I am always amazed how plugin alliance can make these plugins so cpu efficient, maybe it is the way they handle the saturation. Anyway another fantastic review
Thanks Wayne!!
I’m currently using this on an album mix, as a digital console - it sounds like American rock in the eighties.
Nice!!
I must say, good job reviewing this plugin. One thing that's invaluable and not often talked about about these Lindell channel strip plugins is the input and output level meters. You can very easily tell if things are quieter or louder on the input and output. I like how you don't duck the audio of the track when you talk, and you did a good job ABing the busses, to me the difference is audible even through youtube, it's definitely subtle, but I pick up on a slight more amount of lower mid range, and sense of clarity of the individual instruments. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
Really punchy low end and soft highs. Love this!!
Thanks for watching!
Honestly can't wait for this one. The Lindell 80 series is one of the best plugins I've ever heard.
I think you'll like this one
I got a chance to tinker around with it earlier today, and I'm really impressed with some of the added features that even stepped beyond the Lindell 80. Can't wait to hear your sound comparisons with the UAD!
Thanks for sharing
I was messing around with it today i think it sounds great so far, can definitely hear the punch and tightness coming through the mix. Great video
Thanks for watching!
Finally!!! They came out with one!!!
You'll love it
I have the Lindell 80 NEVE and it’s awesome! Can’t wait to try this out
Hope you enjoy it!
Got Lindell80 too and love it. The new 50 series is aweso too. You'll love it, I'm sure. Cheers
how do these compare? I got the 80 too and it’s awesome
Got this today and just discovered your channel. Awesome. Subbed! Thanks for your review. I love the PA consoles.
Welcome aboard!
I enjoyed the review very much...straight talk, no bla bla.....thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic job
Thank you very much!!
Great review Dave! Placed it on my list as a “gotta have” plugin. Can’t wait for a true sale price.
It will go on sale at one point I am sure!
Listening on my phone speakers and I could clearly tell what the bus plugin was adding. Sounded a tiny bit wider and more depth.
Thanks for watching!
I tested it on my channel also - with a song. Btw - Lindell digital designed this - PA just sells it on their site. It's really good.
Thanks for watching!
Great job Dave! Looking forward to using this plug.
Enjoy!
you always give a very good explanation of the plugins thx mate may god bless you.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I have to try this one. I tried many channel strip plugins over the years, with big names and familiar designs like SSL, Neve... and the one I love the most is actually Scheps Omni channel from waves. So much flexibility and features in a still easy to use plugin with several hidden features (soloing the frequency band on eq and filters...), and it sounds great. I'm interested how this one will sound to my ears and in my workflow. Thanks for the video showcase.
Thanks for watching!
Scheps is hard to beat. Those de-essers, compressors, saturation, M/S ...maybe teh sound of the EQ's isnt as warm and forgiving as this LIndell. At least that's what I found in my video I posted.
What about the Softube Console 1 integrated API Channel Strip?
I dont own softube
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy I understand. I only asked because at 0:25, you said that aside from Universal Audio you weren't aware of any other companies that make an API Channel Strip. I have the Console 1 with the included SSL 4000e as well as the British Class A (i.e. Neve) and I like both for different reasons. I demo'd the API there and while there are things about it I liked, I couldn't make myself spend the money on it - maybe next $135 sale. I knew you'd done a review of the Console 1, so I guess since that review was overall positive that you still had one. Thanks for the video.
I know what to buy with the next "any plugin 29,99"
Cool!
This will be excluded from sales like that for at least a year, probably more like 2 years. Their 9000-J console just dropped to $99, but it's still excluded from those crazy sales.
Yeah, in 4 years maybe ;)
@@davejohnsonmusic facts!
@@davejohnsonmusic I just paid $14.99 for it a year later. Used a sale voucher and a $25 voucher
I like the lay out. It’s packed with features but not cluttered. You see what you need to see. UA channel strip is a mess. Sounds great but hard to look at.
Thanks for watching
I am trying to understand how the routing works with the busses vs channels. I see that you have a separate bus for each group with a bus control and then a second bus control on the Main bus - so it's OK to run a bus control into another bus control? I am also curious about an Aux send - for example, if there is a guitar channel being sent to an Aux to add reverb, can/should I add a channel control to the Aux channel? Is it OK to run a channel into another channel?
Unfortunately none of this is in the manual.
yes to both. Its all just a matter of workflow......TRY IT! see how you like it
This looks, and sounds, like a great plugin. I am glad they added so many options instead of just one eq and compressor.
One thing that would have been nice is a proper preamp section so I could record using it in an actual console-type way but that is just a relatively small thing.
Thanks for sharing!
0:36 Did you ever end up making a video comparing this to UAD's API strip emulation? I couldn't find it.
I have not, yet but maybe soon
I can't wait to download this today! I've been looking forward to this one since it was announced last year. As far as other API console strips, there's the Softube American Class A. It's more of an "In the style of" rather than a direct API clone but it sounds pretty good as well.
Have fun with it. I will be using it in February MME content
Sup Jimmie!
Hey Dave...I have this and it's great...and great job on the review
Awesome! Thank you!
