I remember loving this show as a kid. I kind of like that they tried to change up the bandannas to differentiate the turtles from each other. I tried to go back and watch the show once, and it's just *shudder* unwatchable. I wish this could have been better.
The show lost me in the first episode when they immediately replaced Shredder with the Dragon Lord or whatever. I hate when they sideline the Foot Clan.
It lost me in the first 20 minutes, the crusty 90’s cgi and effects had told me what I needed to know. Also, like tortle tiddies??? Venus deserves better

shredder is like the main villain in the story throughout all of the shows and movies so it just makes me not want to see this show or movie since they replaced the main villain in the first episode
There's a reason why Venus has a cyan colored mask, at first she was supposed to be the one with a bluish colored mask and they wanted to change Leonardo's mask from his iconic blue mask to a horrible yellow one that way so when they made promos for the show (and it involved blue screen effects) that way some parts of his body wouldn't disappear. It honestly didn't make any lick of sense because in the toy prototypes Venus had a pink mask, they should've sticked with that color. Venus could've worked but the ideas were not well executed, I mean Shinobi and Ninja are the same. Didn't anyone bother to do some dang research? Why am I asking, of course they didn't, they're horrible and lazy. Oh and one more thing, never introduce a brand new character just so you can defeat said villain without breaking a sweat.
Yea I don't think his Game of Thrones comment held up LMAO! Dinosaurs was a comedy, nowhere near the same genre as GoT, but considering how bad season 8 of GoT was, I'd be more inclined to go back and binge Dinosaurs rather than watch GoT again.
Unpopular Opinion: The Next Mutation had pretty intresting character designs as they were done by Kevin Eastman, I like the way they look on paper but those designs don't translate well to live action suits. From what I read they were ment to be older versions of the 1990 turtles but again,they don't translate well to live action suits. One change I'd have made is Leo would still have his Katana blades,Mikey would have his Nunchucks and Donnie would still have his wooden Bo Staff. Does anybody else agree?
One thing you didn't touch on in this video were the "stunt heads" used for the turtles during some action and fight scenes. They looked to be versions of the head with all of the puppetry elements removed, so the turtles only had one teeth-gritting expression. They'd sometimes even have dialogue during action scenes but the mouths wouldn't move.
I don't mind over the head bandana's. They looked good on The Turtle Tots in the 2003 series when they appeared in the flashback episodes and they look good on Rapheal and Donatello in ROTMNT.
In Next Mutation Leonardo had a single katana, but sometimes it would split into like a sword / scissors type thing. I hated how Shredder was barely in the series.
Ultimately the show itself had a lot worse problems but they were also so forgettable that everybody unfairly lays all the blame at her feet. Even though honestly she was the only character that was written to actually give a s*** half the time.
I noticed the holes in the 3rd movie... and that was the turn off for me on the 3rd movie. Other than that, 100% feel the same way. Design design design... then plot when it comes to TMNT

I highly, HIGHLY recommend that you go watch the final episode _CHANGING NATURE_ right now. Don’t read anything about it, just go watch it. If you can’t find it anywhere, I’ll give you a summary. But if you have the ability to watch it, I promise you want regret doing so.
I actually think some of the ideas for the turtle designs were good in this show. The gear they were wearing would actually look good on the old turtles with the colour/style toned down. The head bandana was obviously an attempt to look more 90s lol.

In the mid-90s, Saban Entertainment acquired the rights to the Turtles franchise and decided to produce the first live-action Turtles series: Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation. It took elements from the never-produced fourth live-action film and turned it into a comedic martial arts action program, similar to Saban’s popular Power Rangers franchise. And what better way to promote the show than with a crossover into that franchise? Power Rangers in Space was the version produced at the same time as Next Mutation, and both being on Fox Kids made the crossover possible. The only hitch was that since both shows were filmed in different locations, the performers for the Turtles weren’t the same ones used on their own show. In “Shell Shocked” written by Judd Lynn, the Turtles were brainwashed by the Space Rangers’ nemesis, Astronema (Melody Perkins), to serve her and attack the Rangers. However, the Turtles are eventually freed from her control and aided the Rangers in defeating her. This was the second and last time that the Rangers franchise would cross over with another show outside of comics (the first being Masked Rider), and due to Next Mutation’s cancellation shortly after this crossover was deemed non-canon by Ranger fans.

