    Hey Rachel! OMG! You are a God sent. I love everything about your approach to becoming a bookkeeper. I watched your week 1-5 video experiences and I am hooked. I just finished a 6 week course for QBO, about to take the intermediate level in March 2021. I love how honest, through on the process of becoming a bookkeeper. You have a new subby here! You are an inspiration. Keep up the good work.🙂

    Hey Rachael! I’m new to bookkeeping myself, so these helpful algorithms on RUclips have you in my suggestions now. :) I’m glad because it’s nice to hear from another newbie getting started. It’s especially interesting to hear the perspective of someone who isn’t getting coached through a course. I agree that Quickbooks is super helpful for establishing a foundation in how to handle transactions and that you can find a ton of free information online on the subject of accounting. I will say that if you’re not part of a bookkeeping community with an experience bookkeeper or CPA who could remind you of the legal ramifications of your business, then you’ll want to be in touch with an attorney to ensure you’re not doing anything that could put you or your business at risk. I’m thinking things like disclaimers in the documents you're presenting to clients and using appropriate language in contracts. I wish you the best in your venture!

      I really really appreciate your comment! It's nice to hear from someone else new into the world of bookkeeping! I plan to make sure my business is insured and protected in the next several months once I can gain some new clients to make it cost effective! All the best, Rachael

    I absolutely LOVE your videos! I've been a bookkeeper for over 20 years, but I want to branch out on my own now and I'm so nervous about it. Your video really made sense to me and gave me so much encouragement. I'm working on my quickbooks certification now, I've been using quickbooks for 7 years, so I'm hoping the exam won't be too difficult. I did have one question, though, do you pay for each exam? Is there a cost involved in becoming a quickbooks proadvisor?

      I’m so happy my videos have made you feel more confident in yourself! No - there’s no cost whatsoever with being certified in QB! Which makes it great to do :)

      @@RealisticBookkeeping Wow! Thank you! I've been holding off because I thought it was super expensive, not sure why I had that in my head! Thank you for clearing that up for me. Now, I'm off to watch more of your videos! :)

    Random question: By chance, did your husband have his business back in 2020 and 2021 when you was doing his books?

  • @luxurytaxprep

    Just wondering, did you do journal entries or adjusting in your husbands bookkeeping? Or do you provide that for your current clients?

    • @RealisticBookkeeping

      His business isn't complicated enough to need that level of accounting, but I do provide that for current clients.

    Hun would you possibly show us a virtual business from first getting their books before putting them in quickbooks onwards

      I will definitely put that down for one of my next videos! I think that type of “hands on” tutorial would definitely be something a lot of people could benefit from. Thank you for your input!

    Okay, everyone is always talking about SETTING UP THE BUSINESS aspect of bookkeeping, but no one is actually talking about the actual BOOKKEEPING. The latter is the ONLY thing I'm concerned about, doing what's right for the client and not just myself. Where can I go to learn this?

    • @RealisticBookkeeping
      @RealisticBookkeeping  2 года назад

      John, I totally understand your frustration. I felt the same way, which is why I made this channel. In the beginning I was only dealing with the business set-up (because I didn't have any clients yet), but I've made videos more recently about what bookkeeping work actually looks like for me and more are coming! Hope that helps.
