I think people don't realize predators actively hunt for victims, drive around for hours hunting. This is just so sad.
Absolutely, they are constantly looking for an opportunity
@Liz Lagle: Predators are sometimes in the family, neighbours and friends. They are watching and waiting for the right time to strike. They are like snakes or jaguars watching and stalking it’s prey unbeknownst to them.
@@pantonpam8024 I agree, and this may very well have been a neighbor or a friend..
That is so scary to know that. OMG. So you mean they are constantly on the prowl? Sheesh.
Absolutely 🤗 I totally remember that image in my head as if it was yesterday I cried everyday after that as of now you brought it back to my mind 💔 The photography young man took his own life for the fact it broke his heart he was told to stay away when he only wanted to help/give baby girl water 💦 May God hold him extra tight/rock him however long in Jesus Name Amen 🌺🌷🌺
Shame on the people who saw a little girl walking on the side of a highway & did nothing to help or even call police. Unbelievable.
Thats if its True...
That part never sat with me well. The thought… that anyone would choose to ignore a child under those circumstances. It makes me wonder if they may have been involved with her disappearance.
It just makes no sense.
😢
@@azariomaigwa9260 I was thinking the same thing if this is a true fact that anyone really saw her. Omg this is so scary.
I wouldn’t pick up a 13yr old on the side of the road, she could be mentally ill and crazy, a teen killer, involved in problems. I wouldn’t want to be involved in any of her issues. I’d keep driving.
I have lived in this area all my life and the disappearance of Asha has never made any since. No-one can convince me that a 9 year old little girl is going to run away in the complete darkness of night, during a thunderstorm. For anyone to think she did this because of loosing a basketball game is ridiculous.
~just my opinion
Don’t make sense... 9 years old n thunderstorm
@@beefy3996 I don't know of many adults that would leave during a storm. Especially during that one.
I’m the same age and this really doesn’t make sense. A 9 year old doesn’t run away from a good home.
I completely agree
Unless she had promised to meet someone. What i question is that I remember hearing it reported that a number of people saw and tried to speak with/help her and she avoided them, going as far as running into the woods I think. So if she’s running away but has no plans to meet anyone, wouldn’t she likely be hitchhiking and be more welcoming to cars stopping? Otherwise just what was her plan and where was she going?
That’s why I think she was either meeting someone local to the area to run away with or possibly had no intention of running away at all rather left early to do something before school that day. I’d be curious if the things Asha packed which were later found discarded could’ve just been her normal school supplies and books. I’d also ask the parents if there was any chance she might’ve left for school without saying goodbye first, if that’d at all be normal for her
This should've been as big as the Jonbenet case. It's the creepiest, most mysterious child disappearance I've ever heard of... particularly the part where a shy little girl leaves home alone on a freezing rainy night after a power outage. I can't imagine anything more terrifying as a child (or now). The idea that it was "an adventure from a book she was reading" is ludicrous. Kids sneak out and go on "adventures" in the warmer months, usually together. They don't run down the highway at 3 a.m. in driving sleet by themselves. Without a coat. It almost had to be a groomer luring her out. :(
Right--it should have been as much in the news. Instead, we see the Jon Benet Ramsey case over and over year after year. Fine! But what is it in the twisted mind of media and law enforcement that makes them unable to fathom that this child and all others also deserve the same intensive attention?
@@emilerose1424 well said👏👏
Whatever happened to JonBenet Ramsey, the answer is in that house.
@@shirley9209 i agree with that. i don't believe the intruder theory, never did.
No it’s not 😂
There is way more to the story. I don't believe for a minute that she "ran a
way". She slept in the same room as her brother and he said he heard rustling in her bed that night but never looked over to check on her, which I found strange. Also, they found candy wrappers and a picture of a random girl in an abandoned shack not far from her house. Did someone promise her candy? Maybe told her pack a bag and we can have a sleepover and I will bring candy? I really think she was groomed by someone the family knew and trusted.
