Great test, my decision is to stick with my samyang 12mm 2.8, I thought about getting the 9mm the D Zero lens But sharpness tests from you reveal otherwise, Samyang for the price is a must...
Thank you for this interesting compare. I use the Samyang since many years on my A6500. The sharpness and good price are heavy arguments in my opinion. But zero distorsion is very nice, too. If my Samyang gets lost once day, it will be a hard decession between both lenses...
Very excellent and detailed review. In fact the best I have found so far. I really like the wider angle of the Laowa 9mm for real estate. And since I will be on a tripod, shooting at f8 shouldn't be an issue. Which would you recommend for interior real estate photography? I already own the 12 mm Rokinon, but after correcting the distorted lines in the images, they cropped in too close. I have the 16mm fujifilm, which is a beautiful lens, but it seems I struggle to find a good use for it.
Very cool video ! Do you think this is a good lens for filming yourself for youtube video ? I hesitate between this lens and leica 15 mm F1.7 What is the lens filming you in the video ?
I don't recommend manual focus lenses to film yourself. There is a high chance to miss the focus point.. Go with autofocus lenses.. Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 is a good one. ruclips.net/video/iX01LeQBXWg/видео.html
It's indeed a better choice than Rokinon. Personally, I don't prefer manual lenses, some people, however, love the experience. You might be interested in watching: Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 vs Sony 10-18mm f4 ruclips.net/video/iX01LeQBXWg/видео.html
Get the 11-20 Tamron. I own one and can tell you it's great. Since it has f2.8 it's better in low light than the Sony 10-18. Plus it's a much safer bet to get a good copy that's overall sharp.
I got the Laowa 9mm f2.8 lens for the Canon M50 because of its superior real estate capabilities. With the Canon M50 aps-c, it equates to a 13mm full frame. This is absolutely perfect. There is a such thing as too wide, like the 7.5mm fails with distortion and looks very unnatural. In my opinion, this 9mm is the best real estate lens on the market. This Laowa is why I will never have to buy a full frame camera. It's just as good and overall, it's just better. The Laowa does everything well, from 1080p @60fps to even 4k at 24fps. The HDR bracketed photos are top flight quality. And excels at shooting those up close, dof home detail shots. This one lens does it all. I love this manual, set it to infinity and most everything is in sharp focus with zero distortion. On rare occasions when I have to shoot a home with poor natural light on a cloudy day, I wish I had kept my Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. That lens is by far the best in low light but just isn't wide enough for real estate. I might get it again only to use it when absolutely necessary. But for 95% of my real estate shoots, the Laowa 9mm f2.8 is the best! 📷😎
I like the 9mm a lot but its cons is its manual focus, while the new samyang 12mm, that has been published early, has autofocus so is the manual focus is bad when using gimbal because i’ll be filming all of my parkour content using gimble so i don’t know if the manual would be a good or bad for my need. I like the 9mm but its problem its manual, will the manual takes lots of time and against my work?

Excellent "In use" comparisons! 🤓
(Must have taken a good bit.)
Very well done comparison! Rokinon is a bit of a beast
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice review. To me, it's hard to compare these two since the FOV is much wider on the Laowa.

did you have the in built image stabilization on when shooting your videos?
exactly
How about new sony 11mm 1.8 AF, does laowa still best to consider?
Laowa lenses are a lottery of whether you get a good copy or a decentred copy . I have owned three laowa lenses and only one was centred correctly.
It's sad to hear that.
hay can loawa 9mm use in canon 80d ?
exellent video
Is it laowa 9mm a good choice for indoor Real Estate videography with Sony ZV-E10 camera ?

aps-c = real estate
Full Frame = everything else
Actually, f2 is a whole stop faster than f2.8.

Great. turkey photos...
They are!
❤👍
rokinon is better
Great review thanks.
Can this be used on the Sony A7c as looking for a wide lens low in weight as I use a Crane gimbal?
Thanks Icecy :)
better to run portrait mode from the gimbal I guess
