mariana Trench as that's the deepest place on Earth. Because humans have only explored 5% of the world's oceans, and there's 95% of the oceans that are unexplored - as I don't think we have the right technology to handle the depths, temperature and pressure, but we could have, I'm not sure.* *And Megalodons were actually 70 - 90ft in length, although they're said to have been up to 59ft in length, but they were much bigger that that.*
*So yeah...95% of our oceans are unexplored, so there could be absolutely ANYTHING in the depths of the oceans like Megalodons for example. And that's why I still think there's Megalodons out there. And I've seen videos on RUclips of HUGE sharks caught on tape, and that's one of the reasons why I think Megalodons are still out there.*

Y'all saying only 5% of the ocean has been explored so the Megalodon could still be around... I highly doubt it. We've found microscopic creatures, but we cannot find a huge animal like the Megalodon? It also used to swim in shallow waters, making it "easier" to find. If they still existed, we'd be finding new teeth (not just really old ones). An animal with that size is really hard to come unnoticed. So it is most definitely extinct.

this is indeed true. there is a valley in which used to be Meg's hunting grounds. If the megalodon was forced to evolve, it would not only have to shrink to adapt to the smaller prey of today, and would look completely different.