Remember Polly Klaas, abducted in the middle of the night from a slumber party. The world is full of evil people.
Prayers for Asha and her family for peace.
It sounds more likely, doesn't it? Did you see the photo of the team with the two coaches in the shot? One of them looks a bit suspicious to me. I shouldn't say that as it is entirely discriminating but I think this would be an ideal way to groom a child who loves to play sport. A coach is half-way between a teacher and a friend and can have a lot of influence (often positive, but not always) on a maturing child over several years. I hope all these type of 'friends' have been looked at in this case.
@@loverlyme What??? You think a coach of different team looks suspicious because of a PHOTO? R U KRAZEE??
That wouldn’t explain people having claimed to see her alone walking along highway 18 though unless she was going to meet someone, but I just can’t imagine a 9 yr old wanting to walk down the road alone during the dark in cold temps, wind and rain. It’s crazy.
@@ChevyGirl-1984 I agree with you. But I have read different accounts, that she wasn't positively identified walking on the road. They said they thought it was a small girl but ran into the woods when the car slowed down. I almost wonder if she was running away from her abductor? I don't know but I think about her and her family often poor little girl.
I can see this cus the packing of the bag is weird to me
This case has bothered me for years. What never made sense was why she packed a bag and left her home in the early hours of the morning during a rainstorm. I feel like one of her friends or cousins may hold a piece of info they might not realize they have. She also went to a slumber party in the days before she went missing. Maybe they discussed some adventure or some meet up. Who lured her out? Where was she going?
That actually sounds like a plausible theory.
That’s what I was thinking too. They should interview the kids at the slumber party to see if anyone of them made plans. I believe she was going to someone’s house she knew and they may not have known she was coming. 🤦🏾♀️
At 9 years old she packs a bag and leave her home is a question
Right! Who else was living in the home besides Mom and Dad?
Definitely was lead out the packing of the bag is a give away
I saw a man parked near a girl standing on the sidewalk, talking to her. I pulled over and asked if he was her father. He was not. I asked her if she wanted me to drive her home and she said yes. I talked to her father and told them what I saw. That was 20 years ago. I think in this day and age, I would have to call the police. I don't think it would be ok to take her home. We all need to look out for our children and others.
Talking to a child isn't against the law. Did he try to lure her into the vehicle? When I was 11, a guy in a vehicle approached me while I was walking home from school. That's how I got my first job-delivering newspapers. The guy was a rep from the local paper.
@@jamesbowman6925 That would never fly in this day and age, and for good reason.
If I see a child walking unaccompanied by himself or herself I’m definitely stopping and calling 911.
How no one called the police when they saw her nor stopped her on the hwy is beyond me.
The so-called people that saw her one of them took her.
They do this all the time someone on and higher-ups knows what's going on. That guy Jeffrey was about to tell on everybody so they lied and said that he hung himself everyone knows that they take away all of a inmate's shoe strings and everything especially if they think that they are suicidal. They had to get rid of him and all hands were on deck for that because he had a shitload of names and if he was going down all of them were going down.
@@lisa196409 In a situation like that he should have made a list and gave it to somebody to keep for safe keeping just in case anything ever happened to him, turn over to the proper authorities, even the news media they love a good story.
Because it wasn't her. The witness actually said he saw an adult woman walking. Seeing an adult woman walking is not reason to call the police.
they probably didn't have cell phones
Cold cases are always so sad. How awful if you live with and see the person responsible, but you never find out. There must be times that everyone comes under suspicion in your mind.
@4 Horses Oof.
This family has done the best I've ever seen explaining what it's like being a family of a missing child.
How Can people be so heartless 😢 imagine seeing a child walking in those unusual hours..I would stop and ask her where she is going..may this family get closure
And call 911
They would do something for a dog,cat etc. and not for a child?
@@asuncionllequis7022 that's makes me so angry, nowadays people have become so heartless

