It is a shame when people DON'T understand "pure talent" as its right before you, until "that talent" is gone and is no more. Power to you, brother Eric...peace to you brother Prince. Respect🙂
Love the singer getting the lyrics from his cell :-) talking about improvisation from the heart... Eric Gale masterful as ever; this guy has a way to always be on the beat with absolutely no effort...
It's good to See that the big Cats also messing up notes sometimes. Raspect Eric Gales. This is the 1st time mi see ya hit'n slightly off notes. You are wonderful and Truely a prof. Well wishings, all the best.
Did anybody see that their lead guitarist just flipped over a right-handed guitar to left-handed....He didn’t even restring it left-handed! He played it upside down! It was fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!👍
This is how he was taught to play from the very beginning by his brother Eugene, he insisted Eric learn this way. So his low E string is on bottom instead of top. The real beauty in this is that he can walk on to any stage impromtu at any time and they don't have to have a left handed guitar for him. I have witnessed him do this very thing a few times
I never meant to cause you any sorrow I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted to one time to see you laughing I only wanted to see you Laughing in the purple rain Purple rain, purple rain Purple rain, purple rain Purple rain, purple rain I only wanted to see you Bathing in the purple rain I never wanted to be your weekend lover I only wanted to be some kind of friend Baby, I could never steal you from another It's such a shame our friendship had to end Purple rain, purple rain Purple rain, purple rain Purple rain, purple rain I only wanted to see you Underneath the purple rain Honey, I know, I know I know times are changing It's time we all reach out For something new, that means you too You say you want a…
Holy shit this was great! I love Eric as usual, but whoever that was singing sounded amazing as well! Too bad the crowd was dogshit--these guys deserve better than that.
I'm hearing plenty of screamin, hollerin and singing along. How are they dogshit? I don't think that Mr.Gales considers them dogshit. I know he considers his audience a vital part of his performance and exemplifies positivity though music.
guess the crowd didn't like it? i mean this dude's only one of the best to ever pick up a guitar and these people are barely even moving at all? i don't get it....
Yeah. I agree. Could be many were just out for a social interaction, but failing to realize the gift on that stage just shows how unattached our youth is to music today. (most of that crowd looks young...I'm sure if biebers boyfriend started playing a flute they'd of been losing their minds).
not surprised he doesn't know the lyrics. I wouldn't know a Prince song if it was blasting on the radio behind me. Prince might be great and stuff but his music isn't for everyone... not everyone grew up listening to him... I'd be reading that shit from my phone, too
Steve Brickhouse , I agree with you ! The crowd tried to rock with the great Eric Gayles, and, his band in the very beginning. The minuet they started butchering such a great master piece , they lost the crowd !!!!
"Masterpiece"? Laugh. Um, you mean a pop tune written as the title song for a trivial movie designed to promote a pop star's image? WTF is "purple rain" supposed to mean, after all? Oh, that's right: nothing.
Prince stopped writing interesting music by the early '90s, relying thereafter on derivative, watered-down funk/ latin/ rock jams supported by his top notch musicians (and his own solid-if-unremarkable playing). Like a lot of big artists during the '80s, he faded, as a musical force... but what lived on was his Brand, which was brilliantly conceived: the whole "purple" thing, and the spelling idiosyncrasies, and the cheesy-fun choreography, etc, for which he had to thank the teams at Warner Bros, who launched him. He was a talented guy but he was far from a genius (he wasn't even the sole composer of his hits, but an NDA can be a beautiful thing)... he was just smart enough to maintain some dignity and keep his mouth mostly closed over the years so the original branding remained intact. And, again: that branding was *brilliant* . The label created that. I know major labels are largely malevolent entities, interested only in maximum profits, but one thing they were good for, in the golden age, was myth-making/ branding. They made that glorified B-list show girl (Madonna) huge, didn't they? Oh, and re: P's guitar playing: nah. He was just pretty good for a guy who wasn't primarily a guitarist. Eric Gale, Guthrie Govan, Gary Moore... the list (of guitarists who are orders of magnitude better) is endless. Prince was better than George Harrison, though... I'll give him that! Anyone who thinks "the vault" is full of hidden masterpieces is bound to be terribly disappointed: I can almost guarantee that the best material was already released, gauging by the thinness of the material we heard for the past 20 years. PS Hum some of Prince's biggest hits and you'll quickly grasp his limits as a composer; those songs were mostly (very catchy) productions.
Hate these type of crowds. Like if you’re gonna go see live music why go if you’re gonna stand there all depressed and dead. Might as well play for the flies on the wall.
Eric played a great gig at Blues festival there and after that around midnight we just got in the cellar hall of the hotel we were staying and there was this local wedding. While local brass band was having a break, Eric just took to the stage and did some unofficial jamming entertaing us. Crowd mainly did not have a clue who we were..:)
Ok the vocals were way off at the end in the famous falsetto riffs and also the guitar solo hit some bad notes. Fellas if you are going to cover this song at least play it in key, it's not too much to ask, don't tarnish Prince's music like that especially this ICONIC gem of a song.
I agree Eric is a tremendous talent, but, this time I witnessed a true classic butchered by a band that did not prepare themseves to play. The crowd tried to rock with them in the begining.#Ijs!
It is a shame when people DON'T understand "pure talent" as its right before you, until "that talent" is gone and is no more. Power to you, brother Eric...peace to you brother Prince. Respect🙂
Eric would be a star in any genre, hands down. always get rhe crowd involved in his concerts
Stunning version, love it, Eric is also one of the many greats
Great job Eric Gales and the band.

