I just picked up an rg6003 to learn on and I'm so stoked. I got it used in excellent condition for $225 and it came shipped in a hardshell case which was a nice little surprise. Felt like the way to go instead of the standard cheapo strat for the same price.

In my opinion Ibanez Prestige series guitars are made for professionals which dont have time for tuning their guitar after 3mins of playing on stage or in studio session, so they really need this 5piece neck with locking tuners and high price nut.
If you are playing only for yourself and dont have much money, RG standart and even Gio guitars are good for practise, home recordings.

I had a gio for years I played on and all kinds of rg standards then decided I'm gonna buy myself a prestige just to check out never even touched one before and I haven't looked back. The 5 piece neck is awesome super stable and holds a setup very well on the road and the pickups selecter input jack wiring and pots are top notch

For the beginner or novice to a slightly advanced player that wants a guitar that can evolve with them without spending alot of money or later having to buy a newer, nicer instrument...the RG6003FM is the way to go. The 6003 can never be made or modded to be exactly like the Prestige, but it can get close with a little work and a little money.
A beginner can learn using the 6003 straight out of the box. As he/she improves, that person can improve the quality of the 6003 with a little time and money as they go. Guitar evolving as the player does. A little fret polishing and suddenly bends become easier with the harmonics improving. Change out the cheap plastic nut with a graphite-like nut...suddenly the 6003 is easier to tune and is more likely to stay in tune. Change the keys for a decent set of locking tuners...suddenly the 6003 stays in tune even under the heaviest of shredding. The beginner will find the Quantum pups to be fine, but as the player's ear evolves, new pups will be needed such as a good set of EMG hums. Eventually the player will want more adjustment to action and intonation so the player opts for an improved bridge.
Is the Prestige worth the money? Hell yes and twice on Sunday!!
Do most players, especially novices, need or can afford a RG series Prestige? Almost always no.
A player can slowly over time improve the 6003 as the player's skills improve resulting in spending little money upfront for the guitar. Then take a little time and a little money here and there to improve the 6003 as needed.
As you can see, I'm a HUGE Ibanez fan who especially loves the RG6003FM for the money.
The 6003 is a great beginner guitar that can be greatly improved as the player improves.
The Prestige is close to the pinnacle of the RG series with a matching price geared more towards experienced or more skilled players that can instantly appreciate all the refinements and details that make the Prestige a top notch instrument.
I know it wasn't your intent, but comparing the RG6003FM to a RG series Prestige model...well that's comparing a 2010 Chevy Camaro SS to a Porsche 911 GT3. Apples to oranges.
Still...great video and I'm glad someone else shares my love of the Ibanez RG series!!!

@blazingbuzzard The RG6003FM seems to be a way to "bridge" the gap between the low price point of the Gio Series and the playability/adaptability of the RG Series in hopes of bringing players into the Ibanez Family long term. In that, the 6003 does a great job. But nothing can touch the upper end RG Series and/or S Series for the money...especially the Prestige versions!!! Ibanez rocks!!

Do you know how hard material of frets on prestige? I know that it is not stainless steel, which is not good, but still I want to know is it close to steel in terms of hardness? On my cheap ibanez Gio cheap soft frets significantly polished by years of playing, which is good in terms of playability, but bad in terms of endurance.

It's Nicole frets they'll still wear down but it takes a little longer keep in mind string gaue will effect how fast the frets wear. Prestige is for everyone man not just pros you'll still have to tune it I have to tune mine sometimes. Grab yourself one you won't be sorry for spending the money
