Yeah, It's one of the figures that are most like the source material. While I don't find it appealing, it accomplishes its purpose better more recent stuff. They can only use the big fig frame for so many things, honestly. A unique piece like this is good.
The wolfman is an actual character from the 1941 movie and is almost 100% accurate. Also the cloth thing is a skill issue, I’ve never had problems with them.
3:06 the left version is based on the animated clone wars series. Therefore the creepy eyes. Many other figures based on the clone wars series share this.
For those who were wondering "lady with legs" is actually in the LEGO studios "Scary Laboratory" but in that set she has a skirt and not legs, so when they re-released her in the set mentioned in the video she is called lady with legs because LEGO replaced her skirt with standard minifigure legs.
That Series with the Wolf Man was meant to be based on the old movies where yes the werewolf looked more like a hairy man with bad teeth, not our modern day werewolves.
I think the problem with the clone wars minifigures is that they're in the uncanny valley. They look more realistic, but Lego kept the noseless design, which doesn't mesh with the more detailed eyes and mouths. I think merely printing a nose on the figures would've fixed a lot of the problems
“In the early SW set, LEGO didn’t want to risk making unique molds for characters they may never ever use again.” Sounds reasonable. I think they did well with what they had.
I also kind of prefer the aesthetic of those older sets. It makes it feel like something star wars themed built out of Lego instead of everything being perfect because the pieces were literally molded for one purpose.
If I had a nickel for every time Lego made a strange, droidlike adaptation of an obscure podracer pilot in the 2000s, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I could see the Bionicle minifigs being kinda cool statue pieces in a build it's funny to think of them used for play, although I use to play with Skylander figures and they had a huge baseplate so maybe it's not too farfetched.
Small addendum, the reason the ki adi mundi (and all the other figs in that era of lego star wars in general) looks so weird and bad is cause they're based on the cartoon series and not the movies. The reason his beard looks that way is because they tried to translate the style of his beard in the cartoon to a minifig and somehow didn't realise it doesn't work
7:53 is based on the ogs 1940s/50s films, where the werewolf themselves just looks like bigfoot than a werewolf, you're obviously doesn't know about this so I rate this video 6.5/10
It should be noted that the wolfman actually has an almost sasquatch like head with wolf features, while werewolves are the generic (although cool) designs we've learned. It's actually incredibly common to accidentally expect them to be interchangeable.
You know not the wave of nostalgia that hit me when I saw Lego Galaxy Squad, I had completely forgot I had some of those sets. I really wanna go back now.
I love that series 4 wolfman. But wolfman and werewolf have always been a different way of presenting essentially the same creature, and that figure captures the classic Hollywood wolfman very well.
Crazy putting those werewolf ones on there. The first one is an absolute classic amd one of my favorite minifigure parts. 2nd one is a great representation of the specific type of Wolfman they were trying to capture.
The Ki Adi from the first set was in the 2008 CW computer animated series style, that's why he looks a bit odd. He's very accurate to that particular style though. The second set wasn't in that specific art style.
The Harry Potter had many weird figures in its early years. The old Snape had glow in the dark skin, which might look cool, but as far as I know Snape doesn’t have bio-luminescent skin. The old versions of Wormtail were also very bizarre, giving him a wiry moustache and a monk-style bowl cut. They also had a Trelawney figure that looked nothing like what we see in the film, although it’s probably because the designers only had concept art to work off.
6:24 This one feels like cheating. It's not that is a bad minifigure or a bad design, it looks like the character. It's just that people don't care about that character
I just happened to rebuild my Werewolf Ambush set yesterday. I think that the 'bad rubber mask' look is... I wouldn't say deliberate but a happy accident.
7:59 That's meant to look like the classic movie monster werewolf Which I like this design I thought the previous design had a cute head sculpt but it had no detail But this one is super cool and the other ones after this are also really cool But I think they were going with the classic movie monsters version with this one
Fun fact about the classic yellow space man. In Lego worlds, any minifigs you discover can be used to mix and matched with another minifigs to make your own custom avatar. However the classic yellow space man's legs have to be hacked into the game in order to use. Because they don't show up. You can't even play as him either
The funniest part about the yellow spaceman is they didn't even need to put a tan head and break the yellow skin trope. They just had to put a brown head to depict a black guy. Problem solved
I have like 20 of those Harry Potter troll heads. I bought a ton of them in the late 2000s from bricklink for use in a zombie stop motion I never finished
I noticed in my Mandolorian Fang Fighter vs TIE interceptor set that the instructions bags 1-3 for the Fang, and bags 4-7 for the TIE. the weird part is when you realize that there are 8 bags included in the set. The TIE actually uses bags 4-8
I had one of the bionicle playsets as one of my first very own set and the figures were always some of my favorites. Looking back it was probably just because I liked the colors
Everyone always shows the same figure of the Galidor line.. Which is just a Happy Meals toy.. The real toyline, although I agree they don’t look like Lego at all, are actually pretty high quality figures. Really robust and have good articulation. They do look totally out of place in the Lego world, but as action figures they are pretty solid. I seen worse, much worse, from action figure manufacturers…
I have this figure with both antennas, found the 70702 set in one toy shop that was reselling preowned sets at the time. used to have the troll from HP back in my country before I moved to UK. Really cool video ❤
I had that Harry Potter troll Lego set as a kid. I never really thought much of the troll dude. I thought it was ok, but the set itself isn’t that exciting for me. I think my grandma was the one who bought it for me for Christmas, altho it was something that I never asked for at all.
The point of the Wolfman is look more Man than Wolf. He is his own thing separate from a Werewolf. That's like criticising the Monster of the Blacklagoon for looking more Fish than Man amd calling it a bad Mermaid figure.
2:46 Well, the set appears to be based on Clone Wars, which is more of a 3D animated Star Wars series with a distinct style (I know cuz I grew up with it)
Personally some of the Bionicle figures had good detail on them, like their masks look accurate. I can see why people dislike them, and I definitely admit that the 2005 models were extremely limited in articulation
I always thought the first Star Wars one was just a robot... And the other one with the same sort of design looks great as a robot too, even if it looks nothing like the intended character.
I honestly like the bionicle minifigs, theyre a poor representation of the actual bionicles, but without the printing, it looks like a statue of the character which could make for a pretty cool build, or even in universe the smaller people (i forget what theyre called, its been a whike since Ive brushed up in the bionicle lore) could have carved them to represent the bionicles, which makes sense why they wouldnt have most if their long pointy spikes, since its pretty hard to carve that stuff on a statue
I think the first order crew member looks cool. Not the Lego figure but the actual outfit. Looks like the brand BOSS was behind it or something like that.
Ron and Hermione look like they have Roblox faces.
Thanks giggler
Omg screech

Screech spoke the truth
Lego _is_ Roblox's main inspiration so I suppose that makes sense
That Ki Adi Mundi is based on the clone wars dude, they all had the weird eyes

I agree. Comparing cw Ki-Adi to an image of him from the movies was a little unjust

Sounds reasonable. I think they did well with what they had.
