    I *LOVE* this thing. My mom got this for me while she was overseas and springer is amazing. It is the kingdom blaster of siege. I assume I got luckier because mine may have been made later when they knew what they needed to fix so I don’t have many of these problems.

    It took me a year to figure out how to transform springer correctly. I think springer is a more complex transformer with the instructions not being that clear on it. As for the car mode, it can roll. You just have to make sure the torso is as collapsed back as it can be. It's just a little clearance off the ground but it can roll

    • @PerspectiveEnd

    I can agree, this figure's transformations were an absolute nightmare the first few times I did it. It was so much so, I just left him on the shelf in robot mode with the rest of the display I had and forgot about him for months. I've since had to pack the figure away into storage, which is why I'm hoping that eventually obtaining the Wreckers version may restore some faith in the figure for me, with hopefully better QC and more experience with the transformation.

AND I HATE THE STUPID GREEN PANELS, they can just go in the trash but no, I have to keep them because it fills a gap. I just take them off all together when im transforming this thing.

    I must have won the QC lottery, multiple times over. Very few of my figures, from Siege 'til now, have had issues (the biggest QC issue I have, with a different figure, is a legitimate improvement -- a wrong head/ face, somehow in the correct colors, but it fits the character better). My Springer is tight. It actually requires a bit of force to start transforming his shins. Even with fairly tight knees, holding the shins (outside of the legs) & trying to bend the legs only bends the knees. Thighs are slightly too tight, but not concerningly so. Even my Tracks's legs mostly support him, just fine. Easily knocked out of alignment, if I touch his legs wrong, but even big trucks rattling everything on shelves, when they pass, don't knock him over.
    For the propeller core, I have it on his arm, using one of the stationary side pegs, like a forearm-mounted launcher (top parallel to the arm). There's just enough detail, it doesn't not look like a weapon, from some angles. I forget what I do with it in car mode.
    I also gave him the pair of Autobot Micromasters that combine into a missile launcher (the set with a tank), but he holds it underslung, so the faces are on the bottom. A big Wrecker seemed the best to wield them.
    The sword problem was unavoidable. It's simple physics. Long things being held on one end will always feel easily removable, without an annoying locking mechanism, because touching the other end leverages it off the tab. The only solutions were either move the slot up onto the blade, so they stick up over his shoulders; make the tab longer, & risk it snapping, like with Cheetor; or have unsightly, posts/ peg holes on the swords. If you carefully touch near the tab, unless you have horrid QC, you can feel there's actually a good amount of friction.
    As to the arms, it took me into Earthrise, I think, before I figured out the backpack. I found positioning the arms first, & then tabbing in the backpack makes everything, on mine, very secure (pain to line up, until you learn the angles the armatures need to be at). I really don't like the cockpit section being transparent plastic & being a necessary locking point, especially with how everything was flexing, the way I was doing it before. So, when I finally figured out the order & positioning for it, & saw it doesn't seem to stress anything, I was rather happy & relieved.
    Agree the transformations can be cumbersom, at times. And getting the top of the car to hold together is questionable, at best.
    Oh, & the gap fillers on the sides of the chest never gave me problems, & I didn't even know they could pop off. Yeah, getting the arms into position in car mode is a chore, but I don't think removing the panels would help me.
    I still think FansProject's Warbot Defender is the best looking (for CHUG-scale) Springer, in all modes, though it's not accurate. Unfortunately, mine's knees gave out, after a while, so he can't stand, anymore. Some kind of ratcheting engineering ground down, leaving dust, until the friction was gone. Transforming him is practically a form of Origami.

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  2 года назад

      That's crazy to me, I've never heard of a Springer who had even 1 good knee let alone two, and feet on top of that.
      I don't think that's necessarily true, like look at Grapple and Inferno, they have relatively long guns with pegs on the back, and they don't attach loosely, it takes real force to get them out. it just depends on how they are attached.
      Like if the rectangular peg they attach to was cut horizontally it probably would have made all of the difference.
      The transformation also isn't the most rewarding since you are switching between a car, and a Helicopter with the front half of a car.
      I don't know that i can Agree with you about the Fansproject. It looks to me too much like an old UT figure.

