The 550 eq on here is spot on. So much that I returned the hardware 5500 because of how identical it was on multiple blind tests. Really fantastic job with that particular emulation. You should definitely consider doing a side by side comparison.

Great tutorial: always loved the api sound and the (old) Vision channel was the first plugin i acquired after getting the apollo X, about 3 years ago. Now i use the api console in Luna and i rarely use anything else except for some classic compressors or eq on some specific tracks and effects of course. Love UA, if only those plugins could get a bit less expensive... 😉
Having trouble here getting the API Vision components (DSP version, not using Spark at all) to run inside Console 1. For example, selecting the UAD API Vision EQ throws a failed error in the Console 1 GUI.

The compressor has two modes - "New" for feed-forward compression, and "Old" for feed-back. This controls where the detector is placed in the circuit, and affects both the sound and behavior of the compressor.
I’m curious if the plug-in is the exact same thing as the vision console extension? I like the plug-in more because I can use my mouse wheel to adjust parameters. Does one use more dsp than the other? Is it just the same algorithms but it’s a workflow improvement inside of Luna adding automatically to each new audio track? I’m confused to whether there is a difference or not. I’m assuming there is no difference.

Ok Drew, why is the TAG all greyed out and non-functional on when I load API Vision Channel Strip OR ANY OTHER plugin for that matter? It doesn't work in LUNA or what?! Update 6/4: I feel so stupid that I just figured this out now. I didn't select a UADx plugin until today. I clicked on the PRESET button and TAGS showed up highlighted. This feature only works on the brand new update offering UADx plugins. This neat little feature needs to be included on owned plugins for the LUNAtics. To be fair Drew is using another DAW in this demonstration so I wondered why it didn't work in LUNA.

The one thing I didn't really like the compressor doing is wash out the transients a bit. Take a listen to the snare especially. Sure the level came up substantially but instead of the more focused sound you get with no compression applied, you get this double hit. Maybe that's fine for the room as you'd mix the sound in but i guess it's something to watch out for.
Please God, stop making more console emulations and once and for all produce a Fender Deluxe Reverb plug. It is one of the THE most commonly used amps on the planet and has only been done by IK multimedia like 12 years ago. Please audio gods at UAD hear my prayers.🙏🙏🙏🙏

It's only native in LUNA when using console emulation.
@@Billy_bSLAYER Spark lets you run some of the UAD library native. You don't need Luna to do it anymore.

Amazing plugin in! But why does it alias so much when other plugins don't like Helios 69 or Manley Voxbox???
On my channel strip theres only one eq. How do I access the other eq with more bands?
Press the button labeled "Type" in the lower part of the EQ section.

The 88RS is really good. I prefer it to the Neve preamps for mixing. I still use the API Vision quite a bit. SSL is great too. Get all three.

Do you have the updated MKII API Vision? You need that.

It’s the wire mesh from the bottom of the snare and the room sound. It still has snap and it denser, giving you more headroom.