Ain't NOTHIN' like seeing EG in a small, intimate club.
Love the singer getting the lyrics from his cell :-) talking about improvisation from the heart... Eric Gale masterful as ever; this guy has a way to always be on the beat with absolutely no effort...

Sam C. Yea I can’t tell if you’re joking or if you just have never seen Eric gales play before
Eric Gales dude!
Thats how I play. Learned early on that a left hand guitarist has a problem when jamming with someone's guitar.
Eric Gales est redoutable ! Incroyable !
He just loves playing the guitar it's shines through
This amazing guitar player deserves to perform in big arena's.
He is Eric Gales, one of the most talented guitarist in the world..he had many albums..and he is the best!
Thanks for recording this!
I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
Laughing in the purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Bathing in the purple rain
I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It's such a shame our friendship had to end
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Underneath the purple rain
Honey, I know, I know
I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too

He making it his own.
It's in the serbian part of the town...
In the end gales gives the correct tempo.
Boom
Holy shit this was great! I love Eric as usual, but whoever that was singing sounded amazing as well! Too bad the crowd was dogshit--these guys deserve better than that.
Where was this? They're so blessed to have been at such an incredibly intimate gig, love Prince 💜 you're so right , it's a cryin shame !!!
I'm hearing plenty of screamin, hollerin and singing along. How are they dogshit?
I don't think that Mr.Gales considers them dogshit. I know he considers his audience a vital part of his performance and exemplifies positivity though music.
This Is Ridiculous!
What's amp? Amazing!
guess the crowd didn't like it? i mean this dude's only one of the best to ever pick up a guitar and these people are barely even moving at all? i don't get it....
Yeah. I agree. Could be many were just out for a social interaction, but failing to realize the gift on that stage just shows how unattached our youth is to music today. (most of that crowd looks young...I'm sure if biebers boyfriend started playing a flute they'd of been losing their minds).
4:54 there´s always the stupid guy talking to the poor guy during the peak of the song, when the poor guy just wants to listen! ;-)
not surprised he doesn't know the lyrics. I wouldn't know a Prince song if it was blasting on the radio behind me. Prince might be great and stuff but his music isn't for everyone... not everyone grew up listening to him... I'd be reading that shit from my phone, too
Dude singing ruined it..Eric was spot on as usual!!

albert king ,otis rush, doyle brahmal 2
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO COMM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Camera pans and there's 50 white people singing purple rain. LOL
NO AUDIO!!!
lol maybe lead vocals could learn the song. wait a minute who the fuck doesn't know purple rain
Ever thought it could have been improv? Many of the greats do just that, and rarely nail the vocals. Emotion over verbatim ffs.
"As I'm sure you are aware, Prince was a dedicated Jehovahs Witness..."
Another sign of Prince's intellectual limits.
Random jam at a wedding? wtf
Hate these type of crowds. Like if you’re gonna go see live music why go if you’re gonna stand there all depressed and dead. Might as well play for the flies on the wall.

oww...man he kinda messed up the lyrics....rip prince
poo poo rehh poo poo reh
Aynsley Lister's Version is way better musically
Sorry Eric, that didn't sound too professional, I think it's his voice.
EG is amazing, but seriously, you’re reading the words to Purple Rain off your freaking phone? Not cool on so many levels to Eric or Prince
Just awful
If your audience singing sounds like that, you need to be louder. They can be "feeling it" without you having to HEAR IT.
I agree Eric is a tremendous talent, but, this time I witnessed a true classic butchered by a band that did not prepare themseves to play. The crowd tried to rock with them in the begining.#Ijs!
He should NEVER attempt to do Prince again. I was dissapointed.
terrible....
What a shame, learn the lyrics. This performance is bad
This is kind of terrible.
