Whitehaven's First Escalator was officially opened at Donald Dixon's Department Store.

The very first escalator in Whitehaven was officially opened by Stu Tolan, with owner Donald Dixon jointly cutting the ribbon. Along with Mayor of Whitehaven, Tom Cruise* and Julia Roberts*.
The escalator was originally from the Olympic Park in London. Not only that Stu got a tour of the store including the Cafe and the salon.
