- Modern Gen3 Hemi and Hellcat swap basics. 5.7, 6.1, 6.4 and 6.2 Hellcat. This video explains and shows the fundamentals of a swap, parts and important info for a first-timer. This is more for old-school mechanics that DON'T have computer programming skills. This is more of a plug and play install.

I appreciate you putting this up. Im currently doing a hellcat swap in my 1970 GTX. making some good progress. I learned some things here, thanks!
Speedway Motors sells them
Ask away. I'm limited to 60s muscle cars. Nothing for late model conversions
Dude. If I hit the lottery ima bring my 70 cuda to you. You know your stuff. Great video. 👍🏻
Check out my other hellcat build, cudacat
I watched your first video and said that exact thing on how assuming this guy is we know all this stuff LOL . Now watching this and you connect all the dots. I feel bad mentally assigning you all this responsibility to educate us all on this crazy hobby. Taking the time to do such an informative video. I’ve had a 70 satellite sitting in my garage 30 years with no engine . I think I may attempt this job after watching your video. You should offer a consultation fee for engineering assistance.
Just want people to enjoy their cars. Doesn't take much, but it can be overwhelming
Super informative video! Thanks for all the info. 😄👍🏻
I'm looking to do a trackhawk swap and this is freaking awesome!
great video ...
Very similar to my lsa swap in my nova….looking 👍 good
thanks for all the great info but couldnt find that pig tail for aux pump on Mopar performance
Mopar performance wiring harnesses has end built in. If not running mopar harness but using factory pump i think Rock Auto carries end. Check Gen3 swap. Someone posted part number recently
6.4 SRT jeeps are wrecking for 10k AUD trying to figure out what I'd be able to swap them in very cost effective compared to some LS combos to get the same power here. Thanks for the info
I need one of these for my 89 conquest.
I’m currently finishing up a Hellcat swap on a 2016 Dodge Charger. This is good information
I have a 79 little red express that I’m trying to do a GEN 3 hemi swap 545 RFE and the Mopar performance standalone wiring kit having trouble with the install because of the transmission is a full electronic transmission need a TCM or a way to make this work if you could please help me out and maybe shed some light on this I really would appreciate it
Info on the electrical master cylinder?
You can not drive the original fan with the original ECU?
Nice build. Questions... why the nuts on the pan bolts? How did you cut the block for the starter clearence?
The nuts were a cosmetic touch. Cut off wheel or grinder works
Hey Paul, I'm installing a hellcat crate engine in a 70 cuda, I have 1 question are you using a factory hellcat fuel pump? If not ,then what?... I see aeromotive has a hellcat swap tank, but can I still use the fuel pump control module to run the pump speed? & With the Mopar harness? But then I still have to run a return line, correct?
Where can I get a sternal harness
Thanks for the information, maybe the dodge swap stuff is still to new too, so any Information is great. Is hellcat valve covers a must?
There are options. Not many
Would love to swap a hemi into my 2001 ram van,, not necessarily a hellcat ,, maybe a 6.1 or 6.4
Question, I'm working on a 392 and installing the swap oil pan. I noticed the little rubber tab that hangs down from the rear main seal housing o-ring looks to be ripped or pulled out. Usually, I just shave this flush with the block anyways, but this one looks to be maybe damaged. If it is damaged, will it leak oil or can I just use some RTV to fill it in?
Rtv will work. Fill the hole!
Quick question, doing a hellcat conversion on my ‘93 d150, can you not use the hellcat transmission?
You can use any trans, you'll just have to make mounts. I use 4L85E transmissions for over 5 years now. It's was the only automatic trans that you could get a controller for. Now several companies coming out with them.
I’m getting flashing on my shift while driving. With a 392 hemi swap in a 66 New Yorker what am I missing to drive without shutting down?
No idea. Too many variables. What trans, what controller. I only run hellcats with 4L85E transmissions.
Hey Paul... just and FYI, Derale has a PWM fan controller, do you think that would work with the OE Hellcat fans?
Not sure. Something new.
@@HouseofMouseRacing They've had it for a while... they use a puck for a heat source on the radiator, but I'm sure they could use some other 'variable' source to activate it. www.streetmusclemag.com/news/testing-derales-pwm-fan-controller-no-more-shocking-the-system/
How did you swap the gen 3 dash into the charger?
Never used a dash from a gen3
Would hellcat swapping a 4th gen ram be plug and play?
Nope.
Did you say by chance that you were using tti motor mounts?
No I don't but they work
How can I get hold of you buddy I have some questions
House of Mouse Racing. Email and phone number listed
What transmission are you using
Gearstar 4L85E
@@HouseofMouseRacing bell housing adapter plate?
I hate all the Bouchillion performance references. I spent $8k on a motor from him a long time ago, and had to fight with him for months to get everything i ordered. Neglected to communicate with me on where things were, then turned out his hush hush was to prevent me from finding out who did all the work, and i could've gotten everything for almost half price. Dude was scum.
I spent over$20k with them over the last 6 years. Never a problem.
@@HouseofMouseRacing that's fortunate for you I guess. My scenario happened around the 2016/2017 timeframe. Hopefully he's gotten better. Had to have to remain in business. I still won't shop with him though.
Why would anyone bother ? By the time you are done 'swapping' a std Gen 3 Hemi the costs associated intend you could have easily paid for a "properly" built/funded legacy engine with EFI.... The only advantage I can possibly see ?
might be in a Hellcat/Boosted engine swap.... but again the costs to do so properly inclusive of Body/suspension upgrades beget prohibitive expenses to be incurred ?
Waste of time and Money !
You'll never understand
@@HouseofMouseRacing
you're right I won't ever understand ? Because I Machine/Assemble & Dyno more hp every month than you'll own in your life..... and Flow the Heads of everything during the Process whether it's R& D for a new Port to digitize for CNC just playing with older stuff.... so I know all about any relevant 'potential' in a Gen 3 Head as well ?
Or is it just so it runs like a Toyota you are seeking ? hence why I referenced EFI retrofit ?
Problem, being people either can't or have lost/forgotten the ability to rebuild anything "properly" anymore.... so off to the auto wrecker for a used core and let the swap begin.... the 'new' Cubans !
The simple fact is the Gen 3 just doesn't run any better than the older stuff done ... and again here "properly", and other than gearing in the Trans is a collosal expense for little/no gain in driveability nor power(less on average)
You have no idea on ur facts.
