Johnny Lang is one of the most soulful blues guys out there. I met him briefly in Memphis back when he was first gaining popularity. I was volunteering at the Blues Awards show at the Orpheum Theater. My job was to coral a few presenters to be ready at stage side to walk out and present. I noticed JL kind of hanging back in the shadows. I walked up said hi and how much I liked his music etc. I probably scared the crap out of him as I'm 6'6". He was probably 16-17 yes old at the time, real quiet and a gentleman. Glad he's healthy and still making music!
Woow ! Eric Gales is a killer. Jonny who’s not the musician next door introduces him like « Are you ready to hear music from another level ? ». Thank you for this gem.
I've bragged Eric up to friends and family and told them that they HAVE to watch him play. They ask who I would compare him with. I say, no, you don't understand. You don't compare this guy with ANYONE. Mr. Gales is like no other. There's not enough frets on any guitar to slow this beast down! When I pick up my Strat and try and lay something down even remotely close to his style I end up looking and sounding like Steve Vai getting his soul ripped out and stomped on by The Karate Kid in the movie Crossroads! I love this man's skills. He also expresses himself so well, which adds to his performances tenfold. I'm so glad we've got people like him keeping the music REAL. Here's to many more years, Eric!
While the rest of the world shouts "Trump this, Islam that, black this, white that, left this, right that", I just watch stuff like this and salute the true music folk out there. We all know what it really is when we hear and feel deeznotes. MusicUnitesUs Salute!
I'm 56 years old. One Saturday morning, I'm in my dining room doing paper work. This is 16 17 years ago. My Daughter is in the living room listening to some Disney show. And I hear this amazing guitar? I got up and mosey in. Hey hon, what are you listening to? She was not hearing me.it was Jonny. Amen
Much love to both of these geniuses. Pretty sure every one of those dislikes were just drunk people missing the right button. It's cool, I've been there too.
This is a guitar. This is Eric. This is Eric on guitar. Any more questions? Maybe one. That cat rocks atomic energy. Wow. How come there are a few good guitarists named Eric? Eric Gales, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton...
His brother or half brother was Little Jimmy King (Manuel Gales) ............... check out his live version of this song on da tube RIP Manuel, we miss you greatly
Eric Gales got the opportunity to meet SRV. Eric was recording a demo for an album when he was 15. Eric asked for his autograph, then SRV replied, “the only way I’ll give you my autograph is if you give me yours first.” He let Eric try on his rings and hat on, then they both played Riviera Paradise on two acoustic guitars. Eric tells the story in a RUclips video.
What a great player AND the luckiest guy as a lefty!!!!!!!!!! The fact that he can go to any guitar shop and pick up a right handed guitar and just play ... I am a lefty and see hundreds of guitars hanging in a shop, and three lefties... Totally depressing...
And you want to hear something even more mind blowing? Eric's actually not left-handed. He's right handed, but as a kid, his older brother, who's a lefty, showed Eric some stuff (left handed) on guitar and Eric, being so young, just thought that THAT was how you hold and play the guitar. I know what you mean: I'm a lefty also. I've been playing custom Suhr guitars exclusively in over 20 years. :)
Wtf, .. you would like the audience to express feeling when playing, how is that annoying.. you should buy a ticket. Or maybe not because there might be other audience.
Jonny has in my opinion the best blues vocals of anyone out there now. And he’s been able to sing like that since age 16!

Eric Gales and his Strat should be the next Avenger. He’s a freakin super hero. Memphis Proud.
Not a Strat...
The bit starting at 9:10. I started laughing I liked it so much. That fuzz tone with Eric's phrasing and feel. Killer!
A few greats do that to me also. Musical Bliss!!
Much love to both of these geniuses. Pretty sure every one of those dislikes were just drunk people missing the right button. It's cool, I've been there too.

Eric is a BAD ASS! Great to see him with another bad ass…….
Jonny has a healthy ego! Letting Eric shine. Also lets his whole band play their hearts out.
I BELIEVE THAT HENDRIX WOULD HAVE ADMIRED GALES! HE IS G.O.A.T!
Hendrix is unique. Eric Gales is an awesome guitars linger but Jimi was from outer space. 🛸
I was there... Great show!
Eric Gales is fantastic
This is a guitar. This is Eric. This is Eric on guitar. Any more questions? Maybe one. That cat rocks atomic energy. Wow. How come there are a few good guitarists named Eric? Eric Gales, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton...

His brother or half brother was Little Jimmy King (Manuel Gales) ............... check out his live version of this song on da tube RIP Manuel, we miss you greatly
If you didnt have a smile on your face watching that..there is something wrong with you. That was insane Eric!
OMG Wish I'd been there.
Awesome, background noice from audience was distracting
that cat on the keys has the greatest stank face of the year!! looks like he's smelling something fonky
That’s all bc of EG’s solo 😂
That is a fantastic solo
"Building a Guitar Solo" should have been the name of this performance. Learn from it.
Please.someone change the title to " building a guitar solo...amazing"

great solo👍👍👍
Good stuff
Dude he's playing that upside down Hendrix style ..
dang
I've yet to hear a better blues player.
the keyboardp/piano/organ players face was my face the whole time.
Dope
He is playing the guitar upsidedown and backwards
He's probably playing it the right way and we're all doing it wrong.
@@joshhardin1347 I never thought about it that way
Just how he learned as a kid. He’s left handed but the only guitar available was right handed.
@@robertbartels3742 actually he is right handed! He writes and eats right handed..ge says that in many interviews
What a great player AND the luckiest guy as a lefty!!!!!!!!!!

Coco is the only other guitarist I’ve ever seen play a right handed strat upside down... amazing
Freddy king. Doyle bramhall.
@@user-gm5by6dj3d yeah but they weren't that good and fast and emotional as Eric is
How to build a guitar solo? Watch this from minute 7:50 and hear from bbking to eric johnson
Pleasee quickly! Chanche the name of the video to "How to build a blues guitar solo"
The people in the audience are annoying. Completely ruined this.
Wtf, .. you would like the audience to express feeling when playing, how is that annoying.. you should buy a ticket. Or maybe not because there might be other audience.
Wow we getting old now you in your 50 now
Jonny ain't no slouch but Eric put Prince and Hendrix to bed Lol
There are players, really good ones, that would sell their mother to play like that. He's not of this planet.
I would like to see Eric Gales jam with John Mayer...Now that would be EPIC!!
Éric fales in on another level... nobody can jam with him... no jazz musician can do it imagine a rock, blues or any kind of player...
It would be great. But john would miss the rock aspect
Epic embarasment for Mayer... lol...
6meanstrings I don't think you understand how good Mayer is
6meanstrings I don't think you understand how good Mayer is
I don't know what the fck that bass player was doing, thinking or playing. The drummer fell apart trying to showboat as well... No Not digging it.
ok
I dont feel anything listening to Eric. No balls in his playing.
Lol suckers
