Funny enough, the thing I both like the most and the least about this controller is the new stick design. On the one hand, the modules are genuinely quite innovative in their design, and FlyDigi deserves kudos for coming up with such a clever stick module. That said, I can't help but worry that the abundance of plastic materials in these modules, particularly in the tension mechanism, may make these liable to break. I have seen at least a couple of posts on reddit about parts in these sticks breaking or cracking, and I can't help but think that FlyDigi needs to use sturdier, more flexible materials that are more resistant to mechanical stress if they want to continue with this stick module design.

Holy shit those sticks! Finally hall effect sticks that can brag about not having drift for real. With this new re-centering system, and the mini ball bearings, in theory, there shouldn't be any sort of drift caused by grinding of the materials in the future. No grinding on the sensors, no grinding on the axis, only grinding on the base in contact with the spring, but it will level itself out. And the extra tension you get on the sticks is perfect for those extended distance sticks.

Awesome review! The Apex 4 is a bit too much "Hardcore Elite Gamer" for me (feature and price wise) and am very happy with my Vader 3 Pro. But I have to say alI am very impressed! Incredible how much you get for basically half the price of the competition. Those sticks seem sooo overengineered tho, i love it 😅
Papi este control es lo mejor que hay, I used to have a 350$ battle beaver controller and this is way better than my original battle beaver controller for less, I’m just in love with this controller also 0 stick drift
the loss of c and z buttons did it for me. keeping my vader 3 pro. the ultimate controller would have an x y z row and an a b c row below it kinda like the old 6 button genesis controllers
This looks like my dream controller, like 90% of all I wanted in a controller is there. The only thing missing is a touchpad for heavy mouse games on pc(which is fine, I can just switch to the steam controller or a dualsense for those games), and using AA batteries instead for longer play time.
Certainly the circularity test does not indicate whether the analogue is good or not. Flydigi wouldn't leave an 8-10% margin of error on such a revolutionary analog in main line of controllers (Vader and Direwolf are secondary). The Vader 3 Pro has the same margin of error and so does the DualSense (PS5). I think a perfect circle doesn't mean the analogue is perfect.
This controller would be perfect if they: 1) bring back the extra buttons the Apex 2 had next to the triggers. So much more useful than the C and Z buttons they include on the Vader line. 2) create a DS4 or DualSense mode, not just for the adaptive triggers, but so that you can use the built in gyro controls of games or configure the controller with Steam Input.
Just got the controller, its honestly perfect, and the only flaw i can find is the snap back of the sticks; even though it BARELY affects the sticks, it feels weird to use
very interesting tension mechanism on the joysticks. i wonder if the plastic will wear down fast since it's a plastic post rubbing against a plastic plank. would be interesting to see a follow up video after 3 or 4 months of use!!
Idk if it’s the same technology but Razer made a controller that you could increase and decrease tension on the thumbsticks. This was years ago and I had two of them and they both stopped working within a year.
Jezus this controller seems perfect! I wished it was available in the Netherlands but alas. This to me seems like the controller to end all controllers
Love the new in-house design they made - looks a little over-engineered but still innovative. Based on my experience with the Vader 3 Pro and the initial round of feedback surrounding this one, I can see why Flydigi can call themselves the #1 controller in China (and not just because of the quantity they sell). Now if only they can release it in black... but I'm not hopeful for that one since they seem to pick either white or black for the Apex, outside of special editions.
I imagine that they will probably improve on the design later. It seems "over-engineered" but it is providing features that we haven't really seen on many other controllers.
Sony and Microsoft need to take a long hard look at this pad. Because this is what actual innovation looks like. Not their gradual, rehashed, halfassed overpriced efforts.
This has been my favorite controller so far the only thing that can make it even better is if they added back the extra shoulder buttons from apex 2 like the ones from razer wolverine. I just hope this thing is durable I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now with the adaptive triggers always on and so far it has been great.
wow thanks for the review and thanks to flidigi for designing it and sharing the analogs for you to show they are impresive, I have the vader 3 pro and now I feel like a peasant, even though I love the c and z buttons, I love the apex 4 eva version I would do anything to get it.
Great review, as always :) Do you plan on testing Beitong/Betop gamepads? They have a nice selection of models with different specs, would be great to see them reviewed properly like you do (with a teardown). As a suggestion for the testing: Launch a 2d fighting game like Street Fighter 2 and test the d-pad by throwing 10x hadoukens and 10x shoryukens from each side, with a game that displays the captured inputs.
