- The Ae86 Corolla is forever one of our favorite cars: JDM, 90s, or otherwise. The engine swap on Josh’s hachi roku is probably one of the much less popular swaps, but we’re big fans of Toyota’s underrated 1uz: and it’s rad to see one swapped into an 86 so cleanly.

Ever heard of the rare 100 GTUs rx7s? Only 40 have ever been claimed and only 11 are confirmed at the time of this posting! Here are the rarest rx7 FC3S models:

1000 winning limited
150 final edition convertible
100 GTUs...
out of that 100:
83 red on black
10 black on black
7 white on blue
There was only 100 GTUs models created between 1989 and 1991.

the uz is so well placed in every Toyota it is almost like it should have been there from the factory no matter what Toyota it's in I saw one in a swappedGT4 Celica looked factory
@@slamrahovart9024 I'm swapping a 5.3 only because parts are so available and I want it to be a simple reliable and easy to source parts for drivetrain you would think 1uz parts would be more commonplace but they are getting to be older platforms and a lot have been crushed and ruined from lack of maintenance after 400,000 MI

The 1UZ-FE is an amazing engine. Seeing one inside of this small chassis puts a smile on my face. I would love to drive that car around the track. Heck I’d even enjoy siting in it while the owner drives around the track. (:

the show car is T3 old 16v with built t50, and ford 8.8 with 5.13s

@@slamrahovart9024 It makes sense though when you compare the parts availability, support, ease of maintenance, and room in the engine bay does make it a desirable swap. This is coming from a guy who had an e36 with a damn fun engine to drive and learn from inline 6.

I've always wanted to put one in a 75 Corolla Sr5. Would be so much fun. Would have to do so much to strengthen the rest of the car to handle it, but I think it would be well worth it

The 1UZ was sold in a coupe from the factory my guy! SC400!

@@VictorMPR though long and heavy, they yield potential in the right hands and setup. I road race my 98 sc400 and can give other lighter weight vehicles a run for their weight. It's up to the owners to go that route or not but i also agree they are overweight. Check out some of my hot laps at thunderhill raceway on my page if you get the time. Cheers

The 1UZ would've been benefit the Mk3 Supra and the Mk4 Supra especially in North American market because most people there would prefer V8s than inline engines.
I love same-make engine swaps. Toyota to Toyota. Just like how I wanted to put a VK56VD into my 370z but I'm too poor for that lol.

I have a turbo 1uz Celica running the factory ecu. There's 2 distributors. So 2 rpm signals. So out operates on the same signal as a 4cyl.

I'd rather see Toyota make a performance Corrolla hatchback that's RWD instead of a turbo FWD, they've made cars on the same chasis that one was FWD and the other RWD like the LS400 and the Avalon before so they could still have a economy FWD version and a enthusiast model

The LS400 and Avalon were never on the same platform. You must be thinking of the ES, which was front wheel drive.

Some of the cars I've owned in my youth I can relate to the guys that had 60s era Cudas and Chargers. Had I known they'd explode in value...
On the other hand, I'm happy I had my time with them. My '86 was my drift/rally car for years and years, I beat the snot out of it and it had over 300k when we parted ways, mostly because my knees were up against the dash and shifting was getting, err, complicated. Even with all that, it was stupid reliable with all 80-odd horsepower.
If I still had it, I'd shoehorn a 3UR in a heartbeat.

Oof moment #1, only beaten by a tragic story about my S13 I had for 12 years before it was stolen while I was moving in with my future wife and involved in a hit and run with a Lexus. I found out when the police sent me a summons...
Would also love to see a 2gr-fse motor in here... It has 300hp bone stock, and absolutely rips! It is also lighter than the 1uz
1UZ is one of the most underrated engines ever made. It cost Toyota $500 million to develop back in the late 80s
