Hi Mark that’s a way down the Solway Firth, gotta go some to get out of there. Once new a chap called Harry who had a Heavenly cat called Cloud Nine. Regards mike
I enjoy your channel very much. Nothing fancy just a regular person sharing his sailing adventure. You sailed in many areas I will be sailing next month. Leaving from Glasson Dock heading to Scotland. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
Wow.. my hometown.. though not lived there in 18 years or so. Was planning to sail over, but tides in the Solway Firth looked a bit much for us newbies.
Hi Barry your home town, you should definitely give that ago. Must be a good pilotage book for the area to help you out with tides or go on neaps 😉mike
That’s a fine video. Nice to see you departing from Kirkcudbright pontoons. Liked your comment on the buoyage. I serviced them for some ten years. Rather a shame I didn’t meet you down on pontoons since I am down there most days just checking our little Club 19 which is made fast on the drying out pontoon. My son Barry sent me the video. Fair winds and fairly calm seas to you both.
Thanks for your videos. I like the simple way you cover the pilotage into marinas and your passage planning. And the way you sail your boat. New to the N Wales area and you inspire confidence to explore.
Fine piloting through the channel! I am always grateful to the people who maintain the channel buoyage and the alignment marks! A question: you tied up the boat in the lock, but I seem to have read or heard thay you were supposed to hold the lines, any reason why you would do the one or the other (by the way, locks make me really nervous as well)? 😎
Sorry Bruce don’t use locks enough to answer that. The only thing I could think is if your where in a lock and your lines were fixed to the land you would need to shorten as you rise and slip as you fall. Other than that I have no idea mike
Thanks Mike, that makes sense. In a lock without a floating pontoon and a big range, you would have to tighten or slacken as you went up or down. It's the floating pontoon that threw me off!
Hi Mike was there any particular reason you chose to go down the English coast instead of the Irish coast on the way home. I know you say you were going with the flow, but you had already planned to go round the corner to Burrow head. We are considering a similar trip next week fro Helensburgh to the Dee. First long passage we have ever done.
Good info and commentary given as always, a very nice sail too. You've mentioned before about mooring costs. Could you give more detail about planing mooring cost on jaunts like yours. Was it £15 per Metre of your yacht?
Hi Joe, 90% of marinas work out about £1.00 per foot but charge by the meter just to mess your head but on average 30ft is £30 per night. Some even cost less mike
Lovelly ! I once had a house on Port Carlisle and a Heavenly Twins Cat in that area , so thanks for the memories.....

Brilliant video again, really appreciate you sharing. Thank you ! David and Debbie.
Hiya Dave/Debbie your very welcome, thanks for taking the time to watch. Mike and Lisa
Never knew that about lining the lighthouse up on the starboard side. I used to sail those waters, and will do again quite soon. Nice tip!
I hope the are as much fun as you remember them to be, happy sailing mike
Very chilled trip, great watch as always
Thanks Mike and Leisa

Hi just spent a couple of nights with Dave off Golden sunshine. He sailed over two days ago from Glasson on a Moody 367. Have a good adventure mike
Wasn’t sure at first why RUclips suggested this probably because I’m local and as I know nothing about sailing I throughly enjoyed that 👌🏼
Well they hit the nail on the head then 🤣

@@sailingcosiloveit One day for sure. Great vid, enjoyed the commentary. Will send on to my faither, who used to be the harbour master there. Cheers
Hi Barry, guess your dad is Robert then? Small world it feels sometimes. Keep the ambition mike
Lucky you having thrusters. We normally spring off if pinned on the pontoon.
I thrusters do save work on many occasions, useful tool or lazy sailing, either way I like it 😏
Thank you, it was great!
Your SUREly are welcome
Good stuff as always!
Cheers mike 👍
Good one! Keep them coming Captain.
Hi Mark do me best mike

Hiya no particular reason other than using the coast can keep the passages small compared to crossings, mike
Like always an absolute pleasure to watch.
One question...
What vessel are you on?
Love it....
Many thanks 😊 🙏
Swallow is a Scanyacht 290 which is an updated LM27. I have a vlog on it in my past videos if your interested. Regards mike

Many thanks for the info.
Seems a contender to become our next vessel. The right size for my wife and me.
