Also love that they did not stick with typical blues notes and patterns with almost an Eastern or middle Eastern flair wow they were burning up the finger boards. Have to give major credit also to bass and drums. They kept it solid the whole time these guys left the Universe on their solos, but had that solid bottom so they had a foundation to come back too. The folks that were there were very fortunate indeed. I loved every second of this.

Eric was Eric 20 years before anyone knew Joe. He was the next big thing before drugs and some time in the big house stopped his trajectory. You can find early Eric in RUclips playing on the Arsenio Hall Show. Glad to see him making his way back to the top.

Finishing anything on a Hendrix riff is always going to be a success. Be it a job interview, a court statement, sex, an appendectomy or a guitar battle. This was no exception. Impressive!
Had to google that one Jonathan, however you're absolutely right, as soon as you hear and understand the scale, their ripping solos come through clearly! Deadset legends, the pair of them! Looking forward to a Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise one day!
And be on the stage with Joe? Be foreal😁 did you hear him say if not the best guitarist in the world? The best all say he's the best. And I only mean the guys who can play on this level not the wanna beeeeees 🐝
Describing Joe as a professor is perfect. Those who can do, do. Those that cant, teach. Joe is a very, very good guitar player. Technically, spot on. But he lacks what cant be taught. The soul and innovation of a truly great guitarist. Plus I can pay 1/2 or 1/3 of what it costs to see Joe and get to see Buddy Guy, Eric Gales, Gary Clark, Billy Strings or quite a few others.
If he were "literally" born at the crossroads he would have been born in the street where two or more roads intersect. Let's try some English next time.
Bloody hell, he drops in and wrecks Joe's set and Joe's is laughing about it! This is whats music is all about! 2 masters sharing their talents with the world! Plus i've never heard of Eric Gales before and he is bloody insane!!!!!! Amazing!
Mr. Gales was on the south stage a year ago and owned the stage!!!And testify not only with his Strat but also with his words of redemption and the worth of life. Truly a great man.
People that have never played guitar after hearing this: "Man, I need to learn how to play guitar!" People that have been playing guitar for years: "Man, I need to burn every guitar I have and never look back." Me, I'm lighting the bonfire and watching this again
Had something to do with camera/mic being on the Stratocaster side of the stage. Additionally, it’s JB’s show he has his quad-amp rig with acrylic sound shields. Front of house sound would’ve been mixed evenly.
This is why I have a strat. They are easier to hear in a loud mix. I also have one with a humbucker that i switch to a single if I need. Makes all the difference. Loved the video but - they are both nuts
I believe it's a great representation of what both axes are capable of. The Strat is punchy and just vulgar. The Les is creamy and pretty in an ugly way. The clear winner is me for getting to hear it.

