I'm sure Megatron was designed with this set in mind. The mold was definitely supposed to be a Jurassic Park Trex from the start. That's most likely why they went out of their way to make him so much more poseable in Beast Mode compared to most if not all the other Kingdom Beasts, they knew this figure would come out and be primarily played with in Beast Mode.
Wonder if they will do something with the Dinobot like this as well then?

It looks like the head on "JP-93" is meant to be more of a reference to Muldoon rather than Grant, considering they made the gun look like the SPAS-12 as mentioned
Agreed but it's not like either of them had Chops, or that's like either of their hats.
@@PerspectiveEnd As well, I agreed about the hat and gun pointing toward Muldoon, but the visor of JP-93 looks like Grant's sunglasses. It makes me feel like I am looking at 2 people combined.
Fun fact: Steven Spielberg referenced grimlock with the trex roaring while the banner that said (when dinosaurs ruled the world) droped at her, when in AOE grimlock first transforms into a trex the pose is similar to rexy final roar in JP expect she didnt breath fire.
I mean I know he was a producer, but was it really his call to put that in there?

I like JP’s hat. It looks goofy but it adds a lot of character to the figure. I just wish they game these toys actual names. Giving your design personality only to leave it an unnamed blank slate character is such a weird call.
It does add character, but I just wish it was from somewhere. Like why does he have this completely made up hat.
I really hope they turn JP-93 into an Armada Red Alert, it's too perfect. They could also do a more G1-esque Movie Ratchet too if they REALLY wanted to.

Rexy only appears grey in the ill lit scenes. During the fight in the visitors center you can tell she's predominantly brown. Definitely a darker brown though. In fact I say they should have swapped the brown used for the highlights with the brown the skin is molded in.
Dominion was inevitable from the very start since the first Jurassic Park novel came out.
Also i can`t unsee JP 93`s eyes looking like the classic green alien eyes.
Yeah, I didn't even realize the light piping was green until I saw it blown up on camera.

I feel like the “rule of cool” has honestly been dragged out for far too long. Not saying it should completely dissipate, just saying that shouldn’t be the only thing people should see a movie for.
Yeah, movies really need to start trying to focus on story and stop just trying to look cool.

I'd give the sniper helicarriers a pass. Yes, you knew that they were an ominous portent, but you were supposed to - it puts the audience in agreement with the heroes of the movie. I can't even say the writers were overplaying their hand, since they were writing the movie in late 2011 when the U.S. government was dropping airstrikes on al-Awlaki and his son. I wouldn't blame them if they wrote this thinking, "Yes, this will be abused. So why can't you see that about the real life version?"
But they are TOOOOOOOO Obvious. Why did they have 3 of them? They didn't even need 1. They could have had 1 of those guns mounted to a helicopter and killed every terrorist on earth in an afternoon.
A thousand mounted to 3 Hellicarriers would only be useful for genocide.
And like I said that's not in the top 10 Reasons that movie is terrible.

Thought about getting this one, but ended up finding er barricade and punch on ebay instead. I never got a chance to try the datsun mold and am quite happy with barricade (hope he does not break). Punch is actually much better than expected, and i am glad i got him aswell

At first i wanted to get bluestreak as he is my favourite but i just cannot justify paying more for shipping than the figure itself. But still thanks, ill look into it

This is such a strange crossover, yet I love it.
I'd say it's the best one they've made so far.
You know, I'm endlessly confused as to why Tyranocon is labeled as a Decepticon, considering that the T-Rex saves the characters from the Raptors at the end of the movie. Honestly, it feels like they're using the same logic as with RID15 where the most D-cons were just crazy people too dangerous to be on the streets, rather than outright villains. If anything, that means that JP93 should be the one labeled as a 'con, considering they just locked that dino up since birth.
Well the Trex doesn't so much save them, like it wasn't trying to do that, it was just that the Raptors looked exactly as much like Food as the Human, and then the other Raptors had the brilliant Idea to try and get revenge.

When I first heard of this crossover set, I laughed. This was so brilliant! Another anniversary crossover and it dovetailed with a line already promising dinosaurs. It would either be absolutely brilliant or absolutely terrible. For me, it came out to be a mix.
Rexy-boy: Robot mode is definitely trying to pull a Grimlock without calling it Grimlock. The designers probably hoped they could slip this past their boss who decreed the dino is a Decepticon and the Ford is an Autobot. (Honestly, a good Autobot/Predacon match up is overdue.) Beast mode is all aces. The name is lazy. It's something a guy who has HEARD of Transformers but never seen or played with one would come up with. Can't come up with tyrant? Go the Dinosaucers route and call him Ghengis Rex.
Ford Explorer: No lie, I was hoping for a retool of Siege Hound into the Jurassic Park Jeeps. Robot mode: He's chunky but facing a T-rex you'll need all the chunk you can marshal. Yeah, they knew which mode would be displayed so they half-assed this one. They can't decide if the Ford hunts dinos or is hunted by them.
As for the franchise. JP1 is good because its a science fiction story with dinos. All Universal saw was dinos as a monster film. JP2 - JP3 just more ridiculous ways to shoe horn and monster film. (The less said about the San Diego bit in JP2, the better). JW1 ok, but really banking on enough time and a new cast to make a fresh start of it. But Indominus Rex and the Indoraptor are just monsters. Do a decent sci-fi film and you'll get the fans back.
Tyrannocon is a Girl because all the Dinosaurs were Female.
I don't know if I would boil it down that far, but yes the later ones did lean to far into being monster movies.
You wanna know something odd about the head? It actually isn’t the JP head, it’s actually rather accurate to a real life Tyrannosaurus head, at least in shape

