I LOVE Plug In Alliance and got their annual MEGA Bundle Yearly plan when they gave me an offer in an email I could not refuse! Their selection of digital audio goodies is OUTSTANDING! And all the plugins you can play with too! And their quality are, as you've just found out, world-class too! Yeah, I'm a PIA fanboy and I don't deny it. There are few others I have too, but PIA is there for me consistently.
@@ThomasLoyd I can really see why, Thomas. I'm just getting my feet wet after having been a UA snob for too long and I'm really loving what I'm hearing. I am taking my time, but I can definitely see a very deep PIA dive coming.
You're awesome Mark!! Thanks so much for doing this!! I can't tell a difference between the two either. Great idea on a 4 way comparison. Would it sound different with the API in the Unison slot? Not sure... After all that is why the Apollo devices are different from other interfaces with the physical modeling of the hardware when used in Unison - not sure how much it will really make a difference through with an application (VO) like this. I'm sure you'll do that in your next round. Looking forward to it!
My pleasure. Thank you for suggesting the idea. I predict we'll hear more of a difference when Unison comes to play. And I promise my Desert Island setup is coming soon. That's a tough one.
I agree with Zach. Hard to tell the difference. Both sound amazing. I like the sound of that BCM-104 by the way Mark. Do you use it much on your VO jobs?
Yeah, I think there's no doubt in my mind you could sub one for the other and the listener would never know. I actually just brought the 104 back into the booth to try to find more uses for it since I've been using the Earthworks on everything I'd use the 104 on, and I realized it would be a good match with the API's girth.
@@BillBene67 The Earthworks has this crazy fidelity where it often feels like it's reaching down my throat and grabbing lots of nuance I don't hear with other mics. I really like it a lot, but I'm still trying to master how to get the most out of it for what I do. Right now, it's on character voice duty, but I did a character voice booking with the 104 that felt a little more natural for that particular character. The Earthworks is an amazing mic and like all the mics I own, it usually takes me a few months to really get to where I start to fee like it's an extension of the instrument.
The Lindell is in sale right now for 29, I was PRAYING for the number 1 was the Lindell. Much better than number 2, that sounds harsh, cheap, nothing like the real api. Well, I'll save my 29 for the UAD.
@@jamisonfrench Can you use facetious in a sentence? LOLOL. A lot of times I'll try to answer questions here in a way that helps address future inquiries. Hysteresis is one of those concepts that sounds too complicated at first, but it's really just the fault of a word that makes it seem far more scientific than simple. I'm glad you asked so that in case anyone else needs to know, it's there, so thank you. Feel free to be facetious anytime. :)
You should probably lower the advert audio at the beginning of this vid to blend in with your voice over as it nearly damaged my speakers. It's way too loud dude!

Forgot to include it above. I'm Team PIA and Lindell 50!

Lindell has more low end with those settings. You can pick it out every time.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Awwww...good point. How does the Earthworks compare to the Soyuz or any other top notch mics you have?

i like two
I honestly keep going back and forth. I can’t pick.
Hysteresis. Could you use that in a sentence please? 🧐 😂 Great video. Lindell for me.
Thanks Jamison! Hysteresis lets you pick a different volume level for the gate or expander to close at. Almost like setting a second threshold.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff I was being facetious.. but that is perfect! 👌 🙃

The pre-roll ad? I have no control over that I’d that what you mean.