They should do another deep search for Relisha Rudd too. It’s ridiculous how it has been over 20 years and they still haven’t found the girl yet!
Yes! Relishas story makes me so so sad . She was such a beautiful little girl and deserved so much more.
Rock star
Actually it was 2014, I was living in DC at the time. I still think about that poor baby all the time and hope she's found. Disgusting predators are everywhere, kids aren't even safe from their own parents.

@@kimdavis6398 I still believe her mom sold her, that woman story just doesn't make sense and allowing your daughter to interact with a strange grown man smh
I've seen docos on Asha and Jennifer some years ago. These just reminds you that families have never given up and how much pain they are still in. Wish killers would at least admit to their murders before they die!
I feel so sorry for all of these families. Not knowing what has happened to your child or mother is horrible. You can tell that this has taken a toll on all of them. Pray they find out what happened to their loved ones.
I heard about Asha`s case here in Germany. Very suspecious, very mysterious. Can`t believe Asha had no plan and just took of. I believe there was at least one other person involved in covincing her to meet him in the middle of the night. No ßyr. old would take of in this kind of weather on their own, someone had to be there or somewhere close to meet her. Sadly I think Asha met with fould play.

Predators in America are out there. A child alone is easy prey. This child went through a horror that no one should ever have to face. We must protect our kids. Any child observed out alone, needs assistance. Or at least notification of the police.
I don't get that people saw a child walking alone along the highway and not 1 decent person stopped to see if she needed a ride and take her to police or pulled over to call into police.
You think that but I can understand people not stopping.
@@dawndavenport5166 What do you understand as to why people would not stop to intervene upon seeing a child walking alone along the roadway. Please explain.

I had tears slapped over my face walking the entire way home along a highway. It was about a hr 45 minute walk I’ll never forget that day. Don't sound right for a 9 year old to leave home like that...how come her father not saying much @ all, keeps holding his head down and can't look the moderator in the face...🤔🤔
I agree. 🙏 They was on the Montel Williams show back in the day and they wouldn't look up straight. If it was my immediate family member my body language and all would be so much different. BS... Something happened to her in that house. No kid is leaving their home willingly in a thunderstorm..

The world we live in…
Yeah...is there a point to this comment?
@@MarmaladeSally yeah, there is. It’s filled with evil psychopaths.
Maybe this is a controversial opinion but I really don’t believe she left her house in the middle of the night in the rain on her own free will. I bet someone lured her outside or took her from her house. I hope her parents get closure soon.
I agree she didn’t leave willingly
That is not a controversial opinion and is in fact a very common theory
@@gethaunted to me it just doesn’t make sense. She wasn’t a teenager who had a car or could drive. I really don’t think a 9 year old would leave her home alone at night, especially without having a set destination
I always wondered if it was someone from her church or a family friend because she had spent time at her aunt’s house recently. Some creep tells her to come meet him in this downpour for something special and she doesn’t realize how dangerous it is because shes 9 and very sheltered at that. I really do not believe she would be out in that storm of her own volition. I think I remember reading she was scared of the dark too.
@@princessbuttercup5928 I agree! In my opinion it had to have been someone she knew and trusted. An intruder taking her in the middle of the night would’ve caused too much of a commotion and I doubt her parents wouldn’t have noticed. Perhaps a friend or parent of a friend, an aunt or uncle or a cousin.
I lived about 30 miles away from this when it happened. It was a heck of a storm that morning as I was getting ready to go to work myself at 4:30am. I just think the witnesses were hoping so hard, they possibly imagined her sighting. Asha was afraid of storms. She wouldn't have left her home in that weather.
Most people posting here say there is no way a nine year old would run away on a dark rainy night, but for some reason what people are not getting is she had a car waiting for her, and Asha did not intend to leave permanently.
This case still haunts me. I’m still heartbroken for her family.
Likewise
What about the people who allegedly saw her walking down the highway and didn’t stop? Who are they? Were they thoroughly investigated? Who sees a kid on the side of the road at night and doesn’t stop? Suspicious from the jump! Were they truckers? Regular drivers? Who are they?
Exactly, someone's lying, bs!
Someone tried but she Ran away.
The road she was walking down was long and lonely and known for truckers. The kid is dead. I honestly believe a trucker took her.
Jeff Ruppe and Roy Blanton Sr. and Jr. were truckers who reported seeing her. Ruppe took a lie detector test.
@@QueenSugaa Certainly someone's lying. In fact, two people are lying: Mommy Dearest and Dirty Dad.

