In this video we show the SRT 6.4L 392 cubic inch gen 3 HEMI engine and 8 speed automatic transmission installed into a Dodge Dakota single cab pickup truck and start to get the engine and chassis sorted out by running the electrical wiring as well as look at the Holley fuel pump setup and begin running the fuel lines and wiring for the Holley Terminator X max

How much did something like this cost. I've been talking with my son about doing this same thing, and he keeps telling me it's gonna be way too expensive and too much work. I still wanna do it all depending on the price.

I'm super excited to see this build progress. I have the body of a 51 dodge pickup that I wanna build on this generation of dakota frame/suspension with this power train combo, so this will be super helpful to see lol

Oil leak looks like it's coming from the rear of the valve cover. In your video you can see the oil trail above the starter
I installed a 4x4 leaf pack to correct the rear BellTech sagging issue on my 99 rt. That also allows me to have a decent towing capacity.
I worked at a Chrysler dealership in Wisconsin, and I haven't even seen a one-year-old truck that rust free.
I want to know where you found that old Dakota! It looks brand new underneath!!!

I know OnDGas was thinking of Hellcat swapping their Gen 1 ram and they said no one is really doing those swap. Maybe reach out to them and do some Mopar work for them!

It looks as though the front drop didn't go as low as it should have. May also have some worn rear leaf springs or R/T leafs on there. As you said, looks like a great project for the average sport truck types.

Please do a gen 1 next. Something rare like a Mark III or a lil red.
Also if you rear mount the battery along with a rear mount turbo. Not only is it a more budget friendly turbo setup, but the extra weight over the axle is worth its weight in gold in these light pickups.
I do electrical installations and one of the things I really don’t like is having to take over half finished projects - I was reminded of that when I saw all the things that were botched or not properly done on this car before you took over..

I used to own a '95 Dodge Dakota, and as much as I loved it, it was a pain in the rear to drive. It was a pig since it had the 2.5 4 banger and 5 speed stick. Sometimes, I wish I would've kept it for a project like this.
Yes my dad n I had an 93 Dakota wit the 4banger n 5speed n yes I know exactly what utalkn bout when u say it was a pig n y'all believe him they def are slow pigs n plz DNT try to tow anything with it. I'm taking bout a car as small as a Civic n u will take 4ever to get to where u going n hope u DNT have to go up any hills if so u better speed up as much as u can b4 u get to Hill bcuz if not might have to go back to 2nd to make it n even with the speed u still gonna prolly have to go back to 3rd LMFAO. It was rough with the truck but it got the job done n didn't have to pay an wrecker to tow my shiiii or nun. But wit all the stuff the make for hemi now to swap em into different cars n all I wish I still had it n also bcuz my dad is no longer with us now he is in heaven with my mom. But would've been nice to have fixed it up wit a up to date motor to put in it n have all the power u would ever need n especially if u thru an ol super charger on dat bad boy

This is awesome, could be a business model for you. I've got a 2002 (bought new in '02) 4x4 Dak quad SLT with an ailing 4.7 and I'm certain I will not be going back with the 4.7. Having a shop able to preform these swaps and not hacked would definitely be an option I would look into.

Your content is interesting, but I really like the truck projects that you do. I’m curious if have you done builds where you just bulletproof a pretty much stock truck by addressing the factory shortcomings?
I have been considering a 5.7 in a gen one Dakota for a daily. I was looking for a playlist of the Hellcat Dakota. I wanted to see how you put the Viper brakes. Is there a specific playlist or was the Viper brake upgrade included in a video with a lot of other things being done. I have watched a bunch trying to find it. I do like this build.
👍👌✌️ I have heard that the 6.4/392 don't like boost I don't know how true it is but seen one blown up and it put the piston sideways in the bore after the connecting rod snapped.

I've been waiting for this one since you first mentioned it.
I do have a question, someone asked me yesterday at a car show what the 'cap' is for on the rear passenger side of the intake. I'm sure it's a "dealer use only" type thing, but what's it's purpose? Something for the oil recirc.? The 5.7, and 6.4 motors have it, the oil catch cans use the hose that comes off it.
Just brought home a '01 Dakota 2.5 base. Wanted to either go big block 451, or gen-3 5.7. (Those hemi's are pretty expensive here!)
Whats the year cut-off for the 9.25 to fit and just bolt in??
How was that rear end bolt on top of the leaf spring, that's a Durango thing. All my Dakota's are bolted to bottom of springs and my Durango's are mounted on the top....
With that 6.4 swsp, can you still use the column shifter from the dakota or do you have to convert to floor shifter???
is there another newer dash that can fit in a 06 dodge mega cab... possibly with the uconnect 8.4
i always wanted to do a hemi swap in my ole school d250 short wheel base truck . or my d150 short wheel base truck . but just seems to be alot of work . an i do not want to put in a LS swap . did one in my C10 chevy an it was a nightmare . only cause i was sent the wrong parts over an over .

man I wish I could get a kota that clean all the ones in my area are rotted to hell and back love the bodystyles but they are either rotted or they where stuffed with bondo when it was originally starting to rust like mine is

holley/hooker is discontinuing all these swap parts. theyre having a fire sale right now too. so if you need parts grab them now

I’m pretty sure both axles are 9.25 I’m pretty sure all the second gen trucks come with factory 9.25 the 1st gen trucks had 8.25 now that other rear might have a better ratio the sport model trucks with 318 factory have 3.92 9.25
The round cover means it's the smaller unit or 10 bolt. They made them with the 10 bolt all the way to 2011.

I'm going to do this with a durango. But instead of a 6.2 or a 6.4 imma do a 5.7hemi- edit: a dueango around this body style. Of the 97-04 i belive the years are.
