  • Seriously surprised with this thing. I was definitely not expecting it to sound this good, look this good, or feel this good.

    Same thing I thought regarding the pickups and the weight. This is the axe I started learning on after picking up guitar for the 2nd time in my life. Being that I kind of like to swap gear when I feel like I'm progressing and experiment with new stuff, I kept looking for excuses to sell mine and buy something maybe more aggressive-looking and/or with better pickups. But every time I played it I was (and continue to be) struck by just how good they sound. This and the fact that it is so light and comfortable to play (for me at least) means I will probably never get rid of it.

    This was the first guitar I actially tried at a Guitar Center, and I instantly loved it. May be too expensove for me as a beginner, but at the same time I really really enjoyed the feel of it.. any suggestions on whether I should get it?

    • @IsolationIndex
      @IsolationIndex  7 лет назад +7

      Sorry for the late reply man! I'd say if you enjoyed it, definitely pick one up. This would seriously be a kick ass guitar to start on, especially with how light it is and how thin the neck is. I hope that helps, good luck!

    Great review. You are funny, self-deprecatory and laid-back. Only thing I'd recommend is change camera angles from time to time. It feels a little claustrophobic from the camera angle.
    Thanks for doing the review. I'm debating about this vs. an RGAIX6U for 1200 or a Prestige for 1300.

      Thanks so much man. I'm sort of still on a hiatus, as I've moved a bit away from my hometown and I'm still getting setup, but I am planning on returning and reviewing a few guitars. I sort of wanted to make a video talking about it, but I feel like that's a grab for attention when I'd rather just keep writing songs that I can use in videos and wait until I'm in a better position to film again. I'll be back soon, don't worry. Gotten way too many "holy shit what" compliments to just let the channel die.

    Hey question! So i got this same exact guitar of off guitar center and I noticed my head doesnt have the "RG Series" logo at the head and the fretboard is a little bit more lighter than yours, yet on the website itself if shows this same guitar you have, could it be a fake?

    • @IsolationIndex
      @IsolationIndex  3 года назад

      Hey man! I know that at some point, Ibanez switched materials for a lot of things - depending on the year of your guitar, it could have a jatoba fretboard instead of rosewood. As far as the decal, I'm not sure man... that could again just be the result of the material switch. I think your best bet is shoot an email to Ibanez, they're super responsive - but I don't think it's likely that you ended up with a fake. Hope that helps! :)

      One thing to note: I have no idea if it's just mine or what, but I've had some issues with strap locks lately. The screw seems to want to wobble its way loose. Holds fine with some epoxy/glue/toothpicks, but every so often I'll have some issues. Might want to make sure yours isn't doing that before you get up on stage with it :)

      @IsolationIndex  8 лет назад +1

    • @kelleyhargis9025
      @kelleyhargis9025 6 лет назад

      Yep. Supposedly an improvement over the square heel joint and square metal back plate that the earlier model Japanese made RG's had I.E. RG550, 570, 770

    • @kelleyhargis9025
      @kelleyhargis9025 6 лет назад +1

      ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/All_Access_Neck_Joint
      The All Access Neck Joint (AANJ) is a slimmed down neck joint on Ibanez guitars with bolt-on neck mounting constructions. The neck joint is the point at which the neck attached to the body of the guitar. When joining a guitar neck to its body using screws, a substantial piece of wood on the body side is needed to house the screws and keeping the construction 'sturdy'. This neck 'heel' can be a real obstruction when trying to reach the upper frets. As opposed to the more square "traditional" bolt-on neck heels, the AANJ is slimmed down and rounded off for easier upper fret access.

    • @kelleyhargis9025
      @kelleyhargis9025 6 лет назад

      It's just a different style bolt-on neck. Many of my friends who play Ibanez prefer the older square joint neck with the square backplate as they "feel" it's a better tonal sound and the joint "feels" more secure. It works fine for me, with no issues. I believe the instrument has great potential tone, while the hands have kinetic tone, bringing the heart and sound out for all to hear. To answer your question between the RG and the Soloist, just play them and see what feels and sounds best for you. A good player can make any guitar sound great.

      I didn't do an extensive amount of lower-gain stuff with it before i swapped the pickups, but it was definitely usable in E Standard with the stock pickups for everything i threw at it. I wouldn't necessarily say it's better, just different. I've played the DXB as well, and I really liked it, actually. Reminded me of an RG550.
      If you want a guitar that has a Trem, a single coil in the middle, and a pickguard, definitely grab the 450.
      If you want a guitar that's just a fixed bridge, dual humbucker monster with some cool finishes and a really nicely figured top, get the RG6003.
      I hope that helps!

      Yusuf Celenli Funny enough, I fell in love with the RG450DXB at a guitar center a few weeks ago, but I ultimately had to decline it because of the Floyd. A college dorm is no place for a floating trem, so I ended up ordering this exact guitar instead. the reviews I see all look very promising, and all i would change seems to be the stock tuners to locking tuners, and perhaps the pickups down the line. QuantumxQueen yeah, I'm not a great speaker. I'm working on getting a normal sounding volume without sounding like I'm being held at gunpoint

      Forrest Hooker I get it. I have a naturally quiet voice, too. I think if the background music was either lowered or just not there, then I would've been able to hear you.
      The video was awesome though. This guitar is on sale for $250 new at GC, which is what led me here. Do you think that's a good price?

      Aw, damn it, I thought I'd normalized the BG music. Oh well.
      I think that's a fantastic deal man. I really can't reiterate enough how amazed I am with this guitar, it sounds fantastic and feels great. $250 is more than reasonable for this RG.
      Thanks for the compliment :)

      Dekada 90 what would make for a better review then? I welcome criticism because I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, but it's more helpful if it's constructive rather than "I don't like this"

      Dekada 90 I really appreciate your kind words about my playing :) I definitely agree with the speaking bit, I am not a very good speaker, and I completely see what you're saying. It's certainly been awhile since I've made a video and its mostly for exactly the reason you're talking about; I am terrible at sounding super excited about something like many many other reviewers, even though most of the time I actually have to cut a lot of footage because I just won't shut up about certain aspects of a guitar. I really appreciate your criticism and I will certainly make a far better effort to not sound super depressed. Thank you so much for watching man.
