  • Blake and Mike is back at DIYHEMI with another hemi swap tip. This one talks about the newer Hemi GPEC2 ECM/PCM which came in the 2011 and later models. In 2015 they updated the ECMs slightly and we show you what was changed AND how to get it to work with older harnesses. All from the signal start replicator (SSR) module to SKIM (security key interface module) delete, and Tunability (unlocked or locked?)!!! Also the new Mopar Crate ECM is a BEAST!! and we tell you why. Figure out the differences for your hemi and how you can switch from one to the other.     You guys are making my life much easier for the transformation that I'm making for my son with his cuda by install a Gen 3 Hemi.
    My goal is to get it done as quick as I can because I am fighting brain cancer ,so with that said keep those great video coming

    Can I express how much better the audio is! And using a studio light is just as welcome, too. But seriously, the audio is a 1k% improvement.

    I've seen several explanations on the engine harness configuration and the ECM, however, not one on the TCM or to be more specific the NAG1. What I mean is what's needed to make this transmission shift properly on a SWAP. There are several companies out there that have a monopoly on the setup itself at a very costly price tag. So, it will be good to see a DIY on a NAG1 on the economical side of the configuration and the components needed to make it work to include the possibility of having it re-flashed. By the way... Great explanation!

    What's Interesting is on my 2014 ram 1500 Donor the connectors are gray and tan, but the gray and brown you referenced.

    I have the crate ecu hooked up to the 6.4..... runs great!!
    Is there an extra pin in that ecu so i can run my wideband wire to it for ez data logging??
    I kno the LS guys use a egr sensor that is no longer there and they can data log wideband kinda ez

    I recently got my 70 duster running with 2016 SRT 6.4 and mopar crate engine harness and ecu.... its real nice, runs great too!

    Dumb question... I have a 13' 5.7 Charger Pursuit donor car and was looking to use the new Holley Gen III swap kit for D series trucks. I plan to use the Nag 1. Can I just swap over the complete engine/trans + ecm/tcm + harness/accelerator pedal and just plug and play or is there more to it? Any guidance is much appreciated.

    I will change the interior parts from a 2012 Challenger to a 15 model. Do you mean buy the color and wire harness and it will work on the older model?

    So I have a 2005 limited 5.7 grand cherokee I bought for 600 bucks with a blown motor. I have a buddy with a 2015 5.7 30k mile motor out of a challenger thats hes willing to let go of for less than a used 100k+ mile 2005 era. If I get a vvt delete kit, what else would I need to make the swap? I've looked on forums and everyone says it won't work cuz of vvt. But if I delete it what else is holding it back?

    I have a 2012 charger complete donor car. I understand the skim delete process. But I'm confused where do I find the SSR module. Still doing my research hope to it started when the weather cools down.

    Can you use the old 4 connector pcm from an 08 ram with a 6.4 from a charger or challenger? To give a bit more explanation, My 5.7 is tired and I’m wanting to swap in a 6.4 into a 2008 ram 2500 5.7 hemi truck.

    Do you have any recommendations on running a stock analog tach with a 2004+ hemi? I've read about some tach adapters but there's still some confusion.

      Yep, so there are several ways to do this. With coil per cylinder ignition you can hook a traditional aftermarket tachometer to a ground on one of the coils and put the tachometer in 4cylinder mode (must be a switchable tach that can go into 4 cyl mode). This will get you a close reading.
      The best thing to do for a stock vehicle tach is use auto meter tach adapter that connects to every coil and outputs a conditioned signal similar to older Mopar ignition systems. This is the most accurate way to go. Check out the auto meter 9117

    I have a 69 Dodge Charger with 440, looking to do 5.7 swap. Do you guys actually do customers cars . I can provide the donor car .

    I’m trying to search online for the mopar crate ECM, I’m not really finding it with mopar. do you know if they sell just the ECM by itself without the harness or where I should check on that?

      Mopar calls them a PCM most times. Try checking summit or Jegs. I know they tend to be ‘sold out’ many times. But the are out there

      In the crate harness instructions I found a part number. www.mopar.com/moparsvc/pim/media?id=9012411170846 It's P5160105 for the 5.7 and P516014 for the 6.4. Some of the mopar sites claim to have it in stock. Summit says they will special order it.

    Hey I know y’all are very busy and if you can find the time to help it would be greatly appreciated I have a 2015 dodge that I still owe 15,000 on and it has been sitting in the yard for over a year I tried swapping the motor (original had a rod through the block) with a 2004 motor that was completely rebuilt no mds when I turn it over it cranks for a half second and dies it will run on ether and is throwing no abs, improper torque, and no communication with ecu codes.

      They changed reluctor wheels on the crank in certain years, I've run into this before

    So I can take a 2017 Dodge Ram with a Hemi and put it in a 08 Hemi pickup

      17 engine wil only work in an 08 truck if you lock out the vvt cam phaser and change the crank reluctor wheel