Could you make a video on their adaptive triggers? I saw a couple posts that Apex 4 has a vibration trigger mode where it takes the vibration data and adapts that to the adaptive triggers and automatically adding resistance. Could you confirm that? Apparently, it works without having to have the software open and it works OUTSIDE the games Flydigi Apex 4 supports
@ there is vibration mode also which is exactly what he is saying. It works great on games that flydigi doesn't support been using it on metro exodus for immersion lol but of course it's not as good as the officially supported ones. Oh and also if you're gonna use vibration mode you have to tinker with the settings a bit to feel the difference more I think it's the vibration shielding and frequency that affects it the most if I'm remembering it correctly.
Great review vk thanks a lot! This is the video I was waiting for to get one. The only thing I worry about is how those joysticks are gonna age with heavy use. Because they may be hall effects and not develop drift BUT they have MORE moving parts that could introduce more failing/breaking points than your average HE joystick.
they could also add the top 2 upper bumpers from the past apex 2 . Also, i wish they add physical lock to the back buttons M1 and M2 (the ones closer to the hand when holding a controller 4:53 ) . few controllers have this but some times i just do not want to use/miss click the back buttons . they could also just remove M1 and M2 and add the 2 upper bumpers
great in-depth review as always, I was on the fence with this controller vs the vader 3 pro because of the lack of trigger lock but I think I'm going to have to grab a pair now knowing it has the simulated locks. I do have one question though, does using the motors at full force for the trigger lock significantly impact the battery life? I imagine it might but no clue how much power the motors really draw.
Not really, I used the apex 3 for a while and the battery life was longer than the vader 3 pro Vader 3 has 800mah I think apex 4 has 1500 almost the double!
that's good to hear, I guess having a charging dock should make it a non-issue too. also, I love the use of keyboard lube on the buttons, I've been doing it with all my controllers for a while now too, it especially helped the 8bitdo neo geo clicky stick feel much nicer. my dream feature would be if controllers started having hotswap switches like keyboards too. Are the face button switches here standard mouse switches and are the dpad switches the same height too? I am not the biggest fan of loud clicky buttons, it would be interesting to try mod the kailh silent mouse switches into the apex or vader.
I have a Flydigi Direwolf for a year. Absolutely amazing controller. No deadzone, analogs are really good to use, very precise, every button have the same weight to press and triggers are really good and precise too. The biggest flaw is not having a way to change more gyroscope options.
Did they just add everything from feedback of vader 3 pro on apex 4? (eng user manual, improvement for sticks,...) But still, m5 and m6 shoulders buttons are still not back yet. And now they even remove c and z buttons. Have been long time i not use the l3 and r3 cuz how hard to press them without moving the thumbsticks. Maybe from the stick improvement, l3 and r3 are easier to press now. All is just guessing from me and i only own vader 3 pro, so don't expect much accuracy from my words.
I've been thinking for a long time about which controller to buy. This is my first controller since I haven't played a gamepad in 15 years. But COD makes me learn how to play the gamepad. And about a week ago, I found out about the existence of a certain company and, of course, chose the latest gamepad, but I still haven't decided because I thought xbox or sony controllers were better. While watching your video in the middle of the video, I ordered Apex 4. Thanks for the review.
Good stuff. All I want is haul or hall sticks with no deadzone and drift put in a Sony controller and that would result in a perfect controller for me.
Hey there VK! I've seen on PCGaming Wiki that an update to the software allows the controller to be run and recognized as a Dualsense in Steam. Would that make the adaptive triggers work like a Dualsense out of the box without going through the Flydigi Software launcher, and have support for adaptive triggers in games that aren't mentioned on FlyDigi's list? Stuff like Helldivers 2, for example? This would really push me towards this controller instead of others, and I can't find this info online :( Thank you, and keep up the great videos!
Great review. A few things I didnt see covered: Are the back grips rubberized or gritty plastic? Can I map 3 keyboard buttons to a single button? (Shift+F7+1, on a single press, for example). Lastly how is the Dpad for older style games? Im looking for an all in one controller. Looks like they are finally combining all the features into a single controller, but those things are still unanswered for me. Any feedback is appreciated.
Awesome. Appreciate the quick response. If youre able to find out if multiple keys can be mapped like that , would be super helpful. How would you compare the rubber grip? I own an Elite 2 and several scuff controllers, the KK2 pro and Razer Wolverine V2 which all have different feeling rubber grips. Which one of those controllers would you liken the rubber grip to resemble the most? Scuf has that sticky grip that I like the best but I know thats usually not the type of rubber they use in most controllers. Most of these controllers are using sandpaper feeling plastic unfortunately. The tactile face buttons feel similiar to the Razer Wolverine controllers Im guessing? Razer Wolverine V2 also has a wide disc shaped dpad that is very clickly. Feels great but a little wide for me. Im guessing this one is also wide like that version. Trying to get a feel for it, ha ha. @@VKsChannel
Just tested it here and you can only map single buttons, things like Shift + F7 + 1 won't work, I also tried mapping CTRL + F but also didn't work but you can map CTRL to one button and F or any other key to another button and then use the button combination on the controller, not ideal but it works about the rubber grips I don't have these other controllers that you mentioned but the flydigi rubber grip is better than all of the other controllers I've reviewed so far @@theconsolekiller7113

I don't really like the non physical trigger stops though. Also the back. Buttons are really strange to use. Other than that amazing controller
@@Shadowed_Earthback buttons seem strange, but to me they're fine.