@@Tula_Bear what does that have to do with this? They’ve been searching for her for 20 years, so I don’t think it had anything to do with the color of her skin, she was just a little girl
Well the consensus surrounding Summer Wells disappearance is that the mother is culpable to some degree. Like the sheriff’s department said she wasn’t cooperating with the investigation, lawyered up pretty quickly.
@@JReece3000 That’s what I was talking about. Candus is guilty but the sheriff won’t do his job..

Too caught up in my head 🤷🏻♀️
My mom's side of the family is from Shelby and I remember my cousins telling us about this story and the rumors swirling around at the time about the family. Her case still doesn't make any sense whatsoever. What 9 year old runs away from a good home, in the middle of the night, during a thunderstorm??
Those poor parents! They did what every loving parent would do: lie detector, DNA, interviews.
Sad
They had no choice.
The immediate & massive response of law enforcement & citizens is so heartwarming. The fact that all of that searching didn’t result in her return is heartbreaking. I’m so sorry this happened to her.
Condolences to the family & those who love Asha💐.
RIP baby girl🕊.
She’s not dead
it bothers me when a murderer gets away and when a body is never found.
I remember this story and it made no sense. Someone in that house hold knows what has happened to her. I don’t believe she just walked away - and if she did - something happened in that household.
Sometimes I think someone she knew tricked her into leaving home that day. But then, it seems unlikely that person would have let her walk as far as she did before scooping her up. Someone with nefarious motives would have grabbed her as soon as she was out of the house. I just don't know.
Yes I don’t understand why would she just leave the house
Just last week I saw some information on the Internet about possibly having found this little girl in a jail somewhere in North Carolina. Apparently a few of the guards in that jail house all thought that she was Asha, and the woman in question did say that she was kidnapped as a child. I imagine they’ll do DNA testing to figure out if she really is asha or not. I really hope she is, so that her family can get closure that their little girl is alive.
Whaaaa? Where did you read this? This would be such a blessing for that family 🙏🏾🙏🏾
She looks just like Iquilla but is reported to not be Asha
It’s not her , her family confirmed it. They did look SOOOOOO similar 😖

So many questions. There's way more to this story!!!!!! #1 How could you not hear a 9 year old leaving? #2 Why did Asha really run AWAY???? #3 Somebody knows something and aren't telling!!
my first question
From what I heard about this case apparently her older brother heard Asha get up and move around the bedroom, but he just assumed she was going to the bathroom or something and her brother went back to sleep. I agree though that how could you not hear the front door open. This is just a sad case
Kids do it everyday
What a ridiculous first question! Have you never slept through an alarm? A rainstorm? Your partner getting up to pee? Don’t try and blame the parents for being human being who we’re doing the very human thing of sleeping. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I know this family as I am from Shelby. You have absolutely no idea the pain the Degree family still feels to this day.
@@ericahopper5156Most times it apart of the act or guilt.
Unfortunately, I think this is exactly what happened. The whopper told by mommy and daddy is impossible to believe.
I don't think she ever left her house alive. The dad's story doesn't add up there have been several different versions of the story. If three different people came forward and said they saw a girl walking down the road and nobody called that's virtually impossible at least one probably two and most likely all three of them would have called the police. So I'm not sure what the calls were about but sometimes people try to inject themselves into an investigation. But anyway I don't believe she left her house alive I think something happened in that house. I would be interested to know if there was a vehicle there since her mother was at work that night that the Dad could have used to take her somewhere and throw the book bag out the window. Now the book bag was placed in two trash bags. This was so that nobody would want to get out and examine a bookbag as opposed to a bag of trash that they wouldn't care anything about. There is no way a 9-year-old girl is going to leave her home with the book bag that still has only the stuff in it that she went to a slumber party the night before with. It was in February it was cold and rainy and she didn't even have her coat. I do not buy that story at all. That's my opinion.
Ashas case is one of those that keeps me up at night. I would love to see some answers!

