Finally!! You have reacted to one of my all time favourite jimmy live performances. This was mushroom records 25th anniversary concerts. The concert went all day and night at the MCG. Jimmy was one of the last performers that day so the show runners had to make sure jimmy remained reasonably sober for the whole day haha. At this time also jimmy was in the middle of cold chisels first reunion tour since they split up in 83. Their album had just been released “the last wave of summer” which today still remains my favourite chisel album. I suggest you start checking that album out. Jimmy’s voice mint during the late 90s. Good times and memories.
Ooh I was there it was a great day
@@lesliedavis2185 I wish 😊
I went that day too. The audio during the day wasn't great. Too much echoing in that huge stadium. But it was awesome.
Onya Nick he is a legend man
Last Wave of Summer is easily some of his best work. If you know, you know.
Happy Birthday Jimmy 28/04/1956 and still goin strong
This was Jimmy's smacked up era, he could have had a 3 day concert back then 😅
Hahaha right! He’s a fine wine baby, gets better with age.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY!!!
This is the same concert that Jimmy performed as lead singer of INXS in their first public appearance since Michael Hutchence’ death. This was the 25th anniversary concert for Mushroom records, November 25 1998 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Jimmy's daughter Mahalia has a INSANE voice too
No she doesn't.
Yes she does
@Leeroy C you tone deaf?
@@TheKwod She has a good voice, yes. But insane like her father, no. Who's the tone deaf one to not understand that?
@@TheKwodAbsoFuckinglutely Agree Mahalia Has An Amazing Voice Love Hearing Jimmy and Her Singing Together 😍
One of my absolute favourite Barnesy songs.
'Ain't No Second Prize' is probably my favourite song of his.
Seen Jimmy live I was right in the front.. pure brilliance..
Happy Birthday Jimmy, from one of your long time die hard fans ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mate, imagine listening to Barnesy and Farnesey for decades and then just how much youd love them!! Thats where us Aussies are at. Great reaction brother 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This vocal gives me goosies 🥰 One of my fave Jimmy songs.
An Australian Legend...PERIOD
😁 blonde Jimmy was short lived
Today is Jimmy's 67 birthday, so Jimmy would have been around 42 at the time of this performance.
Awesome! Driving Wheels is my ringtone, one my favourite Jimmy songs 🎵 ❤
Happy birthday Jimmy, keep on rocking🎉.
Love this song, Jimmy singing live is phenomenal.
Happy birthday Barnsie! Keep on rocking.
I LOVE this performance, and love Jimmy, and this song is one of my faves. This is one song you should ALSO react to the studio version as the range is just as amazing and the vocals are SO clean. Either way, glad you finally got to Driving Wheels
JB and his family were awesome during the Covid 19 lockdowns, they posted regular vids on Facebook (I think?) of Jimmy & his wife cooking, laughing & his family all together playing music. They were so joyful it was easy to forget not all households & families were together by choice, they were a blessing to a lot of people IMO during a dark time. They're probably still doing them if anyone wants to check them out.
Loving the reactions mate! Haha classic vids. I've definitely become a fan of an American fan of Australian music. Cheers.
I have to laugh. As Aussies we don't bang on about how great Australia is but we are very patriotic when it comes to our great Aussie artists like Farnsey & Barnsey. We are proud of our guys & the music they have made.
You ever thought about asking Jimmy to do an internview with you? Reflect on his past performances, his influences? I'm sure if you reached out to him he'd be amenable to it. He's a down to earth guy. Should contact his PR crew/management. That would be a good video.
I love how much you love our Jimmy! I was 14 when I first saw Cold Chisel live. Bottle of Vodka on the stage swigging throughout the performance and then jumped down into the crowd and shared it with us! Different times, that was 45 years ago. It was a small gig at a local community hall and it was free, apart from seeing Elton John a few years later, this was the highlight of my youth! A lot of people don't like his voice because of the "screaming", they just don't understand what he can do with that voice. I love his ballads too. Four Walls, Still On Your Side, It'll Be Alright, Flame Trees acoustic version from Flesh and Wood.
OMG!...reaction awesomeness, to Jimmy Barnes...WOW! what vocals.👊👊👍☝️✨🤓
Jimmy Barnes is the greatest rock singer in Australia with many great songs that always brings back good memories... nothing is better than seeing Jimmy Barnes live with his brother-in-law Johnny Diesel
Great version of a great song, thanks for your reaction matey
I just love your reactions to Jimmy. You make me smile. Jimmy is my favourite of all time.