Legit cannot get over how much tyranacon looks like a styleized grimlock and hell i think this mold would suit grimlock as a character more then dinobots mold (hes the king of the dinobots why would he not be the king of the dinosaurs too)

Tyranocon is actually the first ever leader class fembot EVER! That makes her a lot more interesting as a toy
I mean kind of. What about Elita from PotP? They are the same size. And this was absolutely a both a male character and they did nothing to the sculpt to make it femal.
Plus it's only female because the T-Rex in Jurassic park was a Female.

I don't know if it's the Cybertron figure, because it's absolutely something I've handled before, and I stopped collecting during Energon, so I wouldn't have any experience with the Cybertron figure.
Perhaps the Cybertron figure is a retool of an older figure as well.

Daaaamn, starting off the video with the hottest take I’ve ever heard in my life. Heavily disagree with it being bad but I don’t think that predictability made the movie bad at all tbh.
See here's the thing, I shouldn't know what the ending of the movie is going to be in the first 10 minutes. And every plot point was obvious from miles away.
And like I said that's not in the top 10 reasons why that movie is bad.

Man, I hope I can get this set cause I've watched the first JP movie so much that it's my favorite movie aside from Marvel and DC. Jurassic Park is literally my first movie I loved when I was 5, and for you to review it is amazing.

I'm still surprised Hasbro put more effort into their T. rex mold in Transformers than when they still had the JP/JW license. If they put that much effort into the line, they would probably still be making JWD toys now.

Megatron's trex being designed for the jp crossover is a possibility but common, what other design where they gonna use? They weren't gonna use his og design because kingdom clearly had something against that and the jp designs are so popular they're used by everyone. Even dinobot who might look like his original still looks like the jp raptors and that's most obvious in his box art. And lord knows they will never try paleo accurate designs. (Which in retrospect his og design actually looks pretty accurate)
I mean why wouldn't they use the Original head? It's not like the design they gave to him is realistic as it has no feathers.

But its weird that they neither went for show accuracy or paleo accuracy.

Everywhere I see them online I see them for 100 dollars like the megatron mold is only 50 dollars and then the jp93 looks like a deluxe so he’d be 20 dollars coming out to 70 dollars so is the licenseing 30 dollars per pack sold

Ngl, I think they should have used tyranicons head for BW Grimlock. It somewhat reminds me of the IDW head, so you could have BSed it and said 'its a double reference'
Well the reason they used the head they did was to mimic the head for the original toy he was based on.

I think this is one of those toy sets that you know it's gonna be worth it for you if you want it enough. You either love jurassic Park and want this or you don't and you don't want it. And as you said, still probably the best jurassic Park toy set out there.
Also I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Maverick too. The toy is apparently bound to get a re-release with some more accessories and better tolerances so I think it'll be worth a shot. You do seem to like jets a fair bit so it may be worth it for the alt mode alone for you, who knows

It does not seem to be no. The wheels are not ending up on the front's or backs of the shoulders. The elbows are completely different, where the arms store are different. The way the legs hinge are different.
There are some similarities. But they are not the same.
I think they tried to base the t rex off the jurassic world version instead of the jurassic park version

This set not doing well for me, Tyronnicon needs more paint, JP93 needs more engineering, The designer just like don't care about the robot mode, but instead care more about the alt mode.

Ah yes, I thought I was the only one who never wants to watch Winter Soldier again
I came out of that movie thinking it was pretty good, and then in the 20 minutes it took me to drive home, I came to truly hate it.
People forget that the MCU came from a place of sincerely trying to make a good movie, which is why the first few movies were the best (although that might be the nostalgia talking) but nowadays people come from it with the goal of expanding, which goes against the very ideal. To make an expanded universe it needs to expand off some point and not start with the goal of expansion, it needs to come naturally. It’s like decided to fill a gallon tank of water but you only can buy the liter tank, you need to start by fleshing out at LEAST one movie to make people invested with others. Also winter solider was not the worst marvel thing, but so boring and predictable. Hey it least it isn’t any new marvel thing where they lost the way and are starting to make movies and tv to just make them. (Also once you read this perspective, yes I am Hiroshi)
I tend to agree with the idea that the first bunch of MCU films (minus Thor 1 and 2) were the best.
I like Iron Man 1 and 2, Incredible Hulk, Captain America 1, and Avengers 1 more than anything else in the MCU. The only post Avengers 1 films I feel hold up good are Civil War, Guardians Vol 2, and Infinity War.
I would tend agree and disagree, Wintersoldier is incredibly boring and predictable, but that's not all it is and it makes it easily the worst thing marvel has ever done in my book.

