  • The first four SD60Fs were built for CN in 1985 and numbered 9900-9903. After extensive testing 60 more were built in 1989 and numbered 5504-5563 and the first four were re-numbered 5500-5503. They are still in use today and are seen at work in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

I remember seeing these babies cruising the BNSF northern transcon not too many years ago in pure consists or even single units cut in with the BNSF power here in Washington state. They were very sleek looking and reminded me of all the F45's that used to roam around this territory in BN cascade green and black.

    Some of these I’ve caught on camera in Minnesota. The SD60Fs the Northern Plains have are: 5513, 5517, 5518, 5525, 5529, 5535, 5537, 5538, 5540-5543, 5547, 5562, and 5563. 5513 now has a New Cast P4 (No #3 Bell), 5525 & 5535 have New Cast P5s.

If you want to know where a few are still at work, some are on a small railway called the Northern Plains.

Knowing about these specific locomotives, and the time they were first placed in service, and knowing they are still in service today, do you know, for all of the hours, they've been in use, how many times they've been completely overhauled as a rebuild, or rehabbed?

Just out of curiosity, why is there a B40 BW on the lead of the first train that went by? I am only asking because I thought this video is primarily about SD60F locomotives. Nice video though.