Happy Birthday Jimmy !!
Jimmy has a great vocal range 4 1/2 octaves of pure belting madness 😂❤apparently that was an A5 he hit there but has been known to hit B5 on a number of other tracks!!! Legendary
Jimmy said this was his favourite song to sing to showcase his range apparently. It's got the range in this song that he gets to stretch. Not my favourite JB song but I love anything he does, to be fair. Glad the blonde didn't last lol. Happy birthday, Jimmy!!
Sweetheart ❤ I love your reactions to Aussie treasures. Please also look at Noiseworks and the lead singer who has been touring recently singing both Noiseworks and INXS songs. Jon Stevens has an amazing voice. Perfection!
Agree. Jon Stevens is an amazing singer and deserves more recognition.
NICK! I've been searching for your reaction to BOW RIVER by Cold Chisel (live, 2003) !! I can't find it and I can't believe you haven't done it yet...! Please do, it's one of the best of Cold Chisel. Mossy is brilliant and the harmonies between Jimmy & Mossy are perfect. x
Yesssssss!!! I was waiting for this one 😅
Jimmy hits the spot everytime ❤ dig your reaction, full appreciation of your musical know how, I've learnt heaps watching You 🤗 ❤ from Sydney 🇦🇺
I keep looking at the black screen behind u thinking that i know u have to shade the vid down but that's ridiculous until i realise the lilac square on top of it is the actual screen we're supposed to be looking at lol
same here I keep looking at the monitor waiting for the video to pop up there only for it to appear in the top right corner it gets me every time lol
Ditto 😂
It's Jimmy's 67th Birthday today.
He was 42 in that video.
Holy shit, F- or G5? That's impressive for any genre.
Love, love, LOVE this reaction!
'That note' was an A5...!!!
I was 6 ft away from him on stage in 1993, his power moved the room, it felt like he was going to explode. His voice has no ceiling.
Jimmy still touches my soul to this day.
Listen up Aussies 😂 you could make Nick's day and year and life by getting him to fly over to Australia 😂 I'd love to see him get to meet Jimmy and Diesel and John And everyone else he loves from Australia . He made me a fan in just a few minutes a few years ago . He's legit!!! He loves what he believes in and don't shoot no S*** ! He sure loves the Aussies and so do I .
This is the best song sung live
We Love your reactions here in New Zealand, keep up the great work.
Love Jimmy, iv seen him in interview's talking about his love for singers like Wilson Pickett, could you imagine him in front of ACDC
Bro !!! Are you serious 😅 I've listened to every song you've reacted to by Jimmy Barnes and this by far is the BOMB .
I love Jimmy so much. We went to an all day festival that he closed once and my five year old son fell asleep as they were resetting that stage for Jimmy. He managed to sleep through the legend. People were stunned.
Happy Birthday Jimmy barnes 28 April 1956
I've seen Jimmy at a tiny pub in Riwaka, NZ and he delivered!
Most Aussies have stopped trying to figure out what he does. He does what he does and the rest of us are blessed enough to hear it. I know you are a singer and have your own perspective on these videos but I would love to see a reaction where you listened to the lyrics. This would be a great entrance to the rabbit hole.
The meaning behind this song is one of the drivers/roadies of his died in a car accident. He drove the big trucks.
Jimmy is the very, very best ever and this is one of my all time favourite songs.
This is pure power and talent.love it
Finally got to this one!! I have been waiting Nick, hope you liked it mate.
Re that top note…. Reckon it was a shade under A5 (though might have got it right at the end of the scoop🤷).
Great reaction mate, love your work! Jimmy rocks! 🇦🇺
Am I your oldest viewer at 97? Pity I can't afford anything to subscribe but I thoroughly enjoy your channel.
My absolute favorite live performance of Jimmy the bloke never lets you down as mentioned in a earlier post this is the one to watch his voice and presence on stage is way above anyone I've seen you have the same reaction as anyone who has watched it love your work keep on rocking 🤘
Fantastic!!! Love it🤗🤗🤗🌏🪐🙏🌕🐞😎🇦🇺🌸🌺🥶🦋🐝👣🦉🏡🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 🌹
Love your passion brother !
Looks like Jimmy was about 42 here in this video.
