    I don't understand how 2 musicians can get on stage without knowing it or prepping for it and play so good together that is just unbelievable ,better than the album or any concert you could ever put together.
    The way they traded lickes back and fourth looks like it's been practiced for years not like it was all on the fly absolutely insane both of them.

    Damn .There's a hell of an advantage being a lefty with strings up side down . Those bends are very intense . Eric Gales is unique and very gifted . It's very sad to see that most people can't view this guy's talent for what it is. I wish someone like Prince could've taken him under his wing some time ago . Eric's range on guitar is rarely matched . Long live Eric Gales .

The guy that was screaming, "Go Get Em", didn't have much to say after a couple of minutes into it. I cherish seeing Eric in that environment. That's when he's really locked in & at his best. Lang's playing has been the same since he came on the scene some 20 yrs ago (or however long its been). Plus, he's almost 40 w a Williamsburg special (i.e., full head of hair comb-over) -- thats why he never got better haha. He was so worried about his looks instead of nurturing more important things, like PLAYING GUITAR.
      Gales is a genuine gun slinger, period.

      Fist of all, Johnny Lang was never a guitar prodigy. He was a decent blues singer, w okay blues chops for his age, but was marketed as a pretty boy, pop "new blues" star. Take a few lessons, please, then after you've at least learned to tune, go pick up a real guitar (not a guitar shaped video game controller) plug into a real dimed out amp (XBox don't count) now play something, no really, play anything, post it, and then let us hear it, seriously, let us see you do it, so we (who can play) might critique and enlighten "your" fearless performance in front of a webcam let alone a club/auditorium/arena full of people.

    When you put two guitarists on a stage in front of a screaming crowd it's always gonna come down to head cutting. I have yet to see Eric Gales be outplayed (or for that matter matched)by just about every other guitarist out there. He's a force of nature. Setting all that aside, I really enjoyed this clip and like what Jonny is doing these days musically and vocally. These guys can really groove together.

  • @Movierebel3
    @Movierebel3 2 года назад

    Jonny Lang still up there emulating his idol, Albert Collins. EG is a technical and improvisational master. Of course, Albert Collins was all about dirty, grungy, and mean sounding blues -- and that's what Jonny does. Different idols gave them different styles. But I can't think of a single blues artist alive with Lang's vocal range. That's why everyone loves playing with him. Hell, even legends like Buddy Guy just turn him loose. He comes in and sets the stage on fire. You see Gales let out a cheer at 4:15 after Lang hits that vocal run.

    To everyone who doesn't like the guy yelling "go get 'em", watch a few vids of Randy "Macho Man" Savage, including some of the Slim Jim ads. Then come back and watch this again, imagining Randy in the front row. It's kind of fun, since he shuts up before the fireworks. Two great talents whipping up some true alchemy! As for who is better...WTF?? Both are fantastic (I've known how great Eric is for 20 years and Jonny has honed his chops considerably since the last time I heard him), but the fact is, this is a great example of the end result being far greater than the sum of the parts!

    We all knew during the 90's when Stevie Ray Vaughan left a huge gap in blues space, there were three young guns emerged to fill that gap. Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Jonny Lang. But behind that gap there was a force of nature lurking in the abyss to culminate and reach the top at the right time. And that force was Eric Gales!

      @Movierebel3 2 года назад

      Agree about EG. And Jonny continues to develop his vocal skills. He was already a legend at 16 years-old, but some of his runs now are insane. Buddy Guy has been a huge fan of Lang's vocals since he was a teenager, and loves touring with him. His vocal range is incredible, and he only seems to get better. As for Jonny's guitar style, his idol was Albert Collins -- which is why played the same type of Telecaster when he was young. That grungy, choppy and dirty style was what Albert was all about. That's Lang's hero.

    Yo real talk for those that think it's a competition it really ain't cuz a note is a note how ever you want to see it 💯(idek) anyone can play what Eric or Lang can play just in your own style no one is untouchable but then again there are people that play with more power and soul then others when you take your soul and infuse all types of genres like hip hop,rock classical,soul,neo soul,jazz, blues,smooth jazz, rock fusion,pop,reggae,country etc and you fine tune your self like a machine to jump from genre to genre then you become better but not untouchable so yea in Reality Eric is gonna kill all these artists cuz who you know play like Eric no one this ain't a competition it's logic 💯💯💯

      emmanuel rosillo fuckin word Bro. You're 100% right. Why does it matter who's "better"? One man's meat is another man's poison. I thought they were both fantastic. They weren't trying to one-up one-another. Just enjoying each others playing. That's what live music *is*.

    I'm a J. Lang fan, but Joe Bonamassa is the only other player I've seen at the same level (and most complimentary) as Eric G. It is a nice video though... thanks for posting.

      They are both great, and offered us an uncredibly good time of music. And they both loved what they played together, no contest , just 2 angels playing together. Thanks to them 😁

      People get emotional and pissed off about this shit. Gales is obviously the better guitarist. I dont compare greats, but Jonny Lang is not great. He is being marketed the same way as he was almost 20 yrs ago and his playing has not evolved. Hes great at playing traditional, but who ain't!

    For those saying "it's not a competition, it's just fun," WRONG ! It's both.
    Competition is fun. Lots of fun. It spurs you on to put things together that you would never come up with alone. We did this every Monday night at Pauly's hotel in Albany New York years ago and it's probably still going on today. Each challenger to the house band's lead player would trade licks and, by the audience response, would either sit down or take on the next challenger, with the house guy sitting it out 'til everybody else in line got a shot at you. Highly competitive, tons of fun.

      Tom Vardin sorry to disagree. This was not a competition, this was a Jonny Lang concert. And Jonny invited Eric to join , adding some more soul to his song. Jonny and Eric were obviously happy to play together, each of them in their own style. Both great artists.

    I honestly liked jonnys licks better right here (IMO). Don't get me wrong Eric is fucking incredible but I never really heard those licks from Jonny, while on the other hand I've heard those licks from Eric numerous times even though they're always mind blowing. It was a bad ass jam period from both guitarists and I could tell Eric brought Jonny out of his box. Thanks for sharing