@izpcshop7326 yeah I just really like paddles but the 3d plastic ones apparently flex a lot
I just got Vader 3 Pro. I have to wait some years to have this one. But I really loved it 😍
Awesome review! The Apex 4 is a bit too much "Hardcore Elite Gamer" for me (feature and price wise) and am very happy with my Vader 3 Pro. But I have to say alI am very impressed! Incredible how much you get for basically half the price of the competition.
Those sticks seem sooo overengineered tho, i love it 😅
what a review, very detail, that what i need for a review about controller. Im purchased mysefl one today after saw your video. Thank youu bro
Papi este control es lo mejor que hay, I used to have a 350$ battle beaver controller and this is way better than my original battle beaver controller for less, I’m just in love with this controller also 0 stick drift
Wish for m5 and m6 button in vader 4 / apex 5 :3
the loss of c and z buttons did it for me.
keeping my vader 3 pro.
the ultimate controller would have an x y z row and an a b c row below it
kinda like the old 6 button genesis controllers
But believe me that the sticks completely makes up for that cut
They're amazing
This looks like my dream controller, like 90% of all I wanted in a controller is there. The only thing missing is a touchpad for heavy mouse games on pc(which is fine, I can just switch to the steam controller or a dualsense for those games), and using AA batteries instead for longer play time.
bought the controller week or two ago..should come next week im waitin for it :D
hopefully rewasd will support this soon.
fantastic video, appreciate the teardown and detailed look
Very excited to get mine. And I like the english manual 😅
Se não fosse a gameplay, jamais diria que é BR. Bela pronuncia cara, parabéns pelo canal.
Aw, not again! Why all gamepads out there feature asymmetrical sticks placement? Why my left hand grip should be different from my right hand?
When I'm in dual sense mode, the gyro is suddenly way less accurate and feels like the movements are not 1:1 anymore. Have you experienced this?
This controller would be perfect if they:
1) bring back the extra buttons the Apex 2 had next to the triggers. So much more useful than the C and Z buttons they include on the Vader line.
2) create a DS4 or DualSense mode, not just for the adaptive triggers, but so that you can use the built in gyro controls of games or configure the controller with Steam Input.
i think the shoulder buttons on the scuff envision might be better. hopefully they aren't licensed.
I think that the plastic parts are lubed from the factory because the stick feels really smooth
Honestly i don't mind if flydigi not add back button. But the C and Z face button really must there.
I really don't like this transparent design with lines and words all over, but I do support the technology of everything else on the controller.
Idk if it’s the same technology but Razer made a controller that you could increase and decrease tension on the thumbsticks. This was years ago and I had two of them and they both stopped working within a year.
Xbox elite series 1 and 2 also have them
Jezus this controller seems perfect! I wished it was available in the Netherlands but alas. This to me seems like the controller to end all controllers
I live in Germany and ordered mine from AliExpress. I had no issues. Delivery took about 12 days.
@@ZATlVA I'd personally rather not risk buying it from AliExpress though
@@ZATlVA I Can agree. I live in USA, and there is no place to buy it other than AliExpress. Got here in a couple weeks and I love it already.
Please do daily drive this! I would like to see the long term durability of the plastic see-saw mechanism!
Great review. I thought I would argue with something, but no, I totally agree with the author. Thank you for your deep and detailed review.
I got an Scuf instinct pro, Vader 3 pro and apex 4 Eva edition and I love both from flydigi!
Is Apex 4 better than Vader 3 Pro for FPS?
This has been my favorite controller so far the only thing that can make it even better is if they added back the extra shoulder buttons from apex 2 like the ones from razer wolverine. I just hope this thing is durable I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now with the adaptive triggers always on and so far it has been great.
razer did the adjustable tension thumb sticks on the onza in 2010 but this controller is fantastic
Very clever design for those sticks
Finally a English speaking reviews. The Japanese reviews are great too...if i can understand them that is 😅.
this thing is such a beauty
wow thanks for the review and thanks to flidigi for designing it and sharing the analogs for you to show they are impresive, I have the vader 3 pro and now I feel like a peasant, even though I love the c and z buttons, I love the apex 4 eva version I would do anything to get it.
i want c z and m5 and m6 like the apex 2 had
I have a stick problem on my Nacon Revolution (left stick don't get back to center).