42 and 7 months 😅
Jimmy Barnes best singer period!!!
It’s my favourite jimmy song woohoo thanks 🙏 mate for the clip
Crap i just remembered when his kids were young and had a song out, "Everybody walk the dinosaur" i think it was called and the kids were called the Tin Lids.
He does a lot of this in “working class man” as well.
I love that you love him!!!!🎉
Well you have a very good ear, he released an album called 'Sould deep 30' so he loves his soul music 🎶
Jimmy was 38 it is the 25th anniversary of mushroom records November 25th, it was a great concert
close.. he was 42 😉
He was born in 1956, which makes him 42 in this video
@@travelsolo2677 umm that’s what I said already 😂
One to look up, Jimmy Barnes - Soul Deeper Live at the Basement. There is no better.
When you come to Australia make sure you line up a Jimmy gig mate.
Between 1988 - 1992 are his greatest years for power
The thing is… he keeps singing like this for two hours straight without Fault. The only way to listen to this whole album is having it loud enough to make your ears bleed!! Best road trip song, windows down, singing your heart out til you have no voice left
My mum thinks it's just screaming. I fucking love Jimmy! This is my going fast on the open road song
nailed it bro with the soul comment, you probably have but if not check out Jimmys soul deep album. you will love it
What a ledgen 😂
Is Jimmy's birthday today.
Jimmy Barnes, a dead set Aussie legend.
When ppl say that Jimmy just screams I feel like saying , well you scream the lyrics then and it should sound just like him right? 😂
I also think straight away that they have not heard his soul songs and they must be tone deaf or not know what notes are.
my man, this was the first track that sent me down the jimmy barnes train when I purchased Freight Train Heart on Cassette.
❤
This is pretty much Australia's equivalent of Bruce Springsteen's "Born In the USA" and should be treated as such.
The reason he sings like this is cause he sings with his secondary vocal cords
Talking about our truck drivers and loneliness being on road
'That note' was an A5...!!!
Mate, check out the recordings from the Barnestorming live concert from the late 80s. Those are my favourite versions of a lot of Jimmy and Cold Chisel songs.
I really dig your accent!
a5 i think, yup, on the piano, the big note at the end was in fact a5 in chest.
One time I would also recommend that you do the video version of driving wheels, it features Diesel on guitar and is an absolute classic film clip of Aussie trucks around one of our steel cities
You gotta hear shipping steel cold chisel.
You should have done the 1988 version when he was at his peak
The only screamed bit is "Hey yeah yeah yeah" eg 7:30
The rest of it is lyrics and you can make them out if you know the song.
It's a belter rather than a radio version, but it's true to the lyrics of the radio/album versions.
That belt is followed up by clear lyrics
"Well he's thought about settling down
A little diner on the edge of town
But in this world of push and shove
He's still got freedom in his heart"
and it goes on to...
"and it's the rhythm of the highway as he rolls on by...."
I could quote lyrics some more but once you get where you are in the song and read that you know it's faithful to the original. This is what, 14 years after his album release of the song?
Obviously by this point in his life, blonde hair and fitness aside he's lost some of the sparkle and response in his voice, after decades with Cold Chisel and a big solo career but geez it's still so darn good.
Chisel was great in the 90s best live 👏
Have you heard is Nephew Matt Schlam? His brother Swanee?
You may have heard this song, but this is live.
Jimmy is 42yo here
That's normal Jimmy lol
Jimmy would've been about 45yrs old here.
Close, he was 42.5 years old. This was recorded live November 14th 1998. Jimmy was born 28 April 1956.
You would enjoy his Soul Deep Album that shows his influences ruclips.net/p/PLoOZmCFJm8AurxyWZaxxC_IqAG7Nt7Z1X
Why didn't you do the video 🤦
brilliant song not his best version here - try to find the actual recording. brilliant
Can't see it I'm out sorry. I can see it by other reactors why?
Thanks for the review, Jimmy is awesome.. Unfortunately can't see the video so well.. Watch the 88 version of driving wheels live, it's even better..🤘
.
Can you get your tongue around the Name: BARNZY ? BARNSIE ? ...
Get it right if ever you meet the man ... He'll take no offence and enjoy that you know him 😊👍
You, Bro, you really gotta stop calling him Jimmy Barnes lol and start referring to him as Barnsey .. if you wanna be understood Down Under 😄🇦🇺