Have to give major credit also to bass and drums. They kept it solid the whole time these guys left the Universe on their solos, but had that solid bottom so they had a foundation to come back too. The folks that were there were very fortunate indeed. I loved every second of this.
The shredding was fine but I really loved the chorus lick Gales played..he's like a little kid up there having blast I love it
Eric Gales you are a genius. Your playing is stupendous. Well done!
That was a treat. They complement each other completely. Watching with a smile on my face for that pure rock out session.
This is music
Rock n roolllllllll and blues
Watching the two of them both be amazed by the other's playing is the definition of "greatness recognizing greatness"
I love how much Eric admires Joe's playing, when Eric is an absolute BEAST of a player. Eric is a super dude with zero ego. Great player, but far better person.
Joe is singing that is why doesn't give so much attention. Joe is amazing and very kind guy. Giving changes for many guitarist to shine along wih him. They are brothers and both are very nice persons.
Love the way they fed off of each other. And both were blown away by each other.
I channeled Jimi Hendrix at 6:10 and 6:58 😎👍 Hold my beer, I'm going full screen.
I just flashed back to 1969 when I was 17... shred those guitars boys. THAT, my babies, was amazing.
Dying. Discovering this in 2021 and wondering where it has been all of my life.
These two don't just hear music... they FEEL it.
For those who have ears to hear...music bypasses the brain and goes right to the spirit.
Bonamassa is incredible. His stuff with Beth Hart is crazy...
@Joe Bonamassa we talk through music so you should have my scale mail..?
Watched Eric Gales on Arsenio Hall when he was 16 still watching him.
One hell of a guitarist,,it's still David Gilmore for me
Mannnn what talents. We all know Joe is good but this Eric Gales is certainly making a name and reputation for himself.
I'm not trying to seem superior, but I have been listening to Eric Gales since I bought his first album in 1991 when he was only 15 years old. The guy is amazing and genuinely humble and real. Watching him grow over the years has been awesome. And he has a lot in common with Joe because they were both child prodigies. Great bond.
I'm just glad to know he's on the straight and narrow. Dude is already a legend.
I played with a band that opened for Eric in September in Mississippi. We all had a blast! Eric was also extremely nice and gracious. I enjoyed his set and company immensely. Man what a unique, genuine bad ass!
Yeah he's an awesome player. Keeps getting better.
Eric was Eric 20 years before anyone knew Joe. He was the next big thing before drugs and some time in the big house stopped his trajectory. You can find early Eric in RUclips playing on the Arsenio Hall Show. Glad to see him making his way back to the top.
See? Strats and Les Pauls CAN play nice together, if ya just give them the chance..!
Skynyrd did it for years ( fender v/s Les paul
Play nice? Lmao they started a new god damn world war every time they took turns soloing.
I was going to say more or less the same xD
:)))
Lmao... Great point
That is the best thing I have seen this year, whether in real life or on social media - no more words necessary . .. . . .
And we get crap for the Super Bowl halftime shows....
teejay Trujillo you say that to the nfl and drop the mic dam right
Ain't that the truth!
teejay Trujillo I couldn’t tell you how many years it’s been since I watched an nfl game... and I haven’t missed it at all!!
teejay Trujillo So true, what a shame indeed. The nfl should be a little more picky...
This is how real music looks and sounds like! JB and his band rock!
Have been to three live concerts and what a performance!
But who would want to watch football after this???
The guitars have spoken, they've became best of friends.
What an awesome preformance !
Not even the biggest fan of either guy but no denying this is one of the most epic duels ever. Holy shit.
That's no competition... That's just the two best guitarists around punching it right out. No losers,,, just perfection doing what it does. Mind,,,, blown!
Finishing anything on a Hendrix riff is always going to be a success. Be it a job interview, a court statement, sex, an appendectomy or a guitar battle. This was no exception. Impressive!
Got some Phrygian Dominant progression going on in that bridge and it’s delicious.
Had to google that one Jonathan, however you're absolutely right, as soon as you hear and understand the scale, their ripping solos come through clearly! Deadset legends, the pair of them! Looking forward to a Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise one day!
Love how Eric shows so much pleasure here,
And Joe, too!
Makes me get happy !!!!!
True ! Feel the same
happy. there are different levels. im there at the apogy right with you. holy wow. respect. i see it too. time to eat, and then round 6.
Both are so in love - it is LIKE they are 'making' love w/the Guitars!!!!! :)
Two of the most talented guitarists. My goodness!!!🤯🤯🔥🔥🎸🎸
High key a very important moment in guitar history right here
🤦♂️
hey.........yup
Elendes Gewichse
So nobody’s gonna talk about Eric’s upside down strings, mind blowing
exactly what i noticed. this guy is mind blowing for real!!!
First saw him when he was 16, had the same setup!
That makes sense. I was getting confused by his finger placement.
Just like Hendrix!
Imagine what he could do playing natural 🤯 . ( He’s not a leftie).
If that doesn’t put a smile on your face I don’t know what will
Seeing you two unbelievable cats playing together and admiring one another is just simply freakin killer.
Never heard of Eric Gales...he started off a bit slowly so I admit my skepticism...but then he unleashed that strat!
Saw him down in Orange Beach Alabama 6 years ago he put on a pretty decent show.
speed and talent are not equatable!!! look at B.B king
And be on the stage with Joe? Be foreal😁 did you hear him say if not the best guitarist in the world? The best all say he's the best. And I only mean the guys who can play on this level not the wanna beeeeees 🐝
Johnny Crustacean that’s what my wife says
Got to see him live at the Carolina Blue Festival in Greensboro, NC. He can play.
While we all know there is no such thing as the best guitarist, there is no one who does blues with more fire passion and intrigue that Mr Eric Gales
no doubt.
'Passion and intrigue' - Perfect way to put it :-)
Why cos he’s black? Lol
J Gus Get your toxic stuff outta here!
@@jgus4312 you know the GOAT of "passion and intrigue" is SRV right
Damnation.... I've said for years these two should do a tour together,,,, full sets and end on a jam together like this... WOULD BE EPIC!!
Bless them. 🎉Never get tired of listening to Joe. ❤
one of the only times ive heard a strat sound bigger than a les paul - so cool to see these two together
We need a Blues Brother Remake with Joe playing both brothers.
You guys just blew the roof off that joint , spectacular performance hands down
No debate, after 50 years as a blues lover , Joe is on the top shelf as the Best Blues guitarist in the world. ... And climbing. Awesome Joe
So basically Joe is one of the best music professors in the world and Eric was literally born at the crossroads.
I will keep practicing.
Willie Brown I'll take you there yeah that's under contract
Truth! Good luck, brother!
Jim T yeah Gary Clark jr. is phenomenal.
Amazing!
he doesn't wreck anything, mate. he makes it better! this is not a competition... they're enjoying themselves.
And if you listen at the beginning Joe says they haven't shared the stage for 21 years..!
Edit: sorry, 25 years... feck!
Eric Gales KING of the forgotten greats. He's so unbelievably natural and original.
Someone needs t digitixe this and clean up the audio...What a Performance from two masters.
Mr. Gales was on the south stage a year ago and owned the stage!!!And testify not only with his Strat but also with his words of redemption and the worth of life. Truly a great man.
Great strat" and joe" 😃🎵🎵🎸
People that have never played guitar after hearing this: "Man, I need to learn how to play guitar!"
People that have been playing guitar for years: "Man, I need to burn every guitar I have and never look back."
Me, I'm lighting the bonfire and watching this again
LMFAO
JOE BONAMASSA IS A DOUCHE BLUES
ruclips.net/video/yfjt9VakUrY/видео.html&start_radio=1
When two gods jam together, the mortals who watch stand in awe.
A mighty performance from Mr Gales and Mr Bonamassa
Eric's upside down strings. Crazy way to play! Both such talent. WOW
Jamessenzel...like Elizabeth Cotton. 😊
They looked like they had so much fun, it was really contagious. 😁👍
The brighter sounding Stratocaster punches right through.
You right. They both sounded great, the Gibson is silky and smooth, but that Strat cuts like a knife!
@@thequixoticangler3364 Good way to describe them. These guys play well together. Their blues rock lead runs have a similar percussive strike to them. I mean to say the pick hard and fast.
I have tears and a load of goose bumps. These are two of my three favorite guitar players living. Thanks to whoever captured this moment.
I've seen them both live. I would say who was better .....if I didn't just rock the f*** out every time I'm at a live show. Lol
Who’s the third?
@@TheRoroCuz Gary Clark Jr.
@@TheRoroCuz he is different. He inspires me to play like me.
The look in Eric's eyes when he began that phrase at 9:39...INCREDIBLE!!!