The FET compressor is from their 525 (500 series) compressor
Thnaks!
FYI - If you want the scribble strip to show the name of your track in Studio One make sure your using the " AU " version in your AU folder. You can't change the name on the VST/VST3 versions
Thanks for the tip!
There is also a Softube API channel strip which is amazing too!
Thanks for watching!
Cool song right there-sounds like Salvador!
Thanks for watching!
🎥Great informative video as always David. Much appreciated. Regarding the eq in this plugin, are the dials 'stepped?' Get well soon!😀Cheers✌🏽
Yes and yes
At last, a serious contender for the virtual API channel!
Any plans on comparing it with some 500 hardware modules?
Nope. I dont own API 500 series modules
yeap...Unless API sues them - they make sure not to use API at any point....since only UAD is endorsed...but with those gorgeous knobs and faders...hehe....
Nice review. Thanks for making this.
Thanks for watching!
Correct me if i am wrong..So there is 50 series from API and 80 series from NEVE??
I think you are correct
Finally !!!
Great channel strip
Thanks for this great detailed review.
My pleasure!
Installed...
Congrats!!!!
So what you’re saying is that channel strips should be added to all the mix tracks even if we are not tweaking…..just to get the full tone of the full mixing console vibe ???🤔🤔
Cos I’ve been thinking of doing so but was thinking probably that would be too much
You are exactly correct. If you really want to learn how to use analog style plugins in the most effective way, check this out.

Sofube has the American Channel strip, which is an API console emulation, plus I think Acoustica Audio Pink channel..? P.A.’s version seems just as good, if not even better than the Softube version..
Good to know! I dont own either
Amazing. Thank you.
Thank you too!
Nice job budy !i have it and it's true, it's amazing !
It really is! Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot! Really nice and detailed review!
I’d love to know why.... why... they didn’t include a dry/fx mix control on the 2500 compressor.
It’s really a pitty, because otherwise it would be a great and useful plugin for me, but as it is it’s really difficult to balance the 2500 response.
Not that you cannot do it with care, but (as an example) it would be nice to be able to use the feed forward mode, with it’s characteristic heavy and fast response mixed in with dry signal.
You can do it on the Fet but not on the 2500... why?... it’s almost an stupid omission, much more considering that there is no limit to what you can do in software as (maybe) there is in hardware.
I understand they’re emulating hardware but, c’mon... you could add a little slider on the upper bar, as a lot of other emulations from them brilliantly have.
Good points. thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info
You are welome
There's a drop-down arrow on the top next to the eq and compression type. Maybe the eq can be changed from the 550A to B,L or even 560? 🤔
hummmmmm
It has the 550A, B, and 560
When was this released? I can't find any info online about it
Coming soon.
Early than Jan.13 hah
Amazing. How is it in comparison to the Console A class of Softube?
No idea....dont own Softube
Do you think it’s ok to record through this plugin?
Sure, I think it would be cool if your computer can handle it. give it a try
Hi....Thnx for the video:)
How is the best way to use the bus extension plugin? first on your bus channel or last?
Thnx....
Last, in my opinion
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Thnx....👍🏼
Still testing it but it sounds amazing already, you said 13 instances tool 4% of your CPU, can i know what CPU DO You have?
6 core processor 3.2 GHZ
does the input gain section give you characteristics of an api preamp?
Yes
Snagged it for 100 bucks wit my vouchers. Defo seems worth it, though still learning
Congrats! Thats a good deal
I think acustica audio makes an API channel strip ad well.
They do. I dont like it
Hi when you do the comparison with the API from UAD, could you please turn the 16 x oversampling on?
Just for you? sure
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy 😉too kind!
It sounds American. What did you do to get the track color on top the plugin window, please?
That's part of Studio One 5.
How does this compare with Softube's American Class A?
Not sure. I dont own the Softtube version
aguardando...
Thnaks!
i like this strip
I love it!
Great channell.
Thank you!
Nice but if you think Plugin Alliance doesn't have other great sounding plugins then you haven't tried the Bettermaker 232D eq...
never used it.....dont own it
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy try a demo I see you did Pultec comparison video I think bettermaker would do very well in that regard it's modern day Pultec, or Pultec on steroids...
I review PA all the time on my channel... They have an incredible knack for detail, impeccable sound - and value. Not everything is perfect, since sometimes they just act as distributor, and don't code them ...So there's a variety...but they have diamond class stuff sitting in their Arsenal...
why don't people turn on oversampling?
CPU usage, usually
What about Acustica Pink4?
I am not a fan of Acoustia plugins
Softube makes the American Class A (API channel strip) for console 1 and native...UAD Vision is not the only alternative 😎🎛
Thanks!
@@najinelson6742 I posted a test on my channel, really liked the EQ on my material. Thanks fro chiming in - if you could post a video that'd be great. We're all so quick to get excited.
meh...
Thanks for sharing
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Oh, I greatly appreciate your video, man, don´t get me wrong. It´s just that this (another) channel strip doesn´t sound particularly appealing to me (I´m trying it out at home at the moment... not convinced at all, particularly for that price tag... as a usual $29 or less, perhaps). Anyway, onwards. Thanks for your video.
