So many people dislike or think it's plain, IMO I think it looks fantastic, the lighting looks really good, it's a very clean design. The lines are not too busy, yet it's tastefully modern looking and I think it's going to age well. They could definitely do an R version and I'm sure it would look fantastic🎉😊
I totally agree. Styling is subjective. I really like clean sweeping designs like the ID.4 and Ford Lightning vs. the aggressive ones such as the Kia EV9, which reminds me of something out of transformers and really turns me off. But to each their own when it comes to styling.
I like the ID4 styling - mature & timeless. My take on styling on its competitor EVs kia EV9 overstyled, ioniq 5 retro very well done, mustang mach e - sporty & well transitioned, model y - awkward, look forward to Rivian R2.
@@CorgEV I'm pretty much in alignment with your styling tastes. The Ioniq 5 looks great. And yes that Rivian R2 could be a major hit with its classic clean box shape. On the positive side, The EV9 seems to be the outlier while boxy clean shapes are trending upward these days.
@joemcdonough7509 definitely, I do like the EV9, Ioniq 5, and EV6. The Ioniq 5 is just a fun design, I think it looks elegant in a very retro Modern Way. I think they did a great job, but even though I might think it still looks good years from now I could see why it might not age as well. At least they're trying. Looks way better than an IX👌💯
A friend recently bought one of these (a fully equipped 2022 model for $28k) and drove me around town while I was visiting. It's much nicer inside than I was expecting. Very smooth ride quality, comfortable seats, quiet, decent power, and plenty of tech goodies. I'm still not a huge fan of the exterior styling but it seems like a very pleasant car to live with, and it's a great deal lightly used.
Yeah, the electric GTI would be super cool actually. This is not it, although it's a pretty nice, practical SUV. I happen to like this design more than the modern over-styled designs that are not going to age well. This is clean and elegant, it does the job.
I wonder, with the setup of this car, position of the batteries and such, if it would have good traction on winter slippery roads with it just being a rear drive, as opposed to a front wheel drive drive? 🤔
The brakes are a non issue, given the fact that it has good regen. The cap buttons aren't a problem either, my wife drives a '23 model, and I drive a M3P. If it weren't for the charging network, and performance.... he id4 would win out.
I almost ended up in this but they issued a stop sale while I was shopping. Ended up in a Volvo instead. Wishing the brand the best but they really should have brought the ID3 and ID4 out here together to create a base then offer the Buzz. They also should have figured out a way to get the USA tax credit on these as they are quite overpriced.
One major reason is that the Chinese car market is slamming the European automakers and VW has lost sales in China, its biggest market. Also, VW is partly state owned making decision making more complex and less agile.
Per Google, the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S with rear-wheel drive (RWD) can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in 5.9 seconds. With the available 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the Golf GTI can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. Unlike what this review states, this vehicle is will not smoke the GTI. In fact, it is slightly slower than the GTI.
He did 5.6 seconds and 5.9 uphill. If he’s right about the AWD version doing 5.0 or under seconds 0-60 that’s still pretty impressive. I don’t think it would smoke a GTI either though.
Great video! I've got one on order, to be delivered the end of this month. I've got the European model which does have folded mirrors, a HUD, a 360 camera and a heatpump. Can't wait to get it delivered. I really love the way this car looks, especially compared to the imho b*tt ugly Tesla Model Y. I also really appreciate the little instrumentarium screen behind the steering wheel. The lack of it which is another reason a Tesla wasn't part of my consideration.
I'd consider buying an ID.4 or a Hyundai IONIQ 5. The ID.4 is a bit bulbous looking, the infotainment screen looks bolted on, and I wish the Pro S had smaller wheels, but it charges well, I like its tight turning radius, and last time I looked the deals on the ID.4 were better.
My problem is the cost 50k with a 290 mile range just doesn’t make economic sense. This vehicle should be no more than 40k. You can buy a Gas powered VW for less…
I have a 2017 VW 2.0 TDI wagon Easily get 60mpg, 1400 miles on a tank, and can do over 130mph EV's might be the future, but for now, the technology is no where near good enough for mass adoption
Drum brakes need way less maintenance and are less prone to corrosion. Especially the rear wheel brake is vulnerable to corrosion in EV, because due recuperation, they are used rarely. So drum brakes are a the better solution for the back wheel and still fulfil every modern safety standards. I hope this helps 😉👍
I love the side and back view of car do not like the front or the small cluster in front of steering wheel looks out of place they need a regular dash plus why are most automakers making EV without a sunroof that opens that’s a deal breaker for me .
id4 production has STOPPED here in the US. There is a major issue with water getting into the door handles. This has been going on since MAY!!!! Yet to have a VW fix. Dealers don’t have.a cluel as to when production will start up again. I understand VW being “late to the game” but 6 months with NO movement! That’s concerning!!!
Electric vehicles are inaccessible and unnecessarily expensive. Especially the ones which doesn’t have good charging network are absolutely useless to buy and own. They depreciate so fast their insurance is expensive. Car makers have got all of it wrong.
I get so much entertainment from the “trying to avoid buying a Tesla” crowd. Because once they buy their non Tesla EV the first thing they do is complain they don’t have access to the Tesla supercharger network. Stand firm on your hate and go find a working EA station lmao.
between now and say July of 2025 the picture we'll become more clear when the 7500 for new and 4K for used Federal Tax EV credits will expire: If dealership's are smart they will gamble, that it's better to take a financial large loss that is big and painful now in 2025, than even a bigger more painful loss in 2026 when the credits expire for would be first time EV owners, who frankly are going to largely dissapear in the United States beginning in 2026: Good Example of what I think is going to happen is this: The newly redesigned New 2024 Subaru Solterra Premium and newly redesigned New 2024 VW ID PRO that have still not sold, will be potentially on ''fire sale'' and available for 30,000 out the door with all taxes and dealership fee's and commission's, As of right now this is just a hunch as I write this on Nov 25, 2024, but it's not outside the realm of possibility, we are quite frankly in very bumpy unknown waters, so buckle up and stay vigilant if your an EV shopper, 2025 could easily be the last year to get in at the best possible price point, (elections do really have consequences sometimes, and this is one of those times)
Sorry, but its missing too many conveniences and too many compromises to be that expensive. Paying more money and getting a lot less than an ICE vehicle just doesn't make sense to me. Besides, I like a sunroof that opens. I actually use my sunroof especially during the fall and southern California winters. BTW, the 2025 GTI will do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds so it won't "smoke" the GTI.
Not to mention drum brakes that's pretty old tech for such a high price.... you can get a Tiguan much cheaper and have everything the ID4 is lacking including the sunroof
Calling the Ioniq 5 sexy is a choice lol. It’s certainly very unique looking but I wouldn’t call it sexy. It’s like comparing the Xbox series x (VW ID 4) to the PlayStation 5 (Ioniq 5). I personally like the boring unassuming look of the ID 4. Not every electric vehicle has to look unique. I like the Ioniq 5 too but realize it’s not something everyone will rock/drive around. The interior having as many cheap plastics and the cost cutting measures is the thing that annoys me the most.