    • @remus_lupin

      @@PerspectiveEnd I was just transforming my Siege Springer, & trying to get the feet lined up for car mode, I got an extra click out of the waist (not sure which joint), somehow (wasn't intentional, but I think it always happens, during that step, for me), which lined up the wheels (with literally paper thin clearance), so the car can roll, without scratching up the belt buckle (mine has never lost any paint, not that he's in either vehicle mode, much). So, it is possible, it just takes extra finagling. I always find helicopter mode holds together better, even if it's more of a pain to get to. Though, tonight, for some reason, the roof of the car mode is actually securing in place. It's normally a tad loose. Must've finally found the proper orientation for everything.
      For the propeller part's car mode storage, I plug it, with one of the thin tabs, into a slot in the legs. With the huge Micromaster rocket launcher on the roof, it looks like a support for it (from some angles; though, it's not actually touching it, unless it's backwards or angled upwards a bit). The pretending it's a mortar launcher, or whatever, is still viable, in a C.O.M.B.A.T. port, in that mode, too.
      For lining up the arms, blind, for helicopter mode (though car mode isn't too different), I line up the tabs on the forearms (& the cutouts for the hinges -- noticed them immediately, when I was first transforming him), first, then finagle the fronts into place (though, pegging in the fronts first does work, if everything's already lined up). Requires getting both sides mostly into position, & squeezing both, together, until they peg in. Trying one side at a time can misalign the other side, given there's some wiggle, I think from the hips, until everything is pegged in. Last thing I do is secure the roof, because of that wiggle, which lines up perfectly, once the arms are in place.
      As to Warbot Defender, aesthetic opinion is strictly subjective. Everyone always has their own tastes & preferences. Never did find Warbot Assaulter, which I did want. It's semi-resemblance to the SDF-1 intrigued me.
      With Grapple & Inferno, as I stated (as a solution for Springer), they're using pegs, which have more surface area for friction, instead of thin tabs. Also, the swords are much longer (from tip to attachment point), providing more mechanical advantage to the lever action. And Springer's tabs couldn't be horizontal, without substantially thickening the blades. Not enough plastic, to prevent breakage.
      I agree there isn't a lot of difference between the general shape of the altmodes, but that's his design. They do try, by shifting the front wheel sections a bit. That's part of why I prefer Defender. Both modes are substantially different, but still very much in line with Springer.

    You are supposed to close the chest assembly with the panels over the struts place already more or less where they should go, not peg in the arm struts afterwards. The panels are there to help keep the struts in place and fill the sides of the chest, but forcing the hooks in after the chest is already in place is very much NOT the intended way to transform it.
    I never had issues with the swords pegging too lightly and the feet aren't that loose, the transformation just requires to align things very carefully. Especially the waist strut is a bit hard to compress and align well, there is a point in which it sort of clicks and aligns into place and it's easy to miss because that click almost makes you feel like you are breaking the figure.
    The roof then pegs in and secures the rest and it pegs in very tightly in my experience if you did everything else correctly.
    The only real issue I have is that one of the shoulders pegs a bit too lightly in helicopter mode and even then it's not super easy to unpeg.
    PS: I don't think I ever managed to pop off those side panels, but then again I never tried too hard to force the arm struts on them after I closed the chest the first time I trasformed it because I noticed almost right away that the hooks on the struts were a bit too deep for that.

    • @PerspectiveEnd

      I try to do that, it just doesn't want to go ever, and that still makes them superfluous and in the way.
      Man I don't know how you can't have a problem with the swords, every time I pick that thing up off my shelves one of them fell off.
      And perhaps yours has better qc at the feet, but mine can't hold a pose. Some times I'll get the ankles to be straight and then like a day later the figure will fall over, and the feet will be bent all the way down because they just slowly rotated till it fell.
      I popped those side panels off 4 times while making this video, WITHOUT trying to peg the arms on, just while switching between modes, they hold on with spit and hope.

    Hadn't planned to buy it, but found on sale for 20$ and like why not. Transformed it once, never touched it again since. But he looks pretty good, i guess.

    His arms going into helicopter mode are very frustrating, you need to tab the forearm into the legs, and then squeeze the shoulders HARD into the chest area. More than I like to do and not think I’m breaking the thing.

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I know what you are talking about. He's a bit irritating, and it does not excite me that the next one of him will be a retool of this.

      @@PerspectiveEnd I sprung for the Amazon wrecker version, they still had a few in stock, that version appears to have the same head plastics as the one they shown in the stream. And unless you really want the extra accessories I really don’t see how it’s worth the extra $ when the figures alt modes themselves, although not a terrible rendition, as you pointed out are not screen accurate, especially when they went way above and beyond with the Ultra Magnus who was the 3-4th version of his character in mainline within just a few years for the 86 line.

    I’m content with Thrilling 30. It is not perfect, but it is enough of what I want that Siege Springer never peaked my radar. I know he isn’t for everyone just that it is enough for me.

    Great review PerspectiveEnd!!!! I have my own conspiracy theory that Hasbro and Takara Tomy are intentionally making the alt modes horrible, since most copies of these Transformers will end up on the shelves of collectors "permanently" transformed into robot mode, and Siege Springer is one figure that supports this conspiracy theory, another figure which made me think of this conspiracy is Kingdom Ultra Magnus. :P Keep on being amazing.

    I lost one of my siege springer’s swords to I gave the other one to Hotrod as a mini sword of primus and I used Lego swords for springer *the big ones usually gold* and they’re square at the end so they look more screen accurate when painted

    I like it more than you! Sounds like you have more issues with the transformation than I do too though so 🤷. I feel this is prolly the best mainline figure we will be getting for g1 Springer. And I'm ok with that, I like it just fine, I don't mind the battledmg even but it would have been nice to get one without it. Because I like the mold I'm getting the comic/toy wrecker logo springer when it finally comes out. I really hope they put out a new Thunderclash I mean he was teased in the comic where they was showing off all the new molds for legacy so why not right!? Anywho, great vid as usual 👌👏👍

    I like the way generations springer handled the rotor/sword.
    The only thing that bothers me with every springer is the need to parts form the blades with every iteration. I get that it becomes his sword, but couldn't a company figure out a way to make the partsforming optional?

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  2 года назад

      It would be cool if they could do that yes, I can understand why it's hard though. Long and thin parts are hard to engineer in.
      And yes the Generations handled it better.