I was taken to the coming out of our shells concert as a surprise from my grandparents because I was obsessed with anything turtles so I cannot wait for your video on that part. I watched a VHS taping years back and it was one of those so bad its good things.
When I was little and Blockbuster was a thing, I remember taking one of these tapes home. At the time I didn't know this actually was, I just recognized the tuetlew and the I generally loved TMNT so my dad let me rent the tape. I watched it later at home and man was I confused. Now as an adult I understand that this was a whole new series and the designs were different from the films.
I remember watching this series on netflix in the early 2010s, along with a bunch of power rangers show. Miss when netflix had stuff like htis, because now you just can't find alot of these shows anyhwere.
I'll never forget the moment the powerrangers episode with the next mutation turtles aired. As a child I had tmnt and powerrangers exist in a shared universe when playing with my figures and wasn't expected that to actually happen.

All the other turtles were outright crap to her on multiple occasions for no reason while on several occasions she was the only was actually trying. That she started off OP is one thing and yeah it's bad, but it's another when she was legitimately the only proactive and non-braindead character in the show (aside from a couple moments here and there for comedy sake). She wasn't stealing anyone's thunder, the other characters would've been too dumb/bad to do anything anyway. She was never the issue.
I agree on the headbands, but I like that the turtles were a bit different. To me it seemed it was a “next mutation” of their growing up. I always felt like they were poorly attempting to give the notion that the turtles mutagen was still active and slowly changing them as time went on. I was ok with the knee & elbow pads... I just didn’t like any of the weapons at all. Donnie’s staff was a jo, and not a full length rokushaku bo. To me the weapons were the most disappointing. I wish they could have made it better. It could have been cool. Great videos 👊🏾😁🏆
As a kid I hated the show because Shredder had been a really minor antagonist and it was quite odd to see a fifth turtle. The replacement of Mikey's nunchucks with tonfas was quite a misstep. I have rewatched this as an adult and I think it was quite an interesting blend of comedy and action, but I guess that the first ingredient is somewhat too excessive.
Well as bad as this show is I have to admit I'm also fascinated by it. I don't have the designs as much as you as I understand the TV budget probably played a part. Plus look at the promo images and figures they actually look kinda cool. If I was a better script writer I'd have a go at re-editing this with a new dub. I think there is something there to be salvaged. Just wish it featured the Shredder more or that Dragon lord was less comedic and more threatening. Still a great video. Well done. Always enjoy your views.

This is my eldest daughter’s favourite version of TMNT and I gotta say, rewatching it again I actually don’t mind it, especially when compared with my reactions after revisiting a lot of the shows copying the Power Rangers formula and even some seasons of Power Rangers. I even think it’s a better continuation of the cinematic continuity than TMNT 3 was.
Venus could've been good, they just dropped the ball from the Ifle tower. They basically killed what could've been a good live interest woth her origin. Cause it's like 2012 karai all over again, or the other way around. I mean, how east would it have been to say "She was mutated in a separate event". They could've just said she was straight from Italy. But nah, instead they said she was mutated in the same event.
For that turtle girl mask (I've never seen the show or movie of it so I don't know the name of her) they should've made it match with the others cuz if you see the other turtle masks you can see that there was a theme going on with it but when you look at her mask being cyan. It just doesn't match at all with the other turtles

Well as bad as this show is I have to admit I'm also fascinated by it. I don't have the designs as much as you as I understand the TV budget probably played a part. Plus look at the promo images and figures they actually look kinda cool. If I was a better script writer I'd have a go at re-editing this with a new dub. I think there is something there to be salvaged. Just wish it featured the Shredder more or that Dragon lord was less comedic and more threatening. Still a great video. Well done. Always enjoy your views.

I personally couldn't stand the turtles new voices and stooges sound effects.
This is my eldest daughter’s favourite version of TMNT and I gotta say, rewatching it again I actually don’t mind it, especially when compared with my reactions after revisiting a lot of the shows copying the Power Rangers formula and even some seasons of Power Rangers.
I even think it’s a better continuation of the cinematic continuity than TMNT 3 was.

Venus could've been good, they just dropped the ball from the Ifle tower. They basically killed what could've been a good live interest woth her origin. Cause it's like 2012 karai all over again, or the other way around. I mean, how east would it have been to say "She was mutated in a separate event". They could've just said she was straight from Italy. But nah, instead they said she was mutated in the same event.
For that turtle girl mask (I've never seen the show or movie of it so I don't know the name of her) they should've made it match with the others cuz if you see the other turtle masks you can see that there was a theme going on with it but when you look at her mask being cyan.
It just doesn't match at all with the other turtles