No cellphones and computers, how would she have been lured outside or she was upset about losing the big game and she became a crime of opportunity, leaving out at night.
If I remember correctly, there was something I read about ashas aunt having a computer and internet, and that Asha had spent time at her house pretty recently since they were so close. So I’ve wondered if it was a really early catfishing situation and maybe the person on the other end pretended to be a young girl around Asha’s age to get her to come out in the middle of a storm. There’s something so fishy about the whole story.
Children have been lured way before the internet and technology. Grooming is a psychological technique.
Right.
Always thinking of you Asha 🙏
Bless this family 💗💗💗💗
Ugh, i remember when i first saw this story and i was completely shocked and haunted because i feel like something super devious and evil happened to her. But i pray that's not the case, why cant we just figure it out and bring justice to this family but most importantly to Asha! I feel like enough people aren't involved nor is anyone really trying, so ridiculous 🤦🏾♀️💔
A few years ago her brother used to go on Facebook live, and he mentioned how he vaguely remembers How Some Nights his dad were coming in their room. If I find it again I'll share it
@@blkmeninsuits_urbanenation okay
@@blkmeninsuits_urbanenation What's her brother's name. THE STAR newspaper reported that her dad checked on her February 18th at 2:30 am. WHY? Then she goes missing at 4:00 am. Her mom went to wake her up for school sometime later and she wasn't in bed.
She was a smart girl, so I don't doubt she ran away at night. But I don't believe the witnesses actually saw her that night
The witnesses were probably involved.I hate to say it never know
Lies,Lies,Lies... They did something to that little girl..
I can't imagine the heartache this family has been going through.
I heard about this case a few years ago and I keep watching for them to find her. God bless little Asha😢
I lived in the area my daughters went to school with Asha and this was a big deal my daughters are grown now and still remember this happening to that little girl. There were rumors about her being in a well close by her parents house I'd heard from my neighbors . I told police back then that info in hopes of finding her . It scared my own children to the point of 1 needing theropy scared to leave my side for months it effected her. I always wondered if she was ever found due to moving out of the area many years ago I haven't kept up with it.
Why did she runaway to begin with?
Good question because I asked the same thing.
@@jazmynbrown6820 she allegedly ran away because she lost the basketball game that night & she was very upset but her family doesn’t believe she’d do that
Being from NC I vividly remember this story and it always bothered me. I’m getting chills reliving this story 20+ years later
if not all but most small children are terrified of being alone and the dark. Her disappearance doesn’t not make sense.
this definently is more eye opening when you relize that she is the same age as yourself
I feel theres more to this story, sad tho
Cold cases break my heart :( I wish people would come forward and say what they know
I hope this family gets the closure they need to move on. I hope their child comes home and they find this to be a case that gets solved! Amen! Let miracles flow!
Someone knows something and this had to be someone in her family who knows something, or friends. I don’t think she is alive. If truckers seen her walking, why didn’t they report it? Something isn’t right.
I always always always felt her family was involved some how 😥 I'm sorry
I remember this story about this sweet little girl when I was in high school.i grew up in Kings Mountain so that scared me. Prayers for the family always.
I am so sorry your baby was taken and I pray that your baby is brought home.
This young girl most definitely did not run away. Some of the reasons for disappearance that the police come up with for cases like this are just illogical. A bright girl like her just would not do that
You're absolutely right. I don't believe the parents' ridiculous story for one second.