Mildly funny story, I thought this box set was gonna be like 50$ at retail and was completely shocked to see that it wasn’t. I don’t know how my brain didn’t think of the fact that this set literally comes with a leader class, which would be 50$ alone, but also has a deluxe class figure with it.
A commander class price point seems about right for this, maybe an extra 5-10 bucks for the brand name(hate that shit but it’s at the very least understandable).
Not the worst price of the crossover line(draculus comes to mind) but over 100 bucks on a leader+deluxe combo isn’t great

Can I say something about the Jurassic World trilogy, they aren't trying to replicate the Marvel formula, the films mostly do their own thing and tries to tell a story. I enjoy and mostly love a lot of the JP sequels and I feel like each film has a story to tell and they are good in their own way. Also, for crossover toys, this feels unrelated but I remember I did a little fanfic where JP93 is actually called Wrangler and transforms into a Jeep Wrangler instead of a Ford from the first Jurassic Park movie and is a Warborn Autobot who does not have a name until he crash-landed on Earth chasing after Tyrannocon Rex.
Your Winter solder Take is very new to me. I agree that the helicarriers are a plot device to be made for the third act but overall the movie is IMO a great action movie that is in my upper echelon of marvel movies. On your point on all the jurrasic park movies being trash not including the first one is THE take. There has not been a good JP movie since the first one.
So here's the thing, everyone I've ever explained my full reasoning to as to why that movie is bad has wound up agreeing with me, like I said that's not in the top 10 reasons why that movie is bad, but I don't know how a movie that PREDICTABLE got labeled as the "SMART" Marvel movie.
Yeah, that one is a normal take, the Winter Soldier take is the hot one.
@@PerspectiveEnd fair enough, I’ve never really thought of it personally as a smart marvel movie so maybe that’s why I see your point now especially looking back. I don’t Really think that there has been any true SMART marvel movies that actually make the watcher think.
I ordered this set not long ago and it’s supposed to arrive in a day or so, and I cannot explain how incredibly HYPED I am to have it arrive. Even though I already have the Kingdom Megatron, Tyrannocon is still just too damn cool. Same with JP93. Even despite the names. Also, I know this probably wouldn’t be possible considering the mostly different skeletal structures of the two, but if Hasbro ever did feel like being adventurous I’d love to see the Kingdom Rex mold be Retooled into JP3’s Spino. Granted, they’d probably have to redesign the back completely to accommodate the Sail, along with most of the right arm for the head, but, I feel like the Deco would be far more impressive considering how nicely all of the paint is Applied Tyrannocon, with the Spino’s grays, whites, and reds. Not to mention the bright green eyes. Heck, they could even Recolor Megatron (again) to a green color like the Rex from that film and sell them as a two pack. But, that’s probably too much to ask for. One last thing, though. I feel like if this set were released closer to Dominion’s whole release/Toyline then I feel we would’ve actually gotten a much darker and more movie accurate deco for Tyrannocon, akin to what most Rex figures from Mattel look like nowadays, or alternatively the new Hammond Collection Rex that’ll be coming out in a bit. As, well most of the more recent Rex’s have been more accurate to the OG movie.
I mean I feel like that's really in the cards, like it wouldn't be too hard to do that.

with collaborative figures i only buy them if i'm a fan of the thing being collaborated with like gigawatt.

This crossover I see as being better than the X-men and maverick (which looks like one of the G2/Beastmachine jets) but does feel a bit overpriced like it’s a new figure and a remould of a leader but I do agree that it needed something like blast effects or maybe some terrain pieces.
Also has hasbro in the past restocked shattered glass stuff mainly Jetfire and if so is there a chance of it happening again? They gave the line a wave 2 which is why I’m unsure
Oh this is leagues and mountains better than the Xmen crossover.

So I decided to rename him, "Jack-Knife" since the dinosaurs jack knifed the Ford Explorers in the film. lol :D My copy had one of the wheels pop off inside the box. :P Tyrannocon Rex is okay, but not as great as BW Megatron. Keep on being amazing.
Man can parts just stay on this boy. And Jackknife is a way better name.

I actually just ordered this set the other day from Gamestop for like $64 dollars. Was always interested in this set, but like the crossover sets before it, it only made sense to buy it when it went on sale.
So if anyone is still needing this, it seems to be going on sale around the net right now.
