Obviously I'm a year late, lol, but what would you charge for a knife like that? I want to get into knife making too and am not sure how to price! Do you figure price by the by the hour, or do you charge premium on top of materials cost? Thanks, and it looks great!
@@ZIPPOMANIAC he is running a home business, it is perfectly reasonable to value your labor at an hourly rate when determining the price of the product you're trying to sell. I knife that took me 5 hours to make isn't worth $1000 just because i think it's really cool, know what I'm sayin? :)
I lost my Buck 110 that I have had for over 30 years. A gentleman at work found it and knew it was mine, and returned it. I was so thankful I wanted to make him an edc, I would give him as a reward for being so honest. I was looking for a shape something fast and I will make a sheath for it this turns out to be the shape that inspired me thanks for your content God bless from Tucson
The first things I noticed were: you are highly skilled. You have machinery most of us only dream about. You need to take a chill pill because you're beyond relaxed. You don't respond to many questions or comments - only to the compliments or a few technical ones. Yet your outreach is actually to the little guy - the dreamers - the ones who want to learn but haven't reached your level. Just offering a few observations here that I hope will actually encourage you.
That looks just beautiful! I have so much respect for you, handcrafting something like this in 5-6 hours, basically from scratch. True art right there. Love the knife!
Dude, you make absolute works of art. This knife is "simple" and straight forward and perfectly done, in my opinion. By simple I don't mean I could do it, I mean elemental.
How to do you get such a mirror finish just using the 2x72? I would've thought there'd need to be a lot of hand sanding on the primary bevel for that level of finish. I don't make knives but I watch a lot of videos and your finishes really stand out
That is a cool result for a quick job. In this things you can see the skills and knowledge of a man who loves what he do. Even if i not plan do my own knives because i busy with so many other projects, i still enjoy all of your videos. Thanks for this from germany
5 hours?! That's insane. Even with you rushing through it, it looks professionally done and really high quality. It really shows the immense skill set that you have. Well done. Keep it up.
Great looking little knife Jeremy. I'd be proud to carry/own that any day. Don't put so much pressure on yourself! We all love what you're doing or else we wouldn't be subscribing!!
No need to excuse the quality and/or camera angles. It came out awesome! It's stuff like this that makes me want to think I can actually start making knives like the one you made. Time will tell if I do dare try..
Sometimes I like a video like this that goes through all the stages and gives lots of details (belt grits, little tips). I find I learn a lot. Keep up the good work, hopefully soon I'm going to have a pic for your viewer knives.
Hi guys... retting from Spain, m first comment, and one of my first suscrptions... I'm a new knves maker.... I can't call myself bladesmith.. but I'm n the way... Thanks for your inspiring videos. In the future, and if I learn how to do it.. wil be a pleasure share my "creations" with all of you.Again... thanks in advance to all of you..
Oh wow, this knife is gorgeous, I wish I had as much talent & creativity it takes to make such an awesome knife. Great vid. Thank you for sharing, Be Blessed in all good things.
I think that's a really cool little knife, man you have a lot of skill and make everything look so easy, truly a gift. Good job and great content as usual, keep it up👍
Learnt a nice tip from president of Australian knife makers guild. He uses two big blocks of aluminium that he clamps the knife between as soon as it comes out of the kiln. The aluminium works as a quench as it conducts heat so well. He uses shims for the tip cut out of a can. Keeps knife straight and cleaner than oil.
I actually did a place quench on this one (you can see the 1" aluminum in the opening shots. That's why I was quite surprised to have a warp on that blade. I've done 154CM, CPM 154 and have had no issues. This was a surprise to me for sure!
Dude I don't even know why you apologized for the knife and the rush build, that blade looks amazing and even though you rushed it came out beautiful I can tell you care a lot about your viewers so you did what you had to do and all I can say is that you are a talented man. Keep up the good work. Love the contents!!
Might not have been the highest production value, as you said, but solid video regardless. In fact, you doing the audio afterward and doing some quick cuts and keeping things on point actually improved my enjoyment. Thanks again.
So Jeremy, very nice knife! I was looking to find something of a neck knife, and that was it! I liked the Jump Knife as well. I think for the honor of what the Jump Knife represents. You're still one of my favorite knife makers that I can poke fun with about Hockey. Go Kings! GOD Bless you and the fam. And of course Cheers friend, Brady
Hey man we get it sometimes life happens, but this was probably the dopest 5 hour knife video on RUclips. We appreciate you getting content out for us my man!
No need to apologize for that.... I think you made up for it w/ a wicked little blade. Good job and good luck in the future... If you ever need another "5 hour" video idea, please do an old folding razor design but as a pocket knife. I'm curious how you would do it... But also because I think it would be cool. LoL
I really am loving that knife. I don't know why, but as soon as I am done with my first knife (I am half way threw beating the little bugger in to shape) I will buy some o1 to try this. It's so idk.. it really catches my eye
that was great like to see thing that just get thrown together last minute sometimes the coolest things come out of it great knife ! i would use it like the blue with the black pins
I just finished chefs knife made out of 1/8 inch Nitro-V and had the same problem. I followed all the steps to avoid a warp: 1. Cut and ground the profile, but did not bevel pre-heat treat. 2. Wrapped in 309 stainless foil. 3. Austenized at 1950°F and soaked for 20 minutes. 4. Plate quenched. When I took it out of the foil it warped like a banana right in front of eyes. It took several tempering cycles, hammering, and bending it in a vise to get it back to acceptable straightness. The subzero quench also brought some of the warp back. I hope I don't have to go through this with every knife I make out of Nitro-V. It'd be nice if you did a video on straightening it.
well when you said blue handle i just shook my head and said "there goes that knife." But it actually looked damn good. Cheers and just awesome for 5 hrs!!
This knife is listed on my website if anyone might be interested. You can find it here: homesteadknives.com/products/edc-companion
Simple Little Life nice little knife in only 5 hours (I make one bad handle in 2 days)

eliprince1 to answer your question, Would you price a Vincent Vangouh painting by the hour? Obviously not so why do so for your knife building

Those quick knifes you do are honestly the ones I like the most
Thanks! They are a lot of fun and an efficient (yet hectic) way to work👍
What a beauty of a knife, that serves me to take the skin of the animals I used to hunt, such as deer and wild pigs. Congratulations, my friend.
A lot of people have already said this but I will say it again, that is one sweet little knife!
Dude that looks great for being a quick five hour knife!
Thank you!
Simple Little Life you should make a hunting knife with a guy hook

5 hours?! That's insane. Even with you rushing through it, it looks professionally done and really high quality. It really shows the immense skill set that you have. Well done. Keep it up.
That's a really good useful size knife, not to big, not to small and thick enough to take on some heavier work.
Great looking little knife Jeremy. I'd be proud to carry/own that any day. Don't put so much pressure on yourself! We all love what you're doing or else we wouldn't be subscribing!!

Weird. My guy unwrapped the steel First and then shimmed the point straight while it was cooling. But that bend looked in the middle..?
That's a GREAT looking knife! The blade shape is really nice, and I love the colors of the handle scales.
Thank you very much!