Gonna give this Flydigi a try !!
his analog module is another level from other 3rd party controller brand
one of the best x box controller
Great review, as always :)
Do you plan on testing Beitong/Betop gamepads?

I own it and they got the different presets for that. Racing, Sniper, and trigger locks ( 3-4 settings for that). And I think that's all
@ there is vibration mode also which is exactly what he is saying.
Yeah there is a vibration mode but it will only make the trigger vibrate
It will vibrate in the same intensity as the controller rumble
And this mode works even on switch games as well
Wait, so when this mode is used. There is no controller rumble? But the triggers do vibrate and resist?
Great review vk thanks a lot! This is the video I was waiting for to get one.
The only thing I worry about is how those joysticks are gonna age with heavy use. Because they may be hall effects and not develop drift BUT they have MORE moving parts that could introduce more failing/breaking points than your average HE joystick.
Indeed but only time will tell
they could also add the top 2 upper bumpers from the past apex 2 .
Great gamepad, love this analogs
Excelente vídeo muy completo! 👏🏻👌🏻
Is this controller worth to coast 2 times than V3P ?
I really hope they bring back all the features of the previous apexs/Vader
Especially the roulette wheel
great in-depth review as always, I was on the fence with this controller vs the vader 3 pro because of the lack of trigger lock but I think I'm going to have to grab a pair now knowing it has the simulated locks.
I do have one question though, does using the motors at full force for the trigger lock significantly impact the battery life? I imagine it might but no clue how much power the motors really draw.
Not really, I used the apex 3 for a while and the battery life was longer than the vader 3 pro
Vader 3 has 800mah I think apex 4 has 1500 almost the double!
that's good to hear, I guess having a charging dock should make it a non-issue too.
also, I love the use of keyboard lube on the buttons, I've been doing it with all my controllers for a while now too, it especially helped the 8bitdo neo geo clicky stick feel much nicer. my dream feature would be if controllers started having hotswap switches like keyboards too. Are the face button switches here standard mouse switches and are the dpad switches the same height too? I am not the biggest fan of loud clicky buttons, it would be interesting to try mod the kailh silent mouse switches into the apex or vader.
they are indeed mouse switches but they're SMD switches like this one pt.aliexpress.com/item/32976422040.html@@caretnose
(eng user manual, improvement for sticks,...)
But still, m5 and m6 shoulders buttons are still not back yet.
The trigger stop is really dumb but otherwise a good controller, these sticks will hopefully be the future of gaming controllers.
Once controllers like these become available worldwide, nobody will play with a keyboard and mouse. Even though I am a gamer on KBM.
Will be my next controller for sure.
Thx for the video but do you have a ps5 alternative?❤
Great review. A few things I didnt see covered: Are the back grips rubberized or gritty plastic? Can I map 3 keyboard buttons to a single button? (Shift+F7+1, on a single press, for example). Lastly how is the Dpad for older style games? Im looking for an all in one controller. Looks like they are finally combining all the features into a single controller, but those things are still unanswered for me. Any feedback is appreciated.
Grips are rubberized
I'll have to test the keyboard buttons
And the dpad is amazing for retro games as well
You can use Flydigi Space Station to record and set the macro to a button, then you can trigger a series of moves on a single press.😄
Just tested it here and you can only map single buttons, things like Shift + F7 + 1 won't work, I also tried mapping CTRL + F but also didn't work
but you can map CTRL to one button and F or any other key to another button and then use the button combination on the controller, not ideal but it works
about the rubber grips I don't have these other controllers that you mentioned but the flydigi rubber grip is better than all of the other controllers I've reviewed so far
@@theconsolekiller7113
He wanted to map a keyboard button combination to the back buttons like SHIFT + Q , this is not possible in the macro setting, it detects only buttons on the controller and not keyboard buttons
would be interesting to include that in the future update@@Flydigi
That's the ideal Discord controller ever. Need that color scheme options 😆 (i order one too)
The controller is damn GOOD ... that stick is 10/10
i have 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth and gamesir t4 kaleid but this 1 just tooo damn cool
j'ai aussi une Gamesir T4 Kalei et la apex 4 et bien meilleures meme si elle se ressemble sur pas mal de points
Awesome review
Very pretty design!🔥💪🏽
I'd wish Flydigi would make the gyro fully available while in D-Input mode. All gamepads only support it in Switch Mode, except for Sonys Dual Sense.
how is the D-Pad for fighting game and other game in general?
Hello i just realized there was suppose to be a release for the PC SPACE SPATION that will enable perfect circularity. Have you heard any news on this ?
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho. Sempre aguardo ansioso pelas suas reviews.
